So now I've heard that Saban turned down a 10 year 57 million dollar contract offer from Alabama. That's just ridiculous money if true and would have changed the collegiate pay landscape. -
Good question Rex. He's had problems in the past when Deion Sanders pretty much kicked him out of his house. He's had academic problems but had been rumored to really be working on his grades. He already has two children at 18, but seems like a good guy to me. He lost both his parents by the time he was 11 and had to become a man early. I'm still not sure what to make of him, other than having watched his breathtaking video's for 4 years now. I honestly wouldn't mind if Butch Davis took a look see at him.

Leach running the offense with south Florida's speed and Shannon running the D would be horrible to have to play against. -

So, Miami is interviewing Mike Leach now and he is said to be the leading candidate. -

I've heard others suggest that the polls shouldn't start until January 1st for basketball. I like the concept, as teams would have gotten through their OOC schedules and will be getting ready or just into conference play. -

Wake Forest winning the ACC is absolutely amazing. That win gives alot of lesser programs hope for conference championships. As Grobe once stated, Wake Forest doesn't have a recruiting pool, more like a recruiting puddle. Just shows what a team can do when they have experience and good coaching to back it up. That and the ACC blew chunks this year. -

I think a blind penguin could coach Kansas' talent to wins over Oral Roberts and Depaul, that's just frightening. Even if the guys don't listen to Self, their talent alone should pull out those wins. -

Conley, Butler, Cook, Hunter, Oden is going to be one scary starting 5. I want no part of that. -

Now I'm hearing that Spurrier to Alabama is a done deal. That would be interesting to say the least. -

LOL, come on, I know you are an OSU fan, but that's just too much. http://alabama.scout.com/2/595807.html Odd. -
Most assistant's will do the majority of the recruiting, and the head coaches are basically used as closers. In some special cases a head coach will do all the recruiting of a player to impress them and try to seal the deal. I would say in college basketball assistant coaches do about 75% of the recruiting, and in college football they probably do about 90% of the recruiting.

Schula really struggled at Bama, he was barely above .500 from what I remember, something like two 6-6 seasons, a 4-7 season and a 10-2 year combing for something like 26-21. The Bama job would make it easier to recruit, and would offer more pay. Which is usually enough for any coach, but we will see. -

There's a rumor that Rich Rodriguez and Bama are close for a deal. We will see how that turns out. -

I know he's not the sexiest pick, but I think Grobe could put something special on the field at Alabama. He's a hell of a coach and has a style that would fit the SEC to a T. -

Pretty much the same as you, a bunch of names being thrown against the wall to see if any stick. I've heard everyone from Nick Saban, to Steve Spurrier, to Tommy Bowden, to Mack Brown(lol). -

I'm still holding out hope for a Willis Reed like appearance for Oden in the game, but without the inspirational win part for OSU. I want to see all that talent battle, especially in the post. -

Jake Delhomme is too much of a headcase to ever find consistency with the Panthers. He makes some of the dumbest throws in the NFL. -

OSU can really shoot 3's, which is what UNC struggles with the most defending. I fully expect OSU to go off against UNC and make it a great game at the very least. -

That's a hell of a hire Heads, congrats. Especially when you consider the amount of jobs open right now, he was one of the hottest names available. -
Hopefully he's UNC's next OC. He was a good OC under Butch before.

I wasn't paying enough attention to the announcing apparently, I was too confused as to why Denver never blitzes. -
Carlos Gonzalez, Upton, Drew, or even Miguel Montero would be interesting. Might be nice to finally have a potential starting catcher in our system. They seem to be loaded with outfielders for the future, so I'm sure they wouldn't mind unloading Gonzalez or Upton for Garcia :-).
