OJ Mayo's "twin" Bill Walker was ruled ineligable this coming year. He apparently played a freshmen season of high school ball before returning to 8th grade and has already used his 4 years of high school eligability up. Interesting to see where he ends up.

I apologize in advance. Atleast we can't say he wasn't using his head...

I haven't heard any buzz about that, but I could see it. Most coaches want to develop a relationship with a kid before they allow a commitment to happen. Reggie Rose isn't allowing that to happen, which is the reason UNC isn't recruiting him at all. Reggie isn't allowing much contact from coaches and is keeping everything close to the vest, so to speak. Not saying it's a good or bad thing from Reggie, just different. It's also widely speculated/known that both Reggie and Derrick are looking to be one and done wherever they go.

When you consider his first professional appearance was a 2/3's of an inning 5 ER outing, his 3 and a third inning giving up 3 runs, but only one earned looks alot better. I'm sure his numbers will continue to get better as he ends the season. His last outing was nice, 1 IP, 1 K, 0 ER, and his first win. I'm more excited about Daniel Cortes though on that squad. I'm kind of suprised he hasn't been talked about much here. 19 years old and putting up nice numbers in A ball as his ERA contiues to fall. Edit: just noticed the talk about Cortes on the other thread, funny.

Andy Katz main/only sources into basketball programs are the assistant coaches, he's notorious for that. Also, the USC coaches could tell ESPN about OJ's commitment, they just can't use his name. They can say something like "Just to let you know, but the top prospect in the 2007 class just committed to us".

I'm interested to see what OJ thinks of the USC coaches giving this info to ESPN already. It could either piss him off, or further lock him up, big gamble. Then again what do they have to lose with their basketball tradition, or lack thereof.

OJ Mayo, #1 recruit in 07 class and most highly touted guard since Lebron told USC coaches and players that he is committing to them. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2510229 I am just happy that he didn't join Huggins at K-State.

Demetri has PLENTY of athletecism himself. I've seen him rise up and dunk on an athletic 6'5 shooting guard that tried to meet him at the rim. After next summer's AAU circuit, I fully expect Demetri to rise into the top 50 range with ease. He's a hell of a pick-up, especially with his skillset. He's the type of player that has enough talent to produce right away, yet has enough to work on with his shooting that he should stick around for a few years atleast.

eddie griffin ... multi-tasker

He's had serious mental problems for a while now. I hope this finally forces those around him to make him seek help. -
Illini got a great commitment today from 07 PG/SG 6'4 Demetri McCarney. Hell of a pick-up. Rated 4 star by Scout, 13th best prospect, but if he's not one of the top 5 PG's in the 07 class, I will eat my shoe. He reminds me ALOT of Derrick Rose, similar size, athletecism, passing ability, and desire to attack the rim. Great pick-up. He said, "I’ve been dreaming about going to Illinois". http://illinois.scout.com/2/543729.html

RIP Randy, we lost one of the truly great people in the college football game.

Official 2006 NBA Draft Thread

Tyrus actually has very solid range and showed it off all year long. I would compare Tyrus to a better Udonis Haslem, very similar games, but Tyrus is half an inch taller, and has even more athletecism, but a similar jumpshot that keeps defenses honest. -
Not to rain on your parade, but Cruz is already 23 years old and hitting in low A ball. I do think if we move him to Kannapolis soon that he could hold his own.

Specifically the part when Jack Black punts the dog off the bridge. I couldn't not stop laughing for like 30 minutes.

Heads, only ISU and Nebraska had offered before Bates committed. ISU got a good one, for more than one reason. It gets thrown around a lot right now, especially if you are black and can run, but he really reminds me of a smaller Vince Young. Has a similar quirky throwing motion, similar shotgun set in high school, similar arm strength, and an upright running motion with 4.5-4.6 speed. Granted, he's 3 inches shorter and about 40 pounds lighter, but he could be a very good one.

Prospects aren't always the same. Some of them want to be a part of a huge program, others want to be the cornerstone that gets a program off the ground. Zook is a very good recruiter, Illinois is an elite academic school with a national reputation in other sports, and "Juice" would be his QB for 2-3 years at least. That's why I have felt all along that the Illini would be a major player in his recruitment. He might not be able to turn down ND in the end, but it will be close.

I can see both sides. Basketball can get very aggressive, especially when fouls are occuring, called or not. At one point, I got slammed into a wall going up for a lay-up and there was no call, so my blood was boiling and I ran down court as fast as I could and tackled the kid that fouled me. Yet, the kid could have broken his neck with the takedown he used. I can understand a swing after the series of events that apparently happened. But the rest was just from a person not being able to control themselves when their temper flares and calls for anger management at the very least. There's retalliation, and then there's taking it to a new level, which this kid did.

Things are being blown way out of proportion. Dirk Nowitski also happens to have made and taken more free throws than any other player in playoff history this year, passing Jordan a few games ago. Superstars that attack the hole will make their own breaks, it's just part of the game. -
Game 7 -- Stanley Cup Playoffs

lol Rowand, it's been a hell of a year. My sister and her family live in Raleigh-Durham and have been to some games, so I have been rooting for the Hurricanes as well. Great win for the team and the community. It's funny having Roy Williams on the big screen at the RBC wishing the team well, when the game is based in NC State territory. -

Going exactly as I thought. Neither team will lose at home this entire series. Wade will put up a few more great efforts, but it won't be enough in Dallas. -
I used to have some Nike's that had air in the insole part and eventually made the same squeeky noise. I thought it was because of the air, so I never bought any like those again and haven't had a problem with it. I also believe it was because my shoes had gotten water inside the air part.
