All the fans here are getting fed up with Pat Knight. He's going to be taking over the program when Bob leaves, yet he's been on the radio numerous times including tonight whining about not being able to recruit elite recruits. Hey Pat, either go back in time and fix your daddy's temper problems, or shut the f*** up and get out and recruit. -
Damn, that's much better than my proposal. I tossed her the ring and said "do it." But seriously congrats.

Johnson checked in with a 4.43 at the combine, but only weighed 222 pounds at the time. Lendale has been listed as 6'1 225 pounds, and has been clocked at 4.43, so it will be interesting to see how he performs at the combine if he has gained 10 pounds like Johnson has. As for Reggie Bush, he's a little different then Barry Sanders, Barry packed 200 pounds on a 5'8 frame, which is much different than Reggie's 6'0 frame. Clinton Portis is an inch shorter than Reggie and weighs 12 more pounds. Tiki is two inches shorter than Reggie, but weighs the same. Getting 350 carries for a guy of Tiki's size takes a major toll on their body, this was the first time he's gone over 322 carries, but take a look at this quote from a few days ago, at only 30 years old. "Q: Do you feel your own biological clock ticking? Barber: “All the time. It’s every year. Can I do it again? Can I prepare the same way again? Can I have the right fortune and luck to have the seasons I’ve had the last couple of years? I don’t know. You never know. It’s the strange thing about this game. You don’t really decide when you’re done. It kind of decides for you. And I fear that.” " As for Walter Payton, he was just a freak, Jerome Bettis inside a 5'10 200 pound body. One of the biggest things Reggie has going for him however, is the fact he can make people miss, but is also quick enough ala Barry Sanders to move his body right before contact to not take the brunt of the hit. That would lead me to believe he can have a long and durable career, even at 200-210 pounds.

Teams average about 500 rushing attempts a year. With Davis the bigger and more experienced back, he will likely end up with 250-280 carries. But they will also want to get the ball to Bush as much as possible, so he will get alot of touches in the backfield as well, just not quite the load of Davis. Bush at 205 pounds, likely can't handle a full-worload out of the backfield for a team his rookie year. If he bulks up 10-15 pounds over the next few years, I could see him becoming an elite back like LT. One thing is for sure, Houston HAS to run the ball more often and more effective next year to save Carr and the putrid defense.

Ronnie had a nice first season, with 907 rushing yards, but a 4.4 ypc. Cadillac had a good rookie campaign with 1178 yards and a 4.1 ypc. Both are going to be very solid backs in the league, but I still love Cadillac for his shiftyness and charisma. As for Bush vs. White, both will have very productive pro careers. I also liken White to Larry Johnson, with power, but also an unbelievable willpower for the endzone. I think White will be the better RB, but Bush will be the better player. I believe Bush will split time at RB and WR, and will get 200 carries, and 55 catches for around 1,500 total yards. I can see Lendale getting 300 carries on the right team with 1,200 yards and 10 TD's.

They played very well, you guys should cause some havoc in the ACC, especially with a very good PG, in a PG barren league this year. Virginia has a huge amount of potential as a university to become an elite basketball school, and maybe Leitao might be the guy to get you there. -
USC adds another top 100 5 star players today. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=15&p=9&c=8&sT...Ids=736&yr=2006 They now have 3 of the top 5 safety prospects in the nation, and 11 of their 15 commits are ranked in the top 100. Disgusting.

UNC goes down again. Just too many dumbasses on the squad. Very, very low basketball IQ for guys like David Noel, Reyshawn Terry, Byron Sanders, Quentin Thomas, and Danny Green. UNC can't find a PG, can't find an outside shooter, and can't find any help for Tyler Hansbrough. Tough season. -
angelo's dinner with t.o.
Palehosefan replied to thedoctor's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
T.O. was quoted as saying "while it was a good dinner, it would have been at a better place if Ted Thompson(Packers GM) was at the table instead." -
Wow, thats pretty crazy how similar they are. I have a feeling you will see one of the two changing their layout pretty soon, especially if sportsline throws a hissy fit over it.

Its not as dark as it used to be, and they are implementing Flash even more, so I can't complain. There's a heck of alot of info thrown at you just on the home page though, as others have said.

