Don't forget VT rode Vick's running ability all the way to the championship game, Texas is doing the same thing this year with Vince. Having an athletic QB is a huge bonus. There's not to many holes on OSU this year, you just have to be a talented team and put together a complete game and you will have a chance against them ala Texas.

Young still has alot to prove, he put up good numbers against a 1-AA team and Ball State who is ranked 113 in the nation in rush defense. Even Iowa State is only 63rd in the nation in rush D. Even last year in limited playing time most of his numbers came against Kent State. He still has to prove he can do it against good defenses outside of the rivalry game. We will see.

Yeah, my logic is that they will be emotional for the MSU game, and manage to put together a good game to "save" the season. Then they will have a letdown against Minnesota with a hell of a running game. Iowa doesn't have the ground attack to beat Michigan if they focus solely on Tate. Thats my logic anyways.

Yep, something along those lines. Here's how I see the rest of their schedule shaping up. Sat., Oct. 1 at Michigan State* suprising win Sat., Oct. 8 Minnesota* (HC) loss Sat., Oct. 15 Penn State* win Sat., Oct. 22 at Iowa* win Sat., Oct. 29 at Northwestern* win Sat., Nov. 12 Indiana* win Sat., Nov. 19 Ohio State* loss 7-4

Not many teams in the nation will be able to stop Calhoun. Wisconsin's line is big and powerful, and eventually you will be worn down. Don't discount UM's D because of that alone. Michigan will always have the talent, with several back to back top 5 recruiting classes to build on. People just have to start stepping up on defense, they have the talent, they just have to find the desire. I believe UM will finally click pretty soon and while not a normal UM season, will end up in a nice bowl game again.

lmao, I never stated I was smarter than anyone, you made that assumption on your own. The Patriots outgained the Steelers by 33%, and held the second leading rusher in the league to 55 yards. You have watched Ben play a game against the Patriots, I've seen him play every game in his career, he's dramatically different when he plays the Patriots for whatever reason. The Steelers were beaten in field position, field goals, punt returns, rushing, passing by 156 yards, and sacks. If you can't see thats domination, then I don't know what to tell you. In the NFL these days, thats about as bad as it gets. I and other Steelers fans know something drastic has to change before the Steelers will beat the Patriots when it counts. Steelers were horrible in the 2nd half, amassing 60 total yards until the 2 minute warning when the 40 yard PI was called. This was with the Patriots on a makeshift OL and without Rodney Harrison, and Teddy Bruschi. -

Like I said, it helps when you actually watch the game and actually know what you are watching. Its always fun to watch a team for the first time and come on here acting like you know everything. Comes with being a teenager I guess, I used to be like that also. I love the parting shots that have absolutely nothing to do with me, nice job . -

I haven't seen too many Cowboy's games this year yet. Has Newman improved? He was toast far too many times last year for a guy with his size and speed. He should be a shut down corner in this league. -

I just realized you are probably a Bears fan, and in that case. Yes it was probably one of the best quarterbacked games you have seen in a while huh ;-) No disrespect to the many Bears fans onboard. Just having a little fun. -

I've watched every Steelers game for the past 3 years. I've seen how Ben plays against the rest of the league, and how he plays in the big games. Today he choked, he had several chances to run the ball with wide open lanes for first downs, yet he continues to hold the ball too long and force bad throws. Same things that got him in trouble late last year. Then again you didn't know that did you? -

Thats not what I meant. I mean as you watch more and more sports as the years go by, you will see its possible. Being dominant doesn't always = wins or leading the game in points. I know you find it hard to believe, but it happens. Anyways, its over and I'm glad the Steelers won't face the Pat's again in the regular season. The Patriots figured out that if you spread out the Steelers, they won't blitz, and they don't have the corners to cover well. -

You can dominate a game without actually leading the game. The Patriots D dominated the Steelers OL all game long, and if you take away the first play of the game, the Steelers racked up a whopping 176 yards. It wasn't just Ben that choked either, Antawn Randle-El had his worst game ever with dropped passes and a bad toss-back decision. Horrendous game all-around, amazing they still had a chance to win it late. -

