2004 College Football Trash Talk Thread

lol we will see if UNC was better off after this. UNC has had back to back top 20 recruiting seasons, had a low ranked one so far this year, but the past 4 weeks have turned things around and we are back in it with top guys again. -

UNC beat Duke 40-17 to reach bowl eligability today. Picked 10th in the 11 team league of the ACC this year, UNC will end up 5th at worst, and possibly 3rd-4th. Huge win for the program and coach John Bunting who received a 2 year extension after the game that will have him in Chapel Hill until 2009 and will help with top recruits who were wary of his status earlier on. UNC will likely end up in the Continental Tire Bowl against someone like Notre Dame or West Virginia . Makes up for a crappy basketball start. -
Just broke that Oneal, Wallace, Artest, Jackson were all suspended indefinitely.
-
The PA is pissed about this, they will enforce their presence on all of this. I think they will push the issues with the fans further than most think.
-
Yep but Wallace initiated it for no reason. Artest's foul wasn't even that bad, Ben continually tried to fight Artest, while Artest just layed down on the side. Also everyone watch what the Players Association does, they could have some fans arrested tomororow, will be interesting.
-
I would say Jackson, Artest 20 games. O'Neal 15 games. Ben Wallace 15 games for intiating the whole thing.

Congrats Jason and everyone, you guys got a great site here. Glad I finally joined, just wish I did when you first created it.

Even scarier, UNC was up 20-8 and got outscored 69-46. Yikes, Rashad was the only one who would shoot. -

I believe SC shot 68%, thats ridiculous and unacceptable. It was their 4th game and our first game. Lots of excuses I can think of. But flat out, they just got their asses kicked. -

Honestly 99? Quentin Thomas started and was lost out there, Marvin was lost out there. Rashad was the only one that showed up. I guess they bought into the hype too much, now they have a long flight to Maui to think about it. We will see what it does for them. -

Without Felton, UNC was lost. Just sad. -

El Caballo you do realize that Illinois wasn't SI's #1, that was a nice photoshop done by someone. -
I can't wait to see Jason's reaction. But its ok, we are loaded with 2B prospects right? right?
-
My guess. 1 - Brandon McCarthy 2 - Ryan Sweeney 3 - Brian Anderson 4 - Josh Fields 5 - Giovani Gonzalez 6 - Tyler Lumsden 7 - Chris Young 8 - Wes Whisler 9 - Ryan Wing lol sorry still angry at the Rangers( I really picked Ray Liotta) 10 - Fransisco Hernandez

I've seen Horton play several times, a few in high school also. Horton's more of a mix at the PG position, like Dee Brown when he played some point. Bernard Robinson carried alot of the load at PG and lead the team in assists, but had a bad A/TO ratio also. Horton has never really been a great passer, but he can score from the position and defend it. Horton is never going to have a great A/TO ratio because he's basically a 2G playing PG. Even this year he has 10 assists and 9 TO's, Michigan as a team is horrible again with 27 assists to 28 to's on the year, its just sad. Michigan has so much depth, but so little discipline. -
Spurrier Going to be a "Cock"

Some UNC fans are upset. Even though John Bunting(UNC's head coach) likely is going to lead the team to 6-5 against one of the toughest schedules in the nation, lots of reports indicated that UNC was Steve's first choice. We will see just how tough of a miss it was. Also wanted to add, according to alot of people, including alot of his former players, Spurrier is already and always has been a "Cock". -
lol Jim is she also hard to use?

That sure would be my first idea why someone had their oven open.

Speaking of Arizona, should be a great matchup with Michigan. Two great point guards going at it, both teams have some nice athletes and good depth. -

Arizona will be fine, Lute is a great coach. They have plenty of talent all around now and should mesh as the season goes on. I wasn't too impressed with Frye though, seems like he hasn't improved a great deal. -
Shaun has been solid so far. Nothing spectacular, but on ESPN yesterday I think it was, they were comparing him to Scottie Pippen. They were saying half of his turnovers have been from teammates not expecting such a good pass and it hit them in the hands or the head. I think he brings a different set of skills to the table, but Shaun does have great potential on defense. Yes I know he has a long ways to go to reach Scottie level, but I think he will be a great one.

Duhon did win the 3 point contest in the Mickey D's game, and was awesome during the actual game. As a UNC fan, I was terrified of him coming to Duke. He hurt himself most of the time at Duke with ill-advised shots from 25-28 feet, when he could have just shot from 21 feet for 3. Didn't help that Vitate hyped Duhon and Jay Williams as the best college backcourt in history LOL. I knew Deng would be good, figured 14 ppg good, and that Duhon could be a good role player, what I didn't expect was Deng to average almost 20 ppg so far. Not to mention how good Shaun Livingston has been also. I have always thought Livingston would end up the best player from this draft. I do have to admit, I have always liked Duhon, he's a good guy, not cocky, he will have a nice career.

I actually picked the Falcons. I'm not too impressed with any in the NFC right now. The Eagles run offense and defense is just sad. Seattle is a good team, receivers need to get their heads out of their asses though. Rams are good when they run the ball alot, which rarely happens. I don't think any team has really seperated themselves from the rest except the Eagles, and even they have some major problems. I just voted for the Falcons because they are pretty solid everywhere, not spectacular, but solid. When Vick truly figures out the west coast system, other teams are in big trouble. That and Alge Crumpler is a Tar Heel ;-), lol.
