  1. Gordon is an amazing commitment for the Illini. Thats as good as you can do to start off the 2007 recruiting season. Gordon has an amazing outside shot with a very quick release. He also has explosive leaping ability and is still growing at 6'3. When you guys sign Derrick Rose later on, you will match what UNC did this year with the top PG and top SG in the respective classes.
  2. On 4, when you find it, this will help... http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html
  3. I could go for a Campbells Chunky Soup Bowl. I also don't like the city named bowls, but I don't mind the Champs Sports Bowl. Speaking of bowls, UNC gets the task of beating VT at Blacksburg to become bowl eligable tonight. Fun stuff.
  4. UConn is fantastic, with Duke's weakness showing tonight against Drexel(athleticism), UConn should be in the drivers seat right now, even without Williams. Also, Demarcus Nelson hurt his ankle, so that could cause some big problems. Just think, UConn could have had Charlie Villenueva and Andrew Bynum on the team this year as well. That would have been nasty. Almost as much as UNC last year if JR Smith, JamesOn Curry, and Dwight Howard would have matriculated to Chapel Hill.
  5. Gonzaga has some ridiculous shooters all over the squad. They hit their 3's, and more importantly, they hit their free throws. I severely underestimated them this year.
  6. Thanks for the compliment. I didn't mean to hijack the thread either, its great news that he's doing better.
  7. I haven't seen other Bears games, but I watched all of the Panthers-Bears game and was very impressed with Orton. He was making great decisions and put the ball in the right spot for the most part, Moose just couldn't hang on to a few of them or his stats would have been better. Needless to say, if you guys want to trade him for Maddox before he gets lynched in Pittsburgh, thats alright with me.
  8. I don't see him being dealt, and they are actually in 1st place right now with a nice rotation going on. I'm hoping he sticks around, he and McCants have seemed to hit it off. But Chandler, Deng, and Hinrich would have to atleast peak Minnesota's interests. That would give them a starting big man, starting SF, and starting PG. With a lineup of Hinrich, McCants, Deng, Chandler, and Griffin for the future. While leaving the Bulls with Duhon, Gordon, Nocioni, Sweetney, and Garnett as a possible starting lineup.
  9. lol they weren't great, but lets look at them. Went about as expected, won by 22 after sloppy early play. The Zags did go nuts from outside, and everywhere on the floor in general, including shooting 54% from outside, and 56% on the game and 82% from the line. Only Texas' 24 turnovers including 9 from Gibson by himself kept this was close. But WV continued their play from last years tourney, I will give them that. They will be a very solid club. It was indeed a very close game, an ugly one at that. Iowa shot 38% while UK brought home a 32.8%. There are going to be alot of unhappy UK fans this year with Tubby's slowdown style with the athletes they have. Was very impressed with Henderson's progression from last year for Iowa. Arizona shot 28.3% for the game and won, thats all that needs to be said here. Going about as expected, UConn let their lead slip a bit, but up 6 at half, and should add on in the 2nd half. Not quite the night of hoops that I had hoped, but it is early and teams are going to struggle. I guess I'm expecting to much, to early.
  10. Gonzaga did indeed shoot their minds out. I've never seen a team shoot as well as they did in the 2nd half. Even their big man Batista is automatic from the FT line. Shooting will get you into the tournament, but like the old Florida teams, it won't get you all the way unless you don't have an off game in the entire tourney.
  11. Chaminade vs. #4 (at the moment) Michigan State - 2:30 (eastern) ESPN2, Ugly game, unless cramps play a factor again. But I don't expect this game to be within 30 points. #9 Gonzaga vs. #24 Maryland - 4:30 ESPN2, Maryland will take this game. Without Turiaf, the Zags don't have much inside. MD has more depth and better talent overall. Unless the Zags go nuts from outside, MD should win by 10+. #14 West Virginia vs. #2 Texas - 7:00 ESPN2, should be an ugly game. Pittsnogle can't handle Aldridge down low, nobody can stop Gibson on the WV roster. Pittsnogle will get his points from outside, but the game shouldn't be close. #20 Iowa vs. #8 Kentucky - 9:00 ESPN2, I like UK here, even without Morris. Rondo and Alleyne will do a great job defensively on Horner and Brunner respectively. Joe Crawford will outgun Adam Haluska. I do think this will be the best game of the day, along with Kansas and Arizona. #10 Arizona vs. Kansas - 9:00 ESPN, Arizona lost alot inside when Frye left, and lost alot outside when Stoudemire left. I see Kansas with the early upset here. You will see some real nice freshmen going at it, Marcus Williams at Arizona, though less heralded than the KU frosh, will be a very good one. Arkansas vs. #3 Connecticut - 11:30 ESPN2, yuck, thats all you can say about this one, yuck. Arkansas might stay with them early, but UConn's talent will outclass them by the 2nd half.
