  1. QUOTE(downstairs @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) As Hawk would say... that is total BS. I have to believe when the World Series (or any championship series) is going on, they've designed a few covers in case either wins it, and can slap a photo behind it, and send it to print in a matter of minutes. Even if they won the series 20 minutes before SI went to print, they could still have done it. It seems like they could have done it. If they were able to include a small picture of the celebration, how could they not be able to change to another cover. Oh well. Sox win, I'm happy
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 07:29 AM) How can it be *your* homeland if you never lived there? Imagine if we decided to displace people and give native Americans the land. Say Manhatten? I never thought about the significance of what was done back then. We are worried about increased government abuse of emminent domain here, imagine on a worldwide scale. Again, if it was such an important area, how did the Palestinians come to own most of it? I am now understanding some of the historical issues. Where Jews from Germany expected to pack up and move to the Middle East? There is a twisted side to this, round up the Jews and send them to one place? This is fascinating now that I woke up. I never really linked the guilty (Nazis) with who else paid for those sins (Palistinians). Is it correct to say without the Nazis, there would be no Israel. Was there any sort of a movement prior to the war to create a nation? Actually, there was a document in 1917 that was meant to create a Jewish state that included modern Israel and Jordan. The British were given control of that area when the Ottoman Empire collasped after WWI. They gave that land in the Balfour Declaration that was supported by the US and Soviet Union. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balfour_Declaration_1917
  3. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) It sure doesn't make a whole lot of sense now. I guess will have to wait and see what Kenny's got up his sleeve next. Just my opinion, but I think that Garland is still on the trade block. I would guess that Kenny was having problems moving Garland for what he wanted because he was going to be a free agent next year. Who would really want to give up much for a guy that you are not sure you can keep after 1 year? This move really ups his trade value because other teams now know that they will have him locked up for a few years. We still have a large hole in the bullpen that needs to be filled, and that is what I see happening next.
  4. Anyone care to mention this little story to him? White Sox' first title since 1917 is AP Story of the Year http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-s...ov=ap&type=lgns
  5. QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) 2005 - Jim Thome + Javy Vasquez = Championship Fixed: 2005 - (Jim Thome + Javy Vasquez) = Championship in 2005 A bit redundant, but I doubt we would win again with the same team.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Will that work once the files have been shocked? I assume you could decompile protected Director dcr files, but I didn't know you could decompile the shockwave files. But if so. . . You can try using this program: http://www.eltima.com/download/flashdecompiler/ I have never done any shockwave programming, but I was able to look at the code.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) It's a judgement of a player's overall defense. It's called a "Gold Glove" award because of Rawlings. Just a question. How involved in this is Rawlings? I read that the players and managers vote for this, but it seems like a popularity contest that bodes well for Rawlings. They are getting the marquee names associated with Rawlings rather than other players who are more deserving.
