  1. Heat 14 fouls to the Bulls 13 fouls, clearly a fix is in. Ok the refs evened it up at 14, the fix is off.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) Worth notin how many PG's are in front of him for the eastern all star spot? He's not Derrick Rose or Westbrook athletically, but I think he's every bit the prospect that Chris Paul was coming out of college.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Or Williams out of Arizona? I'm interested to see his real size. Is he going to be Amar'e at 6'9, or Shawn Marion at 6'7 as a hybrid?
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) Is Irving that useless? Irving will be a star barring further injuries. He's the only one I would draft with the number one pick at this point. If they can end up with Irving and Kanter, they will have had a very good draft.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) He's wearing Charlotte's cap. They literally drafted him. Hence my semantics shmantics
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) J4L, Hornets had agreed to trade the pick to the Lakers, so it was the Lakers pick. http://www2.journalnow.com/sports/2008/jun...trued-ar-113126 So yes the Lakers did draft Kobe, just saying. Semantics, shmantics. Don't forget the fix being in for Chicago getting the #1 pick ahead of Miami
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 17, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) The NBA was the same way in the past. The Lakers got Magic on a coin flip with the Bulls losing. The Bulls got Jordan at the 3 because 2 teams passed. The Lakers drafted Kobe. The system will always be broken because you cant turn Memphis into Chicago. So with all things being equal (aka salary cap and max contract), players will likely choose the better destination, with the better chance of winning. That is the drawback of the salary cap. At the end of the day, with or without a salary cap, the smaller market teams are still at a disadvantage. I might be missing something, but the Lakers traded Vlade Divac to the Hornets for Kobe Bryant's draft rights.
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ May 17, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) I swear, Northwestern always plays either Georgia Tech or Virginia. You're welcome?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) I like Moore, but do we need another big man? I think you are thinking of JaJuan Johnson.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) He's an OK coach, the complete lack of a bench makes him look far worse than he really is. I understand this is only one game and obviously the Heat can still win the series, but a team with size and a deep bench gave them problems all year, I'm not sure why many people thought this series was going to be different. I don't think Kendrick Perkins is as great as a lot of pundits make him out to be, but just his size alone would have made that Celts/Heat series completely different, and the Bulls have actual big man depth. Having size helps prevent crazy 10+ runs against the Heat. This will be a fun series, the Heat will have at least one blow out win similar to this, my pick would be game 3. Spoelstra truly doesn't have much going for him. He's a horrendous offensive coach and has absolutely no gameplan outside of giving the ball to LeBron and praying he makes a play. His plan B on offense is giving the ball to Wade and praying he makes a play. This works against most teams, but not a team like the Bulls with players that actually know how to defend. The worst part is that the Heat used to be a dominate defensive squad, but even that has gone awry under Spoelstra's watch. To put it in perspective, Big Z and Erick Dampier were the Heat's best rebounders at C and they were inactive tonight. He's going to look really, really bad when his entire offensive playbook shoots a combined 12-32. The worst part as a Heat fan is that Riley's ego isn't going to allow Riley to admit he was wrong with Spoelstra, so yipee.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) I think we can safely say that Thibs>Spoolstra, because the second half adjustments were perfect. Any random vendor from the crowd is better than Spoelstra.
  12. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 10, 2011 -> 05:23 AM) Watching Sportscenter and that's the 5th time in 48 hours I've seen Michael Wilbon mentioning Dwight Howard to the Lakers, may have to start a Wilbongate watch or something. He's mooting something like Bynum and Odom / Gasol for Dwight. Frankly we'd have no interest in either Odom or Gasol I'd feel, because of their age, and for Odom's sake, we've got a very similar player (albeit one who's probably worse) in Hedo Turkolglu. For them to have ANY shot at landing Dwight, they'd have to trade Gasol plus picks plus I dunno Shannon Brown to say Golden State for Stephen Curry or Sacramento for Tyreke Evans. And then trade that guy with Bynum to get Howard. And I still see Howard going to the Nets to play in Brooklyn with Deron Williams and a high draft pick than going to the Lakers and playing with an aging roster and an aging Kobe Bryant who's past his best. I was playing with realgm looking at how Howard would end up in LA. I'm sure I'm screwing someone over, but I came up with a trade that might make sense for these teams. LA trades: Pau Gasol Andrew Bynum 1st round pick Orlando trades: Dwight Howard Hedo Turkoglu New Jersey trades: Anthony Morrow Jordan Farmar 1st round pick --------- LA receives: Dwight Howard Hedo Turkoglu Jordan Farmar Orlando receives: Andrew Bynum Anthony Morrow NJ 2012 1st round pick LA 2012 1st round pick NJ receives: Pau Gasol --------- LA would get Howard, and more athletic at PG Orlando would get a young big man, solid SG, cap relief, and 1st round picks in a loaded 2012 draft New Jersey would get a big man for Deron.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 6, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) Nope. Ctrl + F5 :-P
  14. I know you guys will be upset about this one. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writ....cbs/index.html
  15. Gary Williams retiring and Jordan Williams staying in the draft. http://msn.foxsports.com/collegebasketball...-seasons-050511 I'm amazed how far Maryland has fallen since the 2002 championship.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Hmm...my predictions 100 percent to the game. You guys really think the Thunder will have that much trouble with Memphis? I just don't see it.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) Then, the Pats draft Ryan Mallett. Pretty disgusting how well the Pats draft every year.
  18. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:01 PM) 'Boys grab a RB. Murray has a chance to be a star at the next level. He has very good size and speed, if he can just stay healthy he will be a pro-bowl back.
  19. Shouldn't be any question left as to who is the best talent evaluator in college football. Butch Davis has an unbelievable eye for talent. Too bad he doesn't really know what he's doing on gameday.
  20. Hell of a pick for St. Louis. Quinn is a freak of nature.
  21. This could be really cool or turn into a comedy. http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/article...4260311/1023/GW
  22. It's absolutely amazing that game after game Lebron gets the last shot and fails every single time.
  23. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 10:41 AM) The Sox are only in it every year because they have the most resources in the division (their payroll). It really has nothing to do with KW; it's actually the opposite. KW is the reason we have this ceiling where we are in it almost every year, but not winning it. For all the good trades KW has made, he and this organization has drafted horrendously and developed players horrifically. The Sox will never be a consistent winner with KW because the Sox don't draft and develop. Unless you can spend like the Yankees and Red Sox, you need to draft and develop well. And actually the Sawks and Yankees do draft and develop well. It's also boggles my mind that the Sox are willing to spend so much on payroll yet they consistently neglect spending on foreign free agents and the draft. I don't post much on this main board, but that post absolutely NAILED it.
  24. Nice to see Jason Richardson is a POS on and off the court.
  25. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) What the hell is Liggins thinking? At least Lamb was smart enough to stay. Ashton Gibbs staying in the draft is another stupid decision. Don't these kids have advisors? Or do they just not care what they say? I was reading that Liggins already has two kids and his family isn't well off. He apparently would go Euro if he can't make it in the draft.
