  1. No prob, here's some info about the ballparks etc, it might help you out, then again you have probably already looked at it. But anyways here it is. Warthogs Kannapolis
  2. I just saw a guy I think we should select in the 3rd round. Austin Jackson. Teams will be scared off about his basketball commitment to GT. But I've been hearing that Paul Hewitt has been flirting with the Knicks job. That would likely free up his commitment, or atleast soften it enough that we can throw 3rd+ round money at him and get a steal. Even the rumors of Hewitt leaving could be enough to sway a baseball commitment. Here is an article on him and CJ Henry from BA. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/2005d...0twosports.html
  3. Yep you can't really go wrong with either club. You will get to see some nice young prospects in some nice stadiums. I'm very jealous of you, I LOVE NC. I mostly watched the Knights/Durham Bulls when I'm there, but I would love to be able to see more Warthogs/Intimidators games. To put it in perspective, I once saw Pat Daneker pitch for the Knights because I wasn't careful who was going to be on the mound when I went.
  4. Depends on what you like to watch. W-S is a much bigger city and has a bigger stadium. Guys like Liotta, Gonzales, and Adam Russell and some good infield prospects in Fransisco Hernandez, Adam Ricks, Ryan McCarthy, and Jose De Los Santos would be fun to watch for Kannapolis. Basically its comparing a smaller city/stadium with possibly more prospects to a bigger city/stadium in Winston-Salem that still has some nice prospects like Schurnstein, Daniel Haigwood, Fernando Hernandez, Ryan Rodriquez, Wes Whisler, and Robert Valido(if he stays clean), and Thomas Collaro. I would rather go see Winston-Salem play partly because of the city cize, but mainly because I've always wanted to see Micah Schurnstein, Robert Valido(still), and Fernando Hernandez play/pitch. If I were you I would find out who's pitching on the day(s) you are going to the game(s) and maybe you can make a better judgement from that.
  5. I have a feeling that someone is pulling your leg. This statement seals it for me. So basically we are taking a guy that didn't pitch in high school and is very wild and will transform him into a MLB pitcher in a year, nice.
  6. Thats sucks for Pomona, thats where my g/f transferred here from. But I'm happy with UNC's bracket, we have hit like crap lately, so I'm not expecting much anyways. But I like Florida, Notre Dame, and Stetson as a draw.
  7. 5 stars is usually reserved for the top 50-75 in the entire nation. They are can't-miss players. But actually research has shown that half of the 5 star players in the last 7-8 years haven't panned out. 4 star players are great also. If you can have a class with an average ranking of 3 or higher, you will likely have a class in the top 25. USC is the most absurd school recruiting wise right now. They actually have gotten some classes that average ranking is 4.5 and higher. Schools like FSU, Miami, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, and Tennessee feast on 4 and 5 star players. Most of the time to be an elite program you have to recruit at an elite level, Iowa has been just about the only exception the past 5-10 years. Anyways, congrats to Zook, he's always been a great recruiter.
  8. Yeah it doesn't really matter to me either. If we fill all the slots up and someone wants to select 1st overall, be my guest.
  9. I'm sorry Dan but I'm not sure what you mean. Punch has the 1st pick of the draft, then again its 2 AM in the morning and maybe I'm just missing something here.
  10. May doesn't have the potential teams look for. He has a ceiling that teams can see. He will be a very solid NBA player, but never a superstar. Also Channing Frye doesn't have the athletecism or strength/size teams look for, especially for a guy who will likely be a center in the league. Channing is long and has a chance to be able to hit the NBA 3 eventually, but his relative lack of athletecism and frail frame will end up costing him the top 10 in my opinion.
  11. Thats awesome to beat UVA anytime in the tourney, congrats to JH and good luck against the Devils. I'm honestly suprised the Devils are that good in lacrosse. I guess its the Duke New Jersey connection for alot of the students huh.
