Yeah, Mustain looked atrocious in the game, but it had to be a case of nerves because almost all of his throws were high. Jevan Sneed by far looked the best, with Tim Tebow and Zach Frazer a distant 2nd to me. I was pretty dissapointed in this years game, the offenses were completely out of sinc outside of Wells rushing. The WR's in particular didn't do much for me. Percy Harvin has amazing athleticism, but not much going on in his head, which is very sad. But overall, I thought this was the weakest WR, TE, and QB group in a few years. The LB's, DE's, and OL were impressive. Just to re-state my amazement again, USC has 14 commits... 9!!! are ranked in the top 100, and their average star ranking is 4.36, and they are still in the top 5 of 11 more 5 star players. Poor, poor USC, if they only get 4 star players the rest of the way, their star rankings will drop.

So what have we learned today class? The ACC is Duke and the midgets again this year, you have Duke at the top, and Virginia at the bottom, and everyone else trying to screw up the least to take home 2nd place. Damn you Sean Dockery, I'll never get over that shot. I know, it's sad.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't terrified of playing in Indy. This team doesn't do so well when they can't hear the cadence, as evidenced early in this game. But on the bright side, Willie always has his best games on turf where his speed is even more evident. One thing is for sure, Pitt is going to have to control the game with a consistent rushing attack as our CB's blow as usual.

Unfortunately, that didn't help Kordell's QB development, and I wouldn't do that to a guy like Vince who needs a QB coach to polish up his motion and reads immediately. Vince would flourish in a place like New Orleans, with Deuce in the backfield, and Horn/Stallworth out wide, that offense would be a better version of Atlanta's attack. Not to mention the large NO fanbase from Texas. I honestly don't see a chance of Reggie Bush/Vince Young being the top 2 picks in this draft, no matter who is making the selection. Scouts will be in for a treat when they see Bush, Vince, and Mario Williams do their thing in the combines.

Rex, it wasn't specifically about those comments, I was just stating in general that Lemming is a big ND fan. But more to the point, Lemming has stated several times that Mustain is ND's to lose, it almost seems that he believes ND is too good to offer the national player of the year because of previous commitments. Whenever a player of Mustain's caliber wants to come, there's going to be room, no matter who's feelings get hurt. I also think its a very bad idea to not get atleast a QB in each class to build depth. The A-A game was enjoyable, there was a few suprises with commitments, and Chris Wells really played well for the East and OSU. His lead blocker most of the game Jerrell Miller, one of the top LB's in the nation also, committed to UNC, so it was enjoyable for me also. Well it might make you feel better to know that Lemming is a HUGE ND homer, so you have to take everything he says with a grain of salt. If Mustain wants a clear shot at the starting job, without having to face alot of talent in his own class at the position, then I can see Bama being the winner. I just feel Weiss' success with Quinn, and the lure of ND back again, that Mustain is ND's to lose even with 2 other QB commits. I don't see McElroy changing his mind, but I see Scouts #52 QB in the nation, 3 star Matthew Malouf dying for interest from Bama, but no offer. He most likely could be had if he's recruited in the next week or two by Bama, he's got very nice numbers and vitals. 6'2 211, 4.52 40, they just need to set him up a visit, he has his last two weekends open before signing day.

I understand what you mean Bob, but you don't have to worry about Vick being taken in the 1st now. I see him in the same situation as Adrian McPherson last year, a guy with alot of talent, but not much going on in the head. Some team will take a flyer on him, most likely Atlanta, to see if Mike can keep him in check. I see Vick as a WR on the next level, that would be odd to see Michael throwing to Marcus, but it could happen. Watch out under-age girls in Atlanta!

I can agree with that, there's alot of hypocrisy around. I know most UNC basketball players are driving around in new SUV's, and I don't really want to know why. But another funny thing, Raymond Felton spent his 3 years at UNC driving around in a Gremlin the entire time.

The problem with the graduate rates calculations is two-fold. 1. If a player transfers, they are automatically counted as a non-graduate. 2. If a player leaves early, they are a non-graduate. If a player doesn't graduate on time, he's counted as a non-graduate. Alot of players have to go back to school for more than 4 years to get their degree. The rest, you are right, they just weren't cut out for it. I wish I could see a list of percentage of "regular" students who don't graduate, or don't graduate on time.

Things like easier grading, discounts on items, "free" stuff of course do happen everywhere. But I'm arguing that things like free substantial money gifts, free cars, papers written for you, etc DON'T happen everywhere. Most athletes do get "stipends", hell I've seen some female softball players that got higher weekend stipends then I would earn in a week. I guess we could sit here all day and argue what "cheating" is considered, I'm just saying that significant cheating doesn't happen everywhere. The funniest part to me is that I have a good friend, who played and was recruited as a WR at Tennessee, and he got even less than the female softball players I talked about. I don't have a problem with easier jobs for athletes either, or stipends, as being a student athlete pretty much takes up your possible job earnings time. It's almost impossible to be a student, football player, and have a legit job, and stay sane. I'm having a hard enough time with just two of those 3.

I'm not arguing some places have student-athletes going to no-show jobs, but it doesn't happen everywhere. As for half the students not going to college if not for sports, I will buy that for college in general, but cases like the NC State basketball team don't fit that profile.

