nice list whitesoxfan99, I agree about UNC's general ranking. But depth won't be a problem at all. UNC is loaded in the depth department. Felton, Manual, McCants, Marvin Williams, Sean May will be starting likely. Jawad Williams, Melvin Scott, David Noel, Quentin Thomas, Reyshawn Terry, Byron Sanders, Jonathan Miller, and even Damion Grant will all get decent p/t this year. The entire team is gushing about Reyshawn Terry, a sophomore that had all the talent in the world, just had problems last year as a freshman. He's a 6'9 SG/SF that has handles and can shoot and defend. Damion Grant is a 6'11 260 pound Junior that had knee problems his first two years and finally lost weight this year with his knees healthy, he's a hell of a shot blocker that should give 5-6 minutes a game of rest to Sean and Marvin and Jawad in the post. Here is the likely rotation PG. Felton with Quentin Thomas and Jonathan Miller backing him up SG. Jackie Manual with Melvin Scott and Terry backing him up SF. McCants with David Noel, Marvin Williams, and Terry backing him up PF. M. Williams with Jawad Williams and Byron Sanders backing him up C. Sean May with Damion Grant and Byron Sanders backing him up The main question is about experience in the tourney, the entire group has only won 1 game in the tourney, we will see if that matters at all. -
How convienent. Make any kind of foolish statement you want, then when people disagree, you say it was simply expressing yourself as an artist and a philosopher. NICE.

Thats alot like the NC State tailgating where the guy told the man with a gun where to find the two he murdered 2 minutes later. Both are absolute morons.

Here is a couple of other quotes about Kerry's new budget. "Even with that generous accounting, the Kerry spending promises add up to an extraordinary amount of money. Our best estimate is that Kerry's proposals will add up to between $2 trillion and $2.1 trillion over the next ten years. Since the revenue from his tax proposals relative to the current baseline is actually negative, this implies that the Kerry proposal would increase the deficit by perhaps as much as $2.5 trillion over the next ten years." (Kevin Hassett, "An Analysis of the Ten-Year Costs of Senator Kerry's Spending Proposals," AEI, 8/12/04) AEI = American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research. "Although Kerry's aides privately admit the Democratic candidate cannot fulfill all of his campaign promises and still reduce the deficit by half as promised …" (Jim VandeHei, "Kerry Gets Boost From Surprising Sources," The Washington Post, 3/23/04) Again, how can you know what to believe when his own advisors agree with me that he can't possibly fulfill his campaign promises?

Like I said, I never thought they could do it.
-
Great game with 49 seconds to go. Kelly Rhodes dropped an easy int that could have sealed it for UL, but now they have to come back in 49 seconds. I think they can do it.

You will also get to see a great program on the rise in Louisville, UNC got to see how good they were first-hand and it was ugly. They have talent everywhere, look out Miami.

Here are my problems with Kerry. There is never an issue that he can't solve in his mind. He's similar to the school class president that promises to do away with homework, add more vending machines, and give longer recess breaks. Instead of choosing his issues and going all out to solve them, he promises to solve everything. He preaches he has answers to everything from minimum wage, to education, to equal pay for minorities and women, to job stability. He wants to try to solve all of the problems that past presidents have faced at once. I don't know what to believe from him, whether its the false claim of the 56 bills passed, or the claims that border patrol and security hasn't improved at all since 9/11, or that his health care will cover ALL of the population, or that Bush never met with the CBC. It goes on and on and on. How do I or any other voter know what to believe from Kerry?

Please dear God don't let Vitale get back on the UNC bandwagon, he's likely to be killed. Vitale is held in the same regard as coach K in most UNC circles. Its time Vitale gives up the analysis part of his job, he can announce some games because he brings enthusiasm. But the days are LONG past that he brings any kind of useful information to games anymore. People used to rely on him to hear about recruiting info and things going on in basketball. Now its just BABEEE this and bald dome index that. -
I can definitely agree about the ball hog status. But I think cancer went over the line. He's a great guy and a solid teammate. He just likes to shoot the ball alot, which is a good thing if he's on a bad team, but if he's on a good team, it can lead to trouble as you are saying.

lol ROCK ON!!!! -
Its a cool channel, unfortunately its likely about to go out of business now that ESPN has a very similar channel coming in next year. coughcoughmonopoly.

Antawn will get his 20, whether he's fed the ball or has to work his ass off to get them himself. The Wizards lack depth in the paint though, Haywood gained alot of strength this offseason and will be a big help. But Ramos will be of no help to Haywood and Etan Thomas. What worries me as a Heat fan, is Shaq's matchup with a bulked up Haywood. Brendan could do a decent job on Shaq in their matchups and force Dwyane to outscore Arenas. I've been pretty impressed with the Wizards outside shooting also in their preseason games. The Heat aren't going to runaway from the Wiz at all, it will be hard-fought all season long. Also, where are you getting that Stackhouse has been a cancer? I'm interested to know, because I've heard almost the opposite.

