I've been a fan of his since his Bradenton, FL days where he and his teammate Jawarski Pollock were supposed to commit to UNC together. He was planning on playing some hoops also, but then Bobby talked him into a visit and he suddenly decided to stay home. He was a top 5 QB coming out of high school and a very nice SG. I've always been impressed with his athleticism and arm strength, but never his accuracy. Maybe that has changed though, otherwise I think he will have his fair share of struggles. But he's definitely a sleeper and if he can get with a great QB coach, he could be a tremendous steal.

Do the Bulls really need Eddy next year?
Palehosefan replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Woah, I'm sure thats not quite what you meant to say. But as Heat fan, I can disagree 100% with that. We were worried someone else would scoop up Brian Grant so we offered him the max, same for Eddie Jones. I realize Eddy is much younger than those two, but don't just sign someone to a max deal because you are afraid to lose them. That could get you in major trouble for years to come, the Heat were lucky to end up in a good position. There is a weakness in the NBA in centers, and I can see why Eddy would get some max offers, but do you know how he will respond once he gets the safety net of a huge contract? Its a big gamble, tough decision. -

Yeah him boxing out really suprises me, as he's been known as lazy his entire career since his high school days. It really suprises me if he actually does most of the work and allows his teammates to get the stats, if so, kudos to him for changing. -

I just want to know how in the world a 6'11 280 pound center can average only 5.4 rebounds a game in almost 30 minutes of play. You would think if he just spread his butt cheeks out and held his arms up in the air he would A) get atleast 7 rebounds a game and B) have the entire Duke bench in heat. -
I would put Kidd, Payton, Snow, and Andre Miller ahead of him right now, I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Wade has the potential to be dominant on both sides of the ball if he can get a solid 3rd scoring option on his team and not have to put forth so much energy on offense every position when Shaq is out or on the bench.
-
Yep, I can agree with that. I just want him to develop a decent outside shot, that would be scary.
-
Honestly though hammer, how many PG's do you see that can defend all those sets successfully? Kidd and Payton have been the gold standard so to speak, but you won't really find other point guards that have complete games. Wade has the ability and the stamina to join the All-Defensive teams before his days are over, he just has to work harder on that and his outside jumper, then he will be absolutely unstoppable.
-
I've gotta disagree about Wade being a liability on D. He is 10th in the NBA in overall steals and 12th in steals per game. Yes I know steals aren't the only thing that matter, but he is very quick and has long arms. He's atleast an average defender and I would argue a plus defender. We will see how well Lebron plays D when he's 23-24 when Jordan came into his own defensively. Is Lebron overhyped? Of course, he's the most hyped player in any sports history, atleast American history. Its impossible for Lebron to live up to the hype, he's supposed to be the greatest player of his generation, possibly of all time, anything short of that and he will be dissapointing to some. I don't think he will ever be the defensive force MJ was, just because Lebron has a much bigger body and can't be as quick as MJ. Nor do I think Lebron has the same attitude MJ does/did, which could limit his games potential.

Jay Williams coming back to the NBA next year?
Palehosefan replied to Jabroni's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Don't be so sure about Jay giving the Bulls a cheaper shot than others. Alonzo Mourning was paid 11 million a year for 1-2 years of sitting on the Miami bench while they stuck by him and his kidney transplant. So what did he do when he was somewhat healed and a FA? He turned down the Heats off, which was the most they could give, something around 3-4 million, so he could sign with the Nets for more money. As for Jay Will, anything to keep him out of broadcasting, yikes. -
You can research cars on sites like Car and Driver. http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?se...article_id=8914 They have a list of the 10 best of each category of cars, some are expensive, but some are reasonable.

I have a newer Mustang, and its a great car. But I'm just tired of everyone buying them. I'm gonna buy a manual RX-8 within a few years, fun as hell to drive my old manual RX-7. I also like Saturn's cars and styles, especially for the price. My g/f had one and it was a great car, even on SoCal highways and mountains.

I don't know about girls shooting, but I know I made 3/4 almost every game during my days playing AAU ball when I was younger. I actually hit 7/7 in one game, so that should tell you something. I actually saw my nemesis on the court make 17! 3's in a game, he was a ridiculous shooter, I was always the 2nd best shooter behind him because I wasn't nearly as aggressive. But I have a feeling it would have been much tougher from 22 feet every shot. I also play 21 tip with my g/f now and she never played basketball in her life, but after only a few games she could hit 5-6-7-8 free throws in a row, I was amazed.

Moving the line back a foot and a half would also open up the lane even more, to allow for more penetration and more room for the post players to work. I think its a win-win for just about everyone.

We were at the top of the rankings around 2000 from the 1999 draft I believe, and since then we declined almost to the bottom, but now we are moving back up. Great to see us getting good pub for a system that has been ever changing with trades.

I think they were just scared about caffeine. It can be dangerous in high doses, especially if they are only 13-14. http://www.channeloklahoma.com/news/3303177/detail.html Then again, I'm probably giving them too much credit.

Oh thank God, its been bothering me all day.

I think you will see Felton's TO's cut down in the pro's simply because they are better finishers than anyone outside of May at UNC. The rest of the guys don't expect the passes and end up turning it over, I can't tell you how many times David Noel has fumbled a beautiful pass out of bounds and it ends up being a Felton TO. Sometimes his passes are TOO good for the college level, thats why I think he will lead the NBA in assists atleast one year. Especially once Kidd retires :-). -
Julius actually "only" weighed 265 at UNC. He gained the extra 20 pounds once he joined the Panthers and hit the weights hard. He also had a 40+ inch vertical leap and hands the size of Elton Brand's. He didn't have much post moves, but he didn't really need them, he could smash anything home. God I loved watching him play both sports. Ronald Curry was another that would have been an amazing 2 sport star if not for a blown achilles. He was the top football player in the nation as a QB, even higher than Vick from his own state, and he also was a Mickey D's AA and won the dunk contest. But his injury and playing 2 sports really hurt his pro chances, he molded himself into a very nice receiver this year but unfortunately blew out his other achilles and is now recovering. You will NEVER see a classier athlete though, he's my favorite UNC alum of all time.

I think these guys have had solid to great NBA careers. MIL Glenn Robinson Purdue very solid 2 DAL Jason Kidd California great 3 DET Grant Hill Duke results pending... 4 MIN Donyell Marshall Connecticut very solid 5 WA1 Juwan Howard Michigan very solid 7 LAC Lamond Murray California solid 8 SAC Brian Grant Xavier (OH) solid 10 LAL Eddie Jones Temple very solid 13 DEN Jalen Rose Michigan very solid 15 IND Eric Piatkowski Nebraska decent 17 POR Aaron McKie Temple very solid 23 PHO Wesley Person Auburn solid 26 NYK Charlie Ward Florida State decent Pretty sad only 12 players made any contributions to NBA squads, and the 2nd round was even worse. Definitely not many superstars in the class, but there are some solid double digit scoring players in the class.