Its not always what it seems, but I'm not saying cheating doesn't go on. Don't forget, college athletes like that have their 20-30,000 dollar tuition already paid, and alot of their families had money saved up for that purpose, that they then allow their child to spend on something. I know not everyone has 10k+ saved up for college, but my family is of average wealth and I know I could have afforded phones like that if I had my college already paid off. They also get "special" deals on equipment like that or cars from their college's boosters in the area, which can be considered cheating, just not by NCAA standards, atleast to an extent.

SHOCKED Nice to see the win at all costs spirit alive and well in Blacksburg. But hey, they are done with Vick now that they have gotten 3 years out of him and they don't need him anymore, now they can come out and kick him off the team and look like the hero's.

With Mustain, the main competition seems to be ND and Alabama. Alabama seems to be getting nervous about the QB situation and has offered a few more QB's lately, including Greg McElroy at QB commit to Texas Tech. So that leads me to believe they aren't to confident in their QB recruiting right now. As for ND's current commits, Mustain isn't going to be scared off by either, most of the elite players in the nation relish competition, especially when you are ranked as the best in the nation at your position. With Quinn being around for one more year at most and the compeition being wide open after, and with Weiss at the helm, I still see ND as the frontrunner here.

lol Heads, here's my opinion on ISU's class. According to Rivals, ISU has 10 3 star recruits, compared to only 6 on Scouts rankings. But Rivals has MUCH more film on ISU's recruits, so I would tend to favor their rankings here. Whenever Scout doesn't have film on a kid, they will rank them as a 2 star. Austin Arnaud is Rivals #6 dual-threat QB, and has a nice arm, with a self reported 60-65 yard passing maximum. He's actually ranked ahead of 2 of the top 20 QB's on Scouts list by being at the #6 dual-threat QB position on Rivals board. He's a very solid commit. ISU also has 4 OL committed, all with good size and most ranked as 3 stars. It's very important to get 3-4 OL commits every year to build depth at the position. ISU has Kellen White, Drenard Williams, and Devin McDowell who are ranked only 2 stars, but all have reported 40 times of 4.5 or better, another reason I look at vitals closer than star rankings. Once you get past 5 star players, it becomes a crap-shoot at best, and those with great athletic ability are ahead of the game. I've seen a study that even 5 star players, its a 50% chance at best if they become a good/great player at the collegiate level. My favorite player would definitely have to be Kris Means the 6' 220 pound LB from Colorado. With just a little bit of time with the strength coach to put on 5-10 pounds, he should be ready to attack people with his 4.53 speed and his great natural strength. Kris also could see some time at FB, as he can definitely run the ball also, and his 4.53 speed is legit, I've seen 3 video's of him and he was the fastest player on the field each time, whether at LB or running the ball around and through people. Cody Habben, could be another 3 star OL commit for ISU if Washington doesn't blow him away on his visit. Kelvin Thompson a 3 star RB from Texas should be a battle between Iowa/ISU. With 21 commits, I would bet you will see 4-6 more pull the trigger for ISU in the next month.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'll post some stuff about Iowa and ND now for Jason and the other ND fans on board. ND football according to Scout: 2 5 star recruits, 10 4 stars, 13 3 stars, 1 2 star kicker. Total of 26 commits, 25 is the maximum allowed for a class, but there's always kids who have to prep, or who enroll early in January and count against last years class, so ND will probably take 1-2 more commits late if they are 4-5 star types. Mitch Mustain, Sam Young, Terrance Austin, Butch Lewis, and Gerald McCoy would fall into that category. Needless to say, ND is going to have a top 5 recruiting class and a very nice building block. My favorite recruit of theirs isn't their highest rated recruit, but their biggest. Chris Stewart is a 4 star 6'5 360 pound OL, who can maul people. There is actually a picture of him stretching in the Army A-A game where he is doing the splits completely for 10 minutes warming up. You just don't see that kind of flexibility from such a giant man. If they can reel in Mitch Mustain, they have reeled in the best QB prospect in the nation and possibly the replacement for Quinn after a red-shirt year. Iowa football according to Scout: Definitely not living up to last years class, but has some solid players and good athletes that are only ranked 2 stars. I look at atlhetic ability more so than stars, and much like Iowa State's class, they have some solid athletes for only being 2-3 stars for the most part. But Iowa does have 3 4 star recruits, including a kicker, a DE, and a TE. My favorite recruit here would have to be the highest ranked one, AJ Edds the 4 star TE, 6'4 220 pounds and runs a 4.6 40, with plenty of room to grow. Not a great blocker yet, and is actually a very nice LB, so his position could be in question at the next level, though most have him listed at TE. Arvell Nelson is still on the board as a 3 star QB, 24th ranked QB in nation, but I like him the best out of any current commits, he will be a battle with Tennessee likely until Feb. 1st. But he's a tall, 6'4, athletic QB who likes to stay in the pocket until flushed out, and has great accuracy with 33 TD's and only 4 INT's his senior year. Iowa should be in good shape there.

I think you are thinking of Ramone Johnson, the OL. He would be a huge get for the Illini, pun intended. He's visiting you guys the 20th of this month as probably his last visit, if he can make it out of Tennessee on the 13th without commiting, you guys should be in good shape.

I really like Isiah Williams, he's going to be a great QB. He's not only accurate with 22 TD's and 3 INT's, but he's an amazing running QB. In 9 games, he has 66 rushed for 1,441 yards, almost 22 yards a rush, thats insane. The guy can also throw the ball 70 yards in the air, so his arm will never be questioned.
