  1. Like its a suprise, but UNC will be playing the Illini in the ACC/Big Ten tournament this year, you guys have a great chance to get some revenge.
  2. Selig and company are more worried about the fans perception, rather than the owners. The owners only make the money when the fans show up, and the players only get the big contracts when the fans show up. But like Rex said, the NBA's ratings have plummeted the past 10 or so years, and I truly believe as Rex does, that its because the fans don't know who the players are for the most part. Fans also don't like the hip-hop style image, but I don't think a year of college or a year of NBDL ball will help that much. But a year of college could atleast give the player somewhat of a name nationally. Selig only started to care about an age limit when the fans voiced their displeasure in the game by the lack of Nielson ratings etc. I truly believe that if the ratings for the NBA didn't drop, there wouldn't even be an age limit being talked about. Do you really think the NBA wants to lose the marketing power of a possible future Lebron, TMac, Kobe, Jermaine Oneal, or Amare Stoudemire? I think its just a risk they know they have to take. I guess if you want to compare it to programmers, it would be if Microsoft's software began to slip compared to Adobe, Apple etc and it was possibly because of all the 17-18 year old programmers that were brilliant, but un-experienced. Microsoft could force those same kids to attend atleast a year of technical school/IT before Microsoft would hire them hoping that their software would improve in the future to regain some of their market. Its not gonna happen, but if their sales began to slip, I guarantee some extreme measure would take place. I know you are trying to take the side of freedom and the kids this could hurt. But don't feel sorry for them, most of them will either be pampered on campus for a year or more, or end up in the NBDL showing off their talents for a year doing what they love to do. Others will end up overseas still making millions of dollars. Only the Lebron's of the world will suffer from this ruling to me, and those type of players won't be hurting for long.
  3. Oden is pretty much a lock for either OSU or WF, but if those two factors above do prove to be true anyways, IU could be the darkhorse.
  4. Interestingly, Frank still has over half his career games played at 1B. It won't be that way for much longer though. 6 more games at DH and the numbers will be exactly even.
  5. Ohio State and Texas fans are cheering right now. Well that is if they realize they have basketball teams also. Kevin Durant a top 3 PF with a superb outside stroke at 6'10 and growing is only 16 years old and won't be 19 until after his sophomore year, so UT gets him for two. Also Ohio State has a great class lined up and will most likely get Greg Oden and Mike Conley to top it off. Good luck to anyone trying to defend Oden for that one year in college.
  6. Not to mention players such as OJ Mayo will already be 19 by their senior year of high school, and to make it even worse, they can turn 19 up to draft night. What this will do is turn only a few of the elite players to college, the others will already be 19 years old at the time, or will attend prep school for a year, take it easy, and enter the draft out of high school anyways. This just goes to show you who's really running the NBA, its not Stern, its Hunter, the PA, and the agents.
  7. About to be put into play... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2091116 Yipee :headshake
  8. Ok, so can anyone explain to me what Deron would have to gain by going up against a 2nd round pick that is quite possibly the fastest/quickest player in the draft? Turning down all workouts is bad, but turning down a workout against Nate Robinson, or Will Bynum if you are Deron, Paul, or Felton is a very bright move.

With ropes and alot of men working on it. Some of the rock sizes are staggering, but still plausable in my opinion. I certainly don't believe a UFO came and picked up the boulders for us. They were very clever, even back then, I'm sure they had some kind of pulley system that worked.
  11. Signing these guys could actually be a help in going after Danks. The fact that 14 of our first 15 have signed so quickly, leads me to believe that they were signed reasonably. We still have 2nd round money open at the very least, and if we signed some of these guys for less than market value so to speak, then we still could throw some money at Danks for the next few months.
  12. I'm gonna go with Gio Gonzales. Either that or someone finally caught up to Wilder in the airports.

  15. lol smartass, you know what I meant anyways. I had hope for him after we drafted him that his average stuff could stick around, but it looks like it was asking for too much. It sucks also because I know he's a good guy.
  16. Bakkar has always had average stuff. I root for him because he is a UNC grad, but its hard to root for him when he's continually blowing things for our system. I wouldn't be suprised to see him cut from our system all-together or sent back to extended spring training. He's 3-4-5 years older than these guys and still getting torched.
  17. Pittsnogle was having a HORRIBLE camp. He shot something like 3-16 and 2-10 from 3. A scout was quoted as saying "Pittsnogle hasn't made a shot since the NCAA tournament".
  18. Well BA messed that one up. You would think noting he's Eli's brother would be more important than stating he's a 2006 prospects brother. Maybe not.
  19. These draft grades are mainly off perception. The perception for us is that we drafted alot of unknowns. I can agree with the grade for now, if some of these guys that we know nothing about can impress, then I hope these same publications are giving big props to our scouts later on.
  20. I'm pretty sure its when he actually attends his first day of class. I remember some other guys in the past that had registered for classes, but they never attended classes and kept the negotiations open. It would just suck if negotiations broke down and they entered class 2 months late.
  21. I think I'm mainly shocked that they actually paid someone to design that garbage. That is easily one of the worst "professional" websites I've seen in a while. Especially the flash part, it must have taken the guy 30 mins to create all the flash movies on the sites, yikes.
  22. Congrats on having your site back up Jason. Also nice interview guys with Broadway. I didn't see another thread about it, but just wanted to compliment you guys on it. I liked his answer about my defense question, “I take pride in being able to get off the mound, because, you know, as much faith as I have in my infielders, if I could pick one person for that ball to go to, it would be me. I know I’m going to make an out. I work hard about trying to stay quick, and I know people think of pitchers not as athletes, but I’ll race anybody.” I like that whole paragraph, he sounds like he has plenty of confidence in himself and his fielders.
  23. I'm thinking he will wind up as a great 1B prospect personally, and we are dying for some prospect depth there. So if we make the right sell, I think it could work out. Oh and the money wouldn't hurt either ;-)
  24. Thats fine, we can let Chisoxygirl do that instead . I'm sure running around half naked and screaming "yipee" wouldn't be below her intellectual fortitude.
  25. I can't deny his unbelievable talent. I'm just not into his whole Rico Suave thing he has going. Not to mention he's a Yankee now.
