Official College Basketball Thread

What a ridiculous rollercoaster ride this season has been. 15-5, then lose 5 straight, then complete the sweep of A&M. Back on the bubble. -

Wow, can't believe people are still arguing with KU fans. I'll give you a hint, they live in their own world. They can't get over Roy leaving Kansas for his alma mater after building the program into the current level KU enjoys now. Nevermind the 15+ years of loyalty he showed, while Bill job hopping Self is at his 4th head coaching gig and counting. Maybe they are just nervous that Bill Self will be the first applicant at a better job if Carolina, Duke, or Kentucky's job open up. They need to come out of the phog. -

That's because Kansas actually had a good coach at the time ;-). Kansas also had "slightly" more talent than this Illini squad. -
Who knows, a tire could have blown out, I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Prayers are with them.

The number of 4 star players on both sites are about the same, but Rivals gives out about half as many 5 star ratings. But both sites can REALLY differ on players, one can be a 2 star on Scout and a 4 star on Rivals, etc.

UNC had Byron Sanders, Mike Copeland, and David Noel manning the post with Hansbrough. None of those guys were even in the top 75 of their class. Wes Miller a walk-on transfer got 23 minutes a game last year. Reyshawn Terry was barely a top 75 recruit and was pretty much a freshmen in experience coming into last year. Duke has 5 top 25 recruits on their roster, 7 top 40 recruits, and 9 top 60 recruits. UNC had 2 top 25 recruits, 3 top 40, and 5 top 60 recruits. Noel, Terry, Miller, Sanders, Copeland etc were all rated 70 or above in their class, including Miller, Noel, Sanders, and Copeland not in top 100's. -

Coach K is such a miracle worker, he has Duke at 18-6 with so little talent... Lance Thomas - #4 PF - McD AA Gerald Henderson - #5 SF - McD AA Jon Scheyer - #3 SG - McD AA Brian Zoubek - #7 C - Top 25 in class Greg Paulus - #1 PG - McD AA Josh McRoberts - #1 PF - McD AA Martynas Pocius - #16 SG - Top 75 in class David McClure - #13 SF - Top 60 in class DeMarcus Nelson - #5 SG - McD AA -

Can't be true, he's not a big man for Texas Tech. -

Losing Nick Young is really going to hurt though, he's my favorite non-UNC player in the nation. Amazingly under-rated by the public before this year. -
Don't let it bother you. What should bother you is how they are implying Illinois is cheating while USC getting caught twice (Jarrett, Bush) just gets swept under the rug.
-
Hannah called 3 different coaches and commited within a 24 hour period, nobody knew where he was really going until he stepped on SC's campus, and that didn't last long either.
-
Saunders told UNC he was commiting there this morning, then changed his mind again, reminds me a lot of Jonathan Hannah, not a good thing.
-
I know nobody else cares, but UNC is having a ridiculous day. 3 star Devon Ramsey, 4 star Greg Little, 4 star Kevin Bryant, 5 star Marvin Austin, 5 star Dwight Jones, and now 4 star Weslye Saunders all in one day. I don't even know what to say right now, I don't even know what to say, but this makes tonights basketball game almost irrelevant.
-
UNC kept 5 star Dwight Jones, just got Greg Little away from ND, pulled in a suprise 3 star, and is still 50-50 for Marvin. Great day!
-
USC and Florida have seperated themselves from the pack with quite possibly the best two classes on paper in history. Teams like Texas, Notre Dame, Tenn, LSU etc have pulled in great classes as well. UNC and Illinois will probably be the suprise teams in the rankings this year. Oklahoma really has taken a hit in this years class, as they didn't have many scholarships, but their star level isn't as high as in the past either.
-
If you just understand that Jimbo is trying to elicit angry responses for kicks then his posts become a lot more tolerable.
-
I'm cautiously optimistic about Marvin. Though deep in my mind I still expect im to pick FSU. But we have a good class regardless, but he's an amazing talent.

The official "Greg Oden vs. Kevin Durant thread
Palehosefan replied to Steve9347's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Durant. He's already 6'10 225 and has put on 20 pounds since arriving at Texas. He has already proven he's an elite scorer/rebounder. He's going to be a great SF/PF at the next level. I could see him becoming a more athletic Dirk. Then again you can't wrong with Oden either. I think both will be dominant big men at the next level. Durant will have proven himself more than just about anyone at the college level, and yet will only be 18 years old when he's drafted. -

Congrats Greasy, way to keep it in the AFC :-). -
OJ's not the brightest guy in the world, but I hope that ref never ref's again, that's Duke defense type acting.

2nd egg laid by the team in the last 6 games. Not sure what to expect in Cameron. Hopefully Reyshawn Terry misses the bus.
