Rangers vs. Oakland fans
Palehosefan replied to IlliniKrush's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I would guess they might follow the NHL's recent events of the stick attacks. Which would lead to a banning of atleast this season in my opinion. -
Andy Katz top 50 teams in college basketball.
Palehosefan replied to qwerty's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Gotta disagree about the freshmen comment. In this day and age of college basketball, almost everyone has to rely on freshmen to contribute a pretty good amount. If you don't have to, then you are likely a very good team, or just didn't recruit worth a crap. Being a top 50 team isn't saying a whole lot, it doesn't even guarantee they will make the tourney. Looking at Indiana's roster and statistics of last year. They will have some problems inside, thats a given. But DJ White will solidify the PF spot, maybe even play some C, and if Sean Kline can step up his game they can atleast get by down low. You know they will be very solid in the backcourt, and Patrick Ewing Jr/Robert Vaden/James Hardy can play the SF spot and the other 2 can come in for instant offense. DJ White might be playing 35-40 minutes a game though :-) out of neccessity. I can see the argument both ways, but I believe they can be a top 50 team just because of Marshall Strickland, Bracey Wright, and DJ White. If the rest of the team can just contribute a little offense and mainly defense. You know Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan State will all be in the tourney. MIchigan will also likely make a strong push for the tournament. Purdue, Iowa, Northwestern, Ohio State, and Illinois will battle for the 5th spot. I like Indiana's chances to claim the 5th spot and possibly sneak into the tourney, otherwise they would still fall right in the end of the top 50 teams. -
What Teams Would be Interested in Konerko?
Palehosefan replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Alfonso is hitting .291 with 11 homers and 73 rbi's with 44 walks to 33 k's. He's also got a .965 fielding percentage at 3B which is as good as Crede's I believe. I'm sure will get some nice offers, but I thought that was pretty interesting for both teams. -

I had a Giants fan offer Edgardo Alfonso, Matt Cain, and 2 mill for Konerko. I thought that was a pretty interesting trade for both teams. We would get a guy that could play 3B, a nice prospect in Cain and money to help sign others. Alfonso I believe is making around 3 mill less than Konerko, could be wrong. -

What happened to Rothbart? Did the wind blow him overseas? 7'0 210, yikes. -
Cheat I find it even more irritating how much they fawn over Jose and constantly mention his funk that he's in. Then praise him to no end when and if he finally gets another hit.
-
As bad as Crede has been, he wasn't at fault there. You are taught to go on first contact, especially when you see a guy bunting the ball. It was just a crappy play from Timo that killed the inning.
-
Well that was nice.
-
Joe missed a line drive, that hit in his glove and got past him. Would have been a double play likely.
-
Yikes Cheat, but man do I like Mark and Freddy. Its like Mark, Freddy and the chaos rotation. Its a new show apparently.
-
I can't defend Crede anymore. He isn't solid defensively anymore. Apparently his crappy offense has gotten so much into his head that his defense will now suffer.
-
Angels offense is just awesome. They bunt, steal bases, and they also hit the long ball in the middle of the lineup. Thats what I hope to see next year from our guys.
-
That is an ugly lineup having Valentin, Timo, Borchard, and Gload all in at the same time. Doesn't give us much of a chance unless Colon does blow up.
-
Wow just realized Timo was in CF. If Carlos is in LF today, then we have the OF with the least range in baseball out there.
-
Wonderful start. 3-0.

Athlon Sports Magazine picks for CBB

Athlon does a great job usually. This time is no different. I just can't see NC State advancing further than Texas, Maryland, and Wisconsin. -
Andy Katz top 50 teams in college basketball.

Yeah some question his size though. He's listed officially this year at 6'9 266. But alot of people think he's only 6'7, which could hurt him tremendously in the draft. Then again, those same people were saying Okafor was 6'8 tops. We also have a big Jamaican guy named Damian Grant, he's 6'11 270 and has battled knee problems his entire career at UNC. He's a junior this year and his knees are finally better, he should give May some rest, he's amazingly athletic for a big guy and is a shotblocking machine. All they need out of him is 5-6 minutes a game. -

Oh God I hope so. Our football team has left me depressed, were getting beat 49-10 in the 3rd quarter when I left to go eat. Virginia scored on every single drive and ended up winning 56-24. Now Bunting(UNC's coach) is REALLY on the hotseat, and lots of people are interested in Spurrier, because he showed interest also. UNC will have a chance this year, we have lots of depth and athletes everywhere, just have to find out if Sean May is gonna get the help down low that he needs. The scary part? UNC will lose Jackie Manual, Melvin Scott, Jawad Williams, and could possibly/probably lose Raymond Felton, and Rashad McCants after this year. Thankfully the 5/9 recruiting rule went out the window. -

Indiana is gonna be a very solid team this year. No reason for them not to be in the top 50. Just having Marshall Strickland as your point, Bracey Wright as your 2, and DJ White as your 4, makes them a tough team to beat. I don't know a ton about IU, but if Vaden or Hardy gets the start at SF and Rothbart gets the nod at center, they will be talented all around. Young, but talented. Katz is a moron that loves any program that will let him have alot of access to it, like Duke, no reason for Xavier to be ranked in the top 50 and IU not. -
If Young works on his arm and his eye at the plate, he could be our best prospect next year in my opinion. I'm shocked at how much power he developed over the offseason. He was pretty much a slap hitter after being drafted, but everyone was still high on him, saying he could be the steal of our draft. Hopefully Sweeney can develop that power this offseason . As for being concerned about Young's K's. I'm not as concerned about him because of the high amount of walks he takes also. With Fields, he really caught on and turned it on big time the last month and a half or so of the season. I'm gonna be interested to see if his K numbers decrease significantly next year or if he's on a similar track as Borchard because of football.

I MUST be missing something. Is there more of what Buck said about Ozzie than the quotes in the southtown?
-
Buck makes the comment about Ozzie not knowing the rules about it because he walked out onto the field and questioned it. Then Buck says Kenny should have told Ozzie the rules. So Ozzie goes on to say he's better then Buck because he played baseball, didn't have to start out coaching in the minors, is better looking, and makes more money. I guess I can't see how Ozzie comes out the good guy...
-
YAY way to go Ozzie. Make a complete ass of yourself to show up the dumb comments from another manager. That will show em!!!!!
-
He didn't really say that did he? If he did, I lost any respect I have ever had for Ozzie. That was not only obnoxious, rude, and out of line. But if the team was half as good as Ozzie thinks Ozzie is, we would be WS champs every year.

Florida State @ Miami Game Thread

Chris Rix and Miami beat FSU. Atleast next year FSU will have a much better chance, since Rix will be gone.
