Muslim driver takes out innocent students
Palehosefan replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
I've been following this for a while now. It's crazy, as the Pit is nowhere near any kind of road. You actually have to drive offroad around about 3 buildings just to get to it. It's amazing that nobody was killed, especially considering I heard he was going around 40 mph from a few witnesses. He was a student at UNC as late as the Fall 2005. -

*warning, NOT Big Ten related :-). Great post/article from a Kentucky fan, of all places. http://kentucky.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid...88&sid=&style=2 -
Nice to see SOMEBODY still gets excited about defense.

I'm still riding pretty smoothly on the Brandon Allen, Aaron Cunningham, and Micah Schurnstein bandwagons myself.

From the data, UNC plays alot of average to good teams, while State plays a few great teams like Duke and GW, and then alot of bad teams, 11 of them. Agree 100% there. If UNC is a 3 seed, then NC State is arguably a 4 seed, 5 at the very worst. -

Ok, I'll break it down even further. NC State only plays Duke once this year, while UNC gets them twice. UNC's opponents all year long are 430-290 60%, while State's are 418-333 55%. Out of UNC's 26 games this year, only 5 teams have a losing record, compared to 11 teams on State's schedule. -

UNC has faced 7 teams out of conference with 16 or more wins on the year, compared to 4 for NC State. NC State's first 5 wins came against teams that are a combined 53-89 on the year, 37% win percentage. -
That's honestly not why I said it. I'm glad nobody is picking UNC, and I don't blame them. I just don't like NC State's chances at all, or anyone's outside of Duke in the ACC to be honest. As for Wes Miller, you would be suprised. He doesn't fit the stereotype of a small white walk-on. He's an amazing shooter, but his best attribute is his man defense, its as good as anyone in the ACC, he's amazing. It has been totally un-expected, he was supposed to be a practice player, but he's proven to be so much more.

Rowand you can be excited now, any chance of Duke losing a #1 seed went out the window with Memphis losing tonight, yipee. -
I saw that one from the contendors thread at the bottom of this board right now, thats what interested me as well. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Depaul destroying Syracuse on ESPN, I LOVE it. Syracuse has 19 wins, but doesn't deserve to be in the tourney talk. They build up their win totals every year by beating a cupcake schedule, and their best win this year is against West Virginia, who isn't exactly tearing it up lately. -
Zoom, I've noticed you like NC State alot this year. I'm just wondering why. They are the 4th best team in a weak ACC this year. Their leading scorer Cameron Bennerman is averaging only 13.5 ppg, while their defense is the 4th worst in the ACC. Cedric Simmons is very talented in the paint, but he doesn't rebound or score as much as he should, with 12 ppg and only 6.5 rpg, he dissapears too often. UNC has beaten them twice this year by an average margin of 18.5 ppg. As for Texas, I agree, I've never been a big fan of their chances. Just not enough depth. One of the best starting lineups in the nation, but nothing else.

My point is that comparing Chris Paul to Mayo is very odd. Paul has always been a pure point guard. Paul is a slight 6' pure PG that gambles on defense, but comes up with steals. Mayo is a 6'4 and growing combo guard that plays PG on his high school team because he also happens to be the best ballhandler and passer on his squad. Mayo has ridiculous athletecism and finishes plays above the rim unlike Paul. Mayo loves to take his game outside, while Paul drives most plays. Mayo will not play PG at the pro level, he's way too special of a scorer to have that taken away by having him distribute the ball to others. He's the kind of special talent that will come into the league as a rookie at the 2G spot and average 20+ppg. He's similar to Chris Paul in that he has played PG for his team, and he can put the ball in the hole, otherwise their games are completely different.

UConn, Nova, Florida, Kansas.

That is ridiculous analysis. Lets see here. Daniel Horton scored as many points as Chris Paul in high school, and is 3 inches taller, therefore he must be a better version of OJ Mayo, I'll inform the scouts. By the way, Paul scored 61 in a game, not 63, it was for his grandfather who was slain at 61 years old.

GHC, WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT?!? That's going to scar me for life. I don't even know whether to laugh or cry, I'm in a state of shock right now. -
lol come on, thats like saying, "The sky is blue, but I guess my finger is never going to heal". Chris Paul and OJ Mayo are completely different players, different styles, different sizes, and different games. Paul has been a true PG all his life, and he's barely 6'. OJ Mayo has played alot of SG in his career, but plays some point for his high school team because he's their best ballhandler and passer as well as scorer. If Mayo had a true PG on his team, he would move to the 2G slot with Walker flanking him at the SF role. But they don't.

Casey is a buffoon. It's a running joke with UNC fans, if we see Rashad playing well in the 1st half, we know he will be benched for most of the 2nd half, its like clockwork. Doesn't make any sense, but it happens, alot.
-
Mayo is a combo guard, whether you want to hear it or not. Rose is a true point, and has as much potential as anyone in the class, Mayo included.
-
I wouldn't worry about it just yet. There is still plenty of time for late bloomers and kids to show their stuff this summer and fly up the rankings. Rose isn't going to be knocked out of the top PG spot by anyone though, he's nasty.