  12. There's some very odd analysis on some of the picks. Like these... "the Blazers will happily settle for Deron Williams, instead.) " The Blazers would take Deron Williams happily while Telfair is their future at PG already? OOOK. "A reliable point guard could rally the talented young Jazz back into the playoffs. GM Kevin O'Connor's Carolina connections will help convince him to make this investment. " I have absolutely no idea how Kevin O'Connor is connected to UNC and I've also heard that the Jazz aren't high on Felton at all for whatever reasons. There's no way Channing Frye goes in the top 10 either, the Knicks would be the closest to drafting him that early, but even then its still not happening in my opinion. Sean May isn't going in the top 10, even to Mitch Kupchek.
  13. Feel free to give me a random team also and if more people want to join than what we have left, they can take over my random team.
  14. Is it going to be just a 1st round mock? I'll take the Brewers by the way, if I'm somehow late for my picks, anyone can feel free to remind me via pm or email.

  16. BA in their ever loving overhyping of pitching speeds, talked about Honel being a 91-93 mph fastball guy. He was always mentioned as being the poor man's Gavin Floyd. It doesn't seem like he ever lived up to that speed, even before the "injury". My philosophy in reading scouting reports from BA about pitchers is that you should take 2-3 mph off their reported top speeds. I've talked about it with Jason before, but I think they just see the guy hit a certain speed one time while scouting him and tout that he can touch "97" etc from then on. Usually they talk about a guy that sits in the 93-95mph range and he ends up hitting 90-92. I can't blame them because I'm sure they rely alot on second hand reports because of the vast amount of guys they scout. Anyways, just picked up the BA magazine for this month, some nice stuff like previously mentioned.
  17. I agree with alot of your argument hammer, but do you really mean you would take Theo Ratliff over Elton Brand? Thats almost insane to me, maybe you meant something different and I'm reading it wrong. Also, there is no way in heck Felton's best case scenario is Tony Parker right now. Maybe what Tony Parker can become, because Tony's assist totals have improved every year, but he just broke 6 assists per game for the first time this year. Felton will be around or more than that mark his rookie year alone. He's gonna shock some people at how good of a passer he truly is. Plus Tony is actually about 2 inches bigger and 20 pounds lighter than Felton and doesn't have the 45 inch vertical that Felton has. Tony is going to become a top 5 PG in the league, and I think Felton can be in the same category 2-3 years from now. 2 things will shock people at the measurements, first is Felton's height. He's about 5'10-5'11 tops, 2nd is his vertical, he will check in at 40 atleast.
  18. I'm still hoping for Brandon Snyder. He's supposedly excellent defensively at both catcher and shortstop and has nice projectablity on his bat. This is from BA. "27. Brandon Snyder, c-ss, Westfield HS, Centreville, Va. Upton and this two-way standout are centerpieces of the richest draft crop in Virginia history "
  19. Taft is apparently falling down many teams draft boards. But no way in heck does he get past the Knicks late 1st pick. Also there are rumors that Portland is fed up with their image and will clean house this offseason by trading or releasing Ruben Patterson, Zach Randolph, Damon Stoudemire and Nick Van Exel. Not sure if I believe that one though.
  20. Yeah its a funny mock. As much as I love them, Marvin, Sean, Ray, and Rashad all aren't going to go in the top 12.
  21. You think thats odd? There is also speculation that Atlanta will draft Marvin Williams anyways and then trade their 31st pick with Boris Diaw to Seattle for the 25th pick and draft Jarret Jack. So they would end up with Childress, Marvin, and Josh Smith all for the SG/SF position. I have no idea how they can possibly fathom either Marvin or Josh playing SG.
  22. Yep, speculation has been that Atlanta likes him over Felton and Paul, and they only like Marvin Williams as much as Deron of anyone in the draft.
  23. Now there's speculation from NBADraft.net that Atlanta will take Marvin with the 2nd pick. They will solve their PG needs by trading their 31st pick and Boris Diaw to Seattle for the 25th pick and select Jarret Jack. Doesn't really make sense to me as Josh Smith is entrenched at the SF position for a long time and I don't see Marvin EVER playing SG in the NBA.
  24. Some interesting things coming from Kansas now. Apparently JR Giddens is off the team, he's been unhappy all along and now apparently he got in a fight and got stabbed. CJ Giles was also in the fight...