  12. Not only that, but I'm picking Texas over USC in the championship game. UT's running attack will keep Bush and Leinart off the field more often than any other game this season that USC has played. Texas is one of the very few teams that can almost match them talent wise. My whole point was that without Bush, there's still not gonna be a USC demise in the cards, as long as Carroll is still there.
  13. I understand that. But there has to be a national champion every year, and nobody, even without Reggie, has more talent than USC, even next year. I don't see a reason they can't continue to beat the UCLA, Cal, ASU's of the world. 2006 Date Opponent Sept. 9 at Arkansas Sept. 16 Nebraska Sept. 23 at Arizona Sept. 30 at Washington State Oct. 7 Washington Oct. 14 Arizona State Oct. 28 at Oregon State Nov. 4 at Stanford Nov. 11 Oregon Nov. 18 California Nov. 25 Notre Dame Dec. 2 at UCLA I could see Notre Dame giving them problems again, but that will be at home. UCLA loses their star QB Drew Olson.
  14. Go Colts! I need a Colts win over the Bengals and then someone to come kidnap Maddox and Cowher, and then kidnap the entire Colts roster, and BOOM the Steelers will be AFC champs
  15. Don't be so sure. USC's recruiting the past few years has been at a level thats never been seen before. In 04, they actually had 19 recruits with an AVERAGE ranking of 4 starts, thats absurd. JD Booty, has played in over 10 games in his career, going 33-53 for 412 yards and 3 TD's. He has all the tools and was the number 1 QB recruit in the nation in 2003 and has had 2 years to learn the system from Leinart. He's still likely going to have Lendale White and Desmond Reed in his backfield. Those two have combined for 1182 yards and 20 TD's themselves. Dwyane Jarret will be returning as possibly the best WR in the nation, Steve Smith will also possibly return as another almost 1,000 yard receiver. Patrick Turner and Fred Davis will also be returning, they have the same size as Jarret and had the same accolades coming out of high school. Jimmy Miller a back-up TE was all-everything coming out of high school and will be ready to step in for P/T in Byrd's place. Desmond Reed will also be back like I said, and he might has been amazing on kick-off returns, averaging 38.8 in his 5 tries. The Ting twins will also be returning, as well as alot of the front 7 will be back, with unbelievable talent backing them up. Also, they have commitments from two of the top 4 safety recruits in the nation to possibly take some of Bing's vacant P/T. They are also in the mix for guys like CJ Spiller, Vidal Hazelton etc, some of the top 50 recruits in the nation at RB and WR to step in for Bush. I don't even have time to go into the amount of talent they have, just as backups learning the system every year. Its just not fair.
  16. Reggie Bush... What more can you say? He looks like Gayle Sayers did in the old NFL films. Except that Gale was playing against slower white guys for the most part and Reggie just makes even the best athletes on the opposing sidelines look silly. With that said, Fresno isn't folding yet, even after 28 points given up in the 3rd quarter.
  17. Thats very interesting concerning Young. If thats the case, and I wouldn't be suprised if he has improved it that much. Then we truly do have a special player coming through our system. If he can improve his eye at the plate like he has his power and his arm the past 2 offseasons, then we have hit a goldmine.
  18. He has his upside's and downsides. He instills discipline and makes his players actually be student athletes. But he also is an ass. I have to say I like him though, but its probably because I have a temper also. I can understand why people still don't like him.
  19. TT just totally bewildered by the 2-3 zone. Ugly stuff. Its a very young TT team, but this is just bad. It will take a while for the 7 freshmen to learn the system, but they will be ok at the end of the year with more depth than Knight has ever had here.
  20. Both Bill Parcels and Romeo Crennel were on the defensive staff at Texas Tech from 75-77.
  21. Also, whats up with their Mike Jarvis GW comments? Is that some kind of inside joke or did they just forget who the coach was? That just seems completely out of left field to me.
  22. Not a chance that Tubby is on the hot seat. But don't be suprised if he leaves after this year anyway. Some rumblings from that area for a while, not sure if it would be for the NBA, but thats what I would assume.
  23. Thats a good point, even "superfans" without alot of money can ruin a program, guys are springing up over the internet with superfan sites and calling their scrhools recruits bothering them all the time and asking ridiculous questions, ruining their schools chances. It gets ridiculous.
