  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) He won't. Oz already said Pablo and Anderson are in. He won't have to keep that promise if they get snowed out.
  2. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) As I said before, Dye should just be left off the roster until the weather warms up. He is just as useless as he was to start the season in 2005. Dye with the "Ford drive of the game!" Right there. Awesome
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) A few feet? You need to watch the replay after the game. Just watched it over on the DVR. It did not seem that far away. At least it didn't hit him on the head after he jumped and landed...

  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) That's odd that everyone is mentioning the difficulties with the wireless internet connection. For me, it was pretty damn easy. Much easier, in fact, than what I had to go through with my sister's computer which runs XP. As far as drivers, I only had to download 1 from a 3rd party, that being my HP printer. Everything else, from speakers, externals hard drive, external burner, and wireless PCI card have all been a snap. Even my iPod and iTunes was easy. Maybe I'm just lucky... I've had the same thing as you with the drivers. No problem at all. I even had an old game that I needed to do a workaround in XP to run that took absolutely no workaround to run in Vista. I was shocked! Based upon the Mac comments, I am not surprised at all about the iPod and iTunes set up. I think the issues with wireless connections are between computers and sharing files with a different Windows OS. The internet connection was a snap, I just spent a couple of hours figuring out how to be able to transfer files from my XP box to the Vista box.
  6. I got a new laptop with it on it, and it has worked pretty well. The main issue that I had was connecting to other computers through my home network. In order to connect to machines using other OSs (including XP), I had to install some Microsoft patch on those other machines because Vista uses a different type of communication to "talk" to other computers on the network. After that initial frustration, it has worked out well.
  7. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) Some people are weird. Who'd he pick up? Who else does this guy have at 1b? I was in a similar situation last year -- I ended up with Pujols, Berkman, and Derrek Lee. When Lee returned (briefly) I tried trading one of the three. I was willing to gamble on Lee's health. Lucky for me, noone would give me anything close to value. I've never seen anyone do very well in trading an 'extra' player. Maybe people just know you don't want to burn the roster spot and they have you over the barrel. Related question -- someone dropped Hideki Matsui. I'm probably too far down the waiver wire to get him, but just in case, pick one to drop: Stephen Drew (backup to Tejada), Ryan Shealy (backup to Adrian Gonzalez), Scott Olsen, Chuck James, Jeremy Sowers, Dan Wheeler, Javier Vazquez. I'm leaning towards dropping Shealy. I would go with Shealy or with Wheeler depending on your relief situation. They picked up Mike Jacobs (1B Fla) for him (who is off to a decent start, but I would not think that you would drop Fielder unless you had heard something). Conor Jackson is the other 1B on his team.
  8. So, in my league someone just dropped Prince Fielder who I consider to be a very good 1B. Does anyone know why someone would do that? I have Konerko and Giambi on my team, but am still thinking of picking him up as trade bait. Am I crazy? I have the #1 waiver priority. So, I could get him easily.
  9. I want to say BOOOO because I was looking forward to watching this game tonight, but it looks like the bullpen will get a day of rest. So, that is good.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) Ok so now he's going to change his strike zone? Yep, he changed it if Game Day is right. Called a ball a strike after doing the exact opposite.

  12. I love these days. I almost took the day off for it, but everytime I did something like that last year, it seemed like they would lose. So, I'm not doing it today. Go Sox!
  13. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 28, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) In threads here and in discussions in general, evolutionists regularly get blasted for being as dogmatic and blindly faithful and certain of what they believe in as the religious anti-evolutionists. If that were in fact true, then a solid piece of research like this that potentially lays waste to a major dogmatic evolutionary tenet (i.e., mass extinction sets the stage for adaptive radiation) should be dismissed and decried and reviled as heretical in some way. But it won't be. It will be scrutinized and replicated and poked and prodded, but if it stands up to that scrutiny then it is our understanding of the biological past that will be changed. Our understanding of organic evolution will itself continue to evolve, as it has for nearly 150 years. That is very interesting, but I wanted to provide a counter-balance to your soapbox. This is not a tenet that would be attacked and be blasted for changing because it does not threaten the evolution theory. It changes an aspect or view of that theory just as (in the case of Christianity) has been done for 2,000 years (after all, how many years ago did people believe that the universe revolved around the earth). The basic view that science can look back and through trial and error discover and describe natural origins is not under attack. The scientific method nor its assumptions are not under attack with this discovery. Now back off my soap box. I really do find this stuff interesting, and I actually do believe in evolution. Thanks for the post
  14. More fun...Iran says British must admit they were in Iranian territory.
  15. I gave up on it a few weeks ago even though I was obsessed with it for the first 5 seasons. It just was getting to be too implausible and ridiculous. I didn't care about it any more.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) Actually, I think swapping catcher to 1st or any other position for that matter, is probably more physically different then any other position swap. A catcher playing anything other than catcher is going to be more of a drastic change. Come on man. That is a bit of a drastic statement. How about we throw a comparison out there for you? 1B - Stands and catches the ball from an infielder occasionally C - Sits and catches the ball from a pitcher every pitch 1B - Occasionally fields grounders C - Also occasionally fields grounders (depends on the pitcher) 1B - Catches line drives C - Also catches line drives, but they come at him on every pitch 1B - Catches pop-ups C - Also catches pop-ups, but with a mask and other equipment in the way. Anything I am missing?
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 12:51 AM) Third time's the charm. I did the original one real late and never noticed the crappy job I did erasing around AJ until now. So, the one at the link now is a better job in my opinion. It is just Spring Training. You still have a week to work out the kinks in your swing...I mean Wallpaper designing. Looks good!
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:23 PM) Like I posted earlier, Hall would be 6th or 7th on the depth chart for 1B. Why was he out there? 1. Because he is a professional baseball player. 2. It is generally a good position to see if someone can play to allow them to get more ABs (especially against those tough left handers everyone brings up). 3. There is not a lot of running, throwing, etc where someone can easily get hurt or needs to exert themselves a lot. 4. If a hitter is at the end of his career and in the NL, where do they generally put him at? Usually first base. Ever thought as to why? 5. It is Spring Training, and it is good to get players ABs (even if playing at the incredibly risky position of 1B that you never find an oft-injured player at because it is too easy for them to get hurt with all of the running).
  19. So, say the wife and I move into a new area that we are not too familiar with. She sends me out to go get some milk from the store (there is one that we had passed before that we wanted to give a try). When I am out, I get into an accident and tear my labrum. Can I use the same logic and say that it is her fault for putting me in that situation? Sorry I couldn't resist. I find it ridiculous to blame Ozzie for having Hall play baseball.
  20. The crate worked for my dog as well. One other thing to mention, I have always heard to never rub a puppy's nose in his mess. By that time, they will have moved on, and will have no association in their head with what the bad act actually was. You need to catch them in the act of doing it in order to punish them so that they can make that immediate association. Otherwise, they get confused and have no idea why you are upset at them.