Ben was 12-28 with 3-4 of the catches being great snags by the receivers on horribly thrown balls. The Patriots outgained Pit 425 yards to 269. The Patriots were without Rodney Harrison most of the game also. The Patriots completely dominated the 2nd half and the score was only as close as it was because Brady threw a tipped interception inside the 10 yard line of the Steelers. Thats domination. -

Ben chokes again in a big game. That's very discouraging. The Patriots absolutely dominated the Steelers every way possible today, Steelers OL looked absolutely overmatched. Yikes. -

The funny part is that UNC has South Florida scheduled starting next year for a home and home thinking it would be a cupcake game. The same thing happened 5 years ago when UNC schedule Louisville and Utah thinking they would be cupcakes last year and this, what luck huh? -

Wisconsin is going to be tough to beat by anyone in the Big Ten, or anyone in the nation for that matter. That OL with Calhoun behind it is something special. UNC ran for something like 40 yards against Wisconsin and yet today against NC State with 4 guys on the DL that will be playing in the NFL, they got over 180 rushing. Calhoun also ripped off 150+ yards on Carolina and Carolina held NC State to 20 yards rushing today, thats with 4 backs that were top 20 coming out of high school all rushing for state. Wisconsin is for real. As for Louisville, am I reading that right? Are they losing to SOUTH FLORIDA 45-14? I keep reading that score, I just can't get it through my head. What? How? -

I still believe that Roy Williams will end up at OLB sooner or later. His coverage skills just plain stink, but he has the speed and hitting ability along with good enough size to dominate at OLB. -

Gary Payton signs with the Heat
Palehosefan replied to Balta1701's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I would assume so DBAHO, as there's no PT available and thats what he needs the most to continue developing. He's been on a slower track than I would have thought coming out, but he still shows flashes of his potential, just doesn't really know what he's doing still. -
Gary Payton signs with the Heat
Palehosefan replied to Balta1701's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Its almost like its a bad thing to have alot of talent. I don't understand the Payton signing, but the Heat will have a very solid team with Wade being unselfish as usual until his scoring is needed, the Heat will also have the outside shooting with Walker and Williams in the lineup. Udonis Haslem will be great in the starting lineup because he doesn't care as much about getting his shots in, he just does all the dirty work, as would Posey, Anderson, Simien and Zo. Riley coaching the team would be a disaster, the team is built to run and has a great fallback option for the halfcourt O with the Diesel. Slowing the team down and focusing on defense like Riley's style wouldn't fit Antoine Walker, Jason Williams, or really Dwyane Wade for that matter. The Heat are two deep at every position outside of SG with only Anderson backing up Dwyane. But what REALLY excites me about this team is that IF(shudders) or when Shaq goes down again, the team still has enough talent to compete night in and night out. That really couldn't be said last year. Wade had to take over the games and if he was off, the Heat were out. -

If you are speaking of overall, you have to go with the ACC. ACC teams have made up 28% of all Final Four participants since 1990. ACC teams have won 38% of all championships since 1990. Lots of NBA players and All-Stars. 3 possible/probable HOF coaches. 2 of the top 6 programs in college history. If you are speaking of this year, then the ACC will take a backseat to atleast the Big East and maybe a few others. Here's a slight breakdown of the ACC. Duke, loaded, will dominate the conference. Wake Forest, likely will be 2nd in ACC with Gray and Williams back. FSU/Miami/BC, very solid teams, could challenge for the top 3 in ACC. UNC, will struggle at first, but should challenge for top 4 in ACC by season's end. Maryland/GT, in same boat as UNC, losing Gilchrist should hurt even though MD fans could argue otherwise. Losing Jack and Bynum isn't even arguable how much it will hurt GT. NC State, losing Hodge will really hurt the program, should be around .500 overall this year. I could see something like 16-14 overall. UVA, VT, Clemson will likely all struggle to get to .500, although Clemson and VT could suprise some people. I see Duke, WF, Miami, and either FSU, BC or UNC making the tourney this year. -
Just remember, its all Kap's fault. If something goes wrong, get your pitchforks out and head South.