What do you guys think of the apparent new ESPN.com homepage. I thought I was on the wrong site at first...

Kenny is staying another year, and it was indeed Sexton who quit football. He was arrested last year after being found in the gutter, claiming himself as God. He's been diagnosed with Lyme disease.
-
Didn't he quit football all together becaue of mental health problems?

Illinois also only brought in two commitments, its very tough to make the list with only two commitments, Notre Dame was the only one that made the list with only two commitments. Illinois is bringing in the #5 center, and a solid PF, with #1 SG Eric Gordon coming in 2007, with 4 star Bill Cole, and a 3 star center. But I have to admit, I've never seen a school recruit such skinny players, its crazy. The Illini are also running neck and neck with UNC for Derrick Rose, the number 1 PG in the 07 class.

Steelers draft... 1st. Heath Miller, TE Virginia, grade A, big part of offense, nice blocker, great hands. 2nd. Bryant McFadden, CB FSU, grade C, very athletic, big, but attitude a question, still most likely our starter for a few years. 3rd. Trai Essex, T NW, grade C, gets some p/t and looks good when he's playing. 4th. Fred Gibson, WR UGA, grade D, hasn't earned p/t, even with Steelers need of WR's and big receivers especially. 5th. Rian Wallace, LB Temple, grade C, on depth chart at MLB, provides nice depth. 6th. Chris Kemoeatu, OG Utah, grade C, on depth chart at guard, nice depth. 7th Shaun Nua, DE BYU, grade F, haven't heard a thing about him. 7th Noah Herronn, RB NW, grade C, solid for 7th round, on depth chart at RB. Overall, I would grade the draft a B-, or C+, provided some nice depth, but later rounds haven't provided as much as in the recent past, atleast not yet.

That article was from December 20th, when he visited Miami on the 16th. I haven't found anything new on him about the Bama visit. If I see something I will try to give you a heads up on here.
-
Sam Young cancelled both his Michigan and Penn State visits, and will decide between USC and Notre Dame, with ND as the likely frontrunner. Although I've heard coach Carr has one final in-home visit to change his mind. Steve Schilling is pretty much down to USC and Michigan. If he decides to take his USC visit this weekend, then I would have to think they will be the frontrunners. Coach Carr had an in-home tonight to try to lock him up without a USC visit. As for Andre Smith, he enjoyed his visit to Bama this past weekend, and Alabama should be there for him until the end. But LSU gets a visit this weekend to try and sway him. USC, LSU, and Bama should be battling for him until signing day.

Good for Bama and McElroy, this has been brewing for a while, he's just been waiting for an offer. He's a heck of a QB, but Tech already had a top 15 QB commit, and Bama really needed a good QB recruit. I think it will work out well for all involved. How about these senior numbers for him? "As a senior, he had 450 attempts with 321 completions for 4,600 yards passing, 56 touchdowns, nine interceptions, 700 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns. McElroy was named first team all-state and 5A offensive player of the year after leading his squad to the state title. Carroll has now won three of the last four 5A state titles. " Thats insane, and Carroll is one of the best programs in the nation. Also, good for Weiss to keep his word, I'm liking him more and more every day.

#1 QB Mitch Mustain re-committed to Arkansas today. I still don't agree with him being a top 5 QB in the class, much less the #1, but Arkansas still got themselves a good one. Arkansas almost lost Mustain, even after hiring his high school coach as OC. Go from high school coach to OC at an SEC school, quite a jump, I wonder why...

heart attack after fumble
Palehosefan replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I've never been physically sick after a game, just emotionally drained/crushed. I can understand that causing a heart attack though, my heart stopped for a second after the fumble as I was in disbelief. -
LB, Thomas Howard, from here in Lubbock, and went to my dad's alma mater UTEP. RB, Taurean Henderson, Texas Tech, very underrated, quickness, decent size, and amazing catching out of the backfield, very solid 3rd down back at the worst for someone. Daneil Manning, CB, ACU, alot of my friends attend ACU, and Manning is for real, its shocking to say the least to see someone leaving early from Abilene Christian University for the NFL draft.