I'll be transferring to Texas Tech next semester. I might even get a chance to choke Bobby Knight. I started at a community college also, partly because it was free for me and partly because its known to be tougher than any college in Texas outside of UT and Rice. My sisters got two C's here and then went on to Clemson and was valedictorian with 1 B her 3 years there. I thought that was hilarious. Starting out at a community college has lots of benefits if you aren't looking for the college experience right away of being completely responsible for yourself and partying. I never have been really into that. Plus people would be paying something like 1,200 a semester here for 5 classes instead of 6,000 a semester for the same at Tech. Plus I'm already set to go into the computer world with my associates in www software development, but I wanted a bachelors in computer science to back it up.

The best thing of all? Duke is going to actually have a down year. Here's to hoping its a downward spiral that ends up with coach K knawing cheese in a padded room. I can't wait till basketball starts either, but I'm nuts about college football also, so I'm still doing ok. -
Toughest College Basketball Arenas...
Palehosefan replied to Heads22's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Yeah you won't find a more dangerous place than a MD-Duke game, I think it was Carlos Boozer's mom that got hit in the head with a bottle during a game. Good shot whoever it was lol, j/k thats a little over the line. If it was Boozer, that would be a totally different scenario. -

Maryland is a tough place to play. You have to constantly watch out for batteries, bottles, and anything else they can find to throw. -
I can't see Dwyane getting 15+ shots, he has said numerous times he will be happy to feed Shaq all the time which will benefit Eddie also. Odom was anything but an enigma last year, he was consistent all year long. He was the main reason they made the playoffs, even over Wade. Shaq will get lots of touches, yes, but he is a very good passing big man as you know. Eddie and Rasual Butler will be the benificieries of that. They are two 3 point shooters that the Lakers needed in their lineups. I'm basing all my 15 points + on Eddie's open 3 point shots that will be created from Shaq. I can see yall's argument about Eddie's decling athleticism. We will see what happens this year. Good argument though, I'm finished with it finally. Back to predictions :-).
-
Again, no reason Eddie can't average 15+ this year. You don't need designed plays for you when Shaq is down low, you will have an open man when Shaq is doubled. Eddie was the 3rd option last year with more options at SF in Caron Butler and Lamar Odom getting shots. Of course Eddie isn't the same player he used to be, he used to be one of the top SG's and as good as it got shooting 3's and defending people. With age he has slowed down, but he's still good enough to put up last years numbers, we will see what he does this year. I think it will be 15-17 a game, you guys think around 12. We will see. Also again, Eddie NEVER EVER has been a big factor in the playoffs, last year was no different, but by then Dorell Wright will be improved and Rasual Butler will be contributing alot with his very nice 3 point stroke. Don't forget the Mav's got Stackhouse in the trade also, from reports this offseason, he has rehabbed completely and looks very good.

Debate or playoff baseball
Palehosefan replied to southsider2k5's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
lol mreye watch out for the men and women trying to hand you out those "eye-appealing" brochures. I wanted to punch them by the time the trip was over. As for the debates or playoff baseball, I'm not interested in either one unfortunately. I've seen and heard all I need to know from both candidates, I don't care about baseball if the Sox are out. Just as long as the Yankees don't win I'm fine. -
I'll break it down even further.... Eddie Jones was 44th in the NBA in 3 point %. Of those 40 ahead and 3 that are tied with him, 12 didn't even shoot 200 3's, and only 4 shot over 400 like Jones. Jones was also third in the NBA in made 3's behind Peja and Tracy McGrady.
-
WsoxShuf I noticed your new KU avatar. You might want to write "Thanks Roy!" on there somewhere for those players ;-).
-
Nice one whitesoxfan99. As for this... First of all Eddie Jones NEVER shows up in the playoffs, never has, who knows if he ever will, but that argument holds no water showing his "aging". He has a career average of 13.8 points in the playoffs, he will have to improve those if the Heat are gonna make the run I think they will. Second of all I watched alot of Heat games, also, Jones shot 37% from the 3 point line last year, compared with other 2 guards... Jones = 37% from 3, 41% overall, 479 3's taken VC = 38% from 3, 41.7% overall, 243 3's taken Ray Allen = 39% from 3, 44% overall, 378 3's taken Kobe = 33% from 3, 43.8% overall, 217 3's taken McGrady = 34% from 3, 41.7% overall, 513 3's taken Mobley = 39% from 3, 42.6% overall, 420 3's taken Jones took more 3's than anyone outside of McGrady, and made 3% more than Tracy, if you take more shots, you are going to shoot lower for anyone outside of Peja. I'm well aware Jones D isn't what it used to be, but its average at worst. He also will have a chance to be much more aggressive with Shaq back to take care of mistakes. The past few years the Heat didn't have any kind of shot blocking presence inside, so the perimeter defenders knew they couldn't take chances and make mistakes. You were inferring that you watched the Heat play last year alot, well if actually did you would have noticed Jones was already the 3rd option behind Wade and Odom. Losing Lamar, Caron, and Brian lost 35 points a game. Shaq will make up 25 of those points, but others will have to step up to account for the lost points, others like Wade and Jones who will be the 2nd and 3rd option respectively. Re-read my post above, Shaq has played in atleast 67 games the last 5 years, most filled with nagging injuries, again, Shaq also lost 30 pounds this offseason which will help the leg injuries. The stats I used were the same exact numbers from last year without any improvement at all. If thats not commen sense, I don't know what is
