Uhhh, Cell Phone? Don't have one of those. I do have a pretty sweet pager though.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 10, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) What was it I said a while back, that candidates for this race will be more scrutinized than any ever before? Sheesh. Anyway, Obama is more likely to suffer for this kind of thing than many other candidates, for a few reasons. One, since he is seen by many as lacking substantive experience, if his charisma and charm fade, that's a big problem for him. Two, there will be a segment of the population that will think of these verbal gaffes as somehow related to race (that's B.S. of course, but some will think it the case). Third, after having a President in office who is by far the worst public speaker of the TV era, the American public is now maybe a little leary of what those gaffes say about the person behind them. That is exactly my worry about it. I don't think that we got all of the facts before heading into Iraq. Numbers and details need to be checked and accurate. The more of these mistakes I see, the more leery I grow of a candidate because it shows a lack of concern about details.
  3. I really enjoy having Sweeney up. He seems to be the only player right now that I have any sort of confidence in being able to get a hit.
  4. Making Nathan throw a lot of pitches at least...
  5. QUOTE(GOD @ May 8, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) now that we're losing Hawk is complaining about the umpire lol Hasn't he been doing that all game? And, we are tied right now...
  6. The discussion seems to be narrowing it down to just bars. Isn't it more than just bars that are affected by this? Won't it also affect places like bowling alleys? I would love to be able to go out for a night of bowling and not have to breathe in that stuff as well as not end up smelling like smoke when I get home. It is not just the places that serve alcohol that are affected.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 7, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) This should be cool, just because I look forward to seeing the draft from a bit different of a perspective and I think TV can help. However, I don't want to see it turned into this long drawn out spectacle that the NFL draft has become. I really despise the NFL draft coverage. Talk about overhyped. Here's to hoping the baseball draft does not turn into that mess.
  8. QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ May 8, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) I don't live in Chicago, but I do get all the stations except CLTV. I don't have any problem watching all the Sox games. Same here. Living out in Iowa, I get CSN Chicago, and get all of the games. The only ones I do not get are on WCIU (which I would not have a problem with if I lived in Chicago). I had to go with 120 channel package to get it though. IIRC, the 60 channel package does not have it.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 8, 2007 -> 08:10 AM) In judging GMs, trades are a big part. No GM is perfect, but what makes a great GM? I thought this was all about your favorite car dealer. The only GM I am really familiar with is KW, and I think that most of his moves have worked out pretty well.
  10. First W for Danks? I'm really hoping it happens this week.
  11. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 6, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) Too bad he's not hitting 95. Wasn't that last pitch actually a 96?
  12. Got you all beat. 27, 5'6" Dang, I'm always the short one.
  13. Why doesn't he just shave his beard?
  14. QUOTE(Hawkfan @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) can someone explain to me what RS and RA is.. can anyone do these equations or is there information that we don't have? RS = Runs Scored RA = Runs Allowed
  15. Well, McCain sounded pretty good at the forum I was at today. He made some promises that I would like to see if he would actually deliver on. - He talked about shutting down Guantanomo Bay, Cuba to help with how we are viewed around the world. - To go with that, he stated that there will be absolutely no torture no matter what with prisoners (It is always the non-military people who want that, not the military). - Stated that Global warming is true, and needs to be dealt with, but we will not join Koyoto protocol without China and India. - Stated that the tax code needs to be written because it is too messy and complicated. Americans spend $140 million(billion?) each year on getting taxes prepared. - He will cut the pork out of bills that come through. In the 50s a heavily porked bill had 200 tags on it. Now there are bills coming through with 6,000. - Health Care needs to be looked at and fixed. He did not seem to favor a universal health care, but more of a competition between health care providers. - No Child Left Behind started out on a good track, but needs to be fixed now that we know what some of its flaws are. - The war in Iraq has been mismanaged. Those were the main points that I took away from it anyhow.
  16. I'm actually going to see McCain at a forum over lunch hear. I'll see if there are any impressions that I get that I can share.
  17. Severe Thunderstorm warning for the area in effect until 7:30.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 05:25 AM) It's the final game of the year, Alex Rodriguez has 72 homeruns and is going up against Boston and Josh Beckett in the final game of the season. Beckett hold Rodriguez in check, an 0-4 day for A-Rod. Barry Bonds' single season homerun record remains in tact. As a show of gratitude Bonds buys Josh Beckett a Ferrari. You know damn well most everyone would be pushing for the 3 year suspension. It had no impact, that much I can agree on. That's why the rule should be amended. Why have it if it's not going to be enforced once broken? That's what I don't get. This is the same organization that was ready to suspend Craig Biggio for wearing a pin on his cap for the 20th straight season during Spring Training. About the most victimless crime there is and yet they were ready to enforce it. That's why this pisses me off, they decide when to enforce certain rules and when to look the other way. It's about time we get some consistency from Major League Baseball and their lame-ass rules violations. All I'm asking for is consistency. I agree that it should be enforced in some manner, but not the 3 years. That would be ridiculous. Come on Kalapse a Ferrari vs some bubbly? You can come up with a better example than that.
  19. Chicago CSN Channels: Linky Since I have DISH out in Iowa, it is 449 for the Sox, 429 for the Bulls, and 451 for that other team. You should be able to find out at the link above.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) I gotta say, I have been one of Mark Buehrle's biggest detractors but he looks absolutely amazing tonight. He's spotting his fastball exactly where he needs to and he's avoiding the change. This is vintage Buehrle. I remember a lot of people being worried about his fastball slowing down. It looks like it is back up there, and there is a good difference in speed between the fastball and changeup again.
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 18, 2007 -> 08:18 PM) And Erstad groundsout to the right side... what new. Gooch might be the only one who can give Thome RBI chances. Good to see Gooch in the 2 spot.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 16, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) You just seemed to quantify a 'good hitter' as someone who gets big hits late in games and since Pods and Uribe are supposedly the only 'good hitters' right now I just assumed that Pods had some big moments this year that I don't remember. How about this game: April 9, 2007 Pods hit a go ahead HR in the 5th and scored an insurance run in the 8th. He was the only one with a 2-out RBI in that game. That was against OAK of all teams.
