As classy of a guy and as good of a career as Edgar has had, there is no chance he will enter the HOF. Without even mentioning that he's been a full time DH for most of his career. If you look just at his numbers, they aren't even close to being good enough. .313 lifetime average is very nice, but 2231 hits with 306 homers just isn't enough. If you are gonna be a full-time DH for alot of your career, you are gonna need atleast 450 hr's and 2500+ hits to get it. That might not even be enough. Again he has no shame in his career whatsoever, he had a great one and can tell his kids and grandchildren that he was a great hitter.

That would be a big holdup on Gio. Are they questioning his durability or his growth potential? Or both?
-
Yeah but Rex I don't know that those people know how Gio is going to develop at only 18 this year. With 3 good pitches at 18 years old, I think he could have a bright future. But then again those sources could and probably will be right. I would take a 2-3 type starter from him anyday.

There are very few true aces in the big leagues. Not every team in baseball has one, I would bet even half the teams in baseball don't have one. There are even fewer aces in the minor leagues, usually they develop into an ace from a very solid pitching prospect once they play a few years in the big leagues. We have a few guys that have that potential, but then again its just potential. McCarthy could become an ace if he does add 2-3 mph to his fastball to go along with his pinpoint control, but thats a huge question as to whether that speed will be added. Gio Gonzales has the potential if he keeps developing at an above average rate. I don't really see anyone else with ace potential unless they make great strides over the offseason.

Alot of people were thinking Honel would become what Gavin Floyd of the Phillies is. They expected Honel to fill out and get his fastball to 93-95 consistenly. They expected a poor mans Gavin Floyd, what we have so far is a welfare-laden card board box living Gavin Floyd. With that said, here's to hoping his old delivery will bring back the pitcher we thought we were going to have.

How did Ryan Palmer end up. He was leading after one and in 5th after two I believe. He went to my rival high school, so I'm interested.

IU 2004-2005 Schedule

Yeah I had GT/UConn and OSU, I just had UNC in there because I always have to pick them. I don't do well for their bracket, but I do well otherwise. I'm a college sports nut. I love MLB, NFL, and NBA alot. But nothing to me beats college sports games. -

More good comments, and I have some about those players also. Vince Hall, Charlie Whitehurst, George Bell, and Tyrone Moss all had UNC as their 2nd choice. That was tough to lose out on all of them. Whitehurst was actually a UNC commitment for a while. George is going to have to show that he has full speed back after a terrible injury his senior year(torn ACL I believe). I also think Bobby Washington got denied admissions at Miami and is now enrolled at NC State. The same week Barron Edwards transferred from LSU to UNC. They both likely have a bright future. WF is no fun to play, they cram the ball down your throat and Chris Barclay is perfect for that role. He runs the option very well and usually will end up with around 200 yards rushing on the day. -
I'm not sure why the Bills released him. Unless he was injured. He can still rush the passer very well as an OLB, he plays OLB in the 3-4 and likes to come up to the line as a OLB/DE type to rush the passer. He's not great in coverage anymore, but he could be a pass rushing specialist for a team if he's healthy.
-
I saw on the bottom line a couple of interesting things. First off Buffalo released Jason Gildon, the Steelers were really sad to see him go and it will be interesting to see if they go after him for cheap. Also Fred Russell was released unfortunately, but he will catch on somewhere. I also noticed Shane Burton and Jesse Armstead are gonna be out for the year for Carolina.

lol DBAHO sadly they still would. Even knowing the future of both players, they would boo. Philly fans are so bad, they will boo Jesus when he comes back.

LSU is gonna be fine. They have extremely talented players, although they are extremely young. If a team is going to get LSU, it will have to be early on in the season while the young guys are making the mistakes. When Russell, Doucet, Carter, and Justin Vincent get more playing time under their belt, they are gonna be deadly to face. -
I love the fact that the dumbass actually told the guy where the victims were. He should have some charges against him, just for being a dumbass. I guess it would have been horrible to just say "I don't know".
-
I think alot of players in our organization should take notice of that. We have far too many power arms losing velocity.

Didn't Anthony Morelli end up at PSU? I think he was committed to Pittsburgh for a while and then changed at the last second for PSU. He's gonna be a stud for JoePa if he's still around. Some scouts and analysts are saying that Ted Ginn is the best cornerback prospect since Deion Sanders. Thats a pretty nice statement. I also didn't mention Jason Brown, UNC's center. He's a senior and is the strongest player in UNC history. He squats 709 pounds, power cleans 413 pounds, and benches 470 pounds. He's 6'3 310 pounds and should be a better center then UNC's Jeff Saturday of the Colts. BTW, thanks for the comments on the Big Ten, I learned alot. -
I liked the movement on his fastball. Also the reason he gave up the hits is because they mispelled his name on his jersey and he was mad and confused the whole time ;-).

another young pitcher left with alot of confidence...

I just wanted to tell the board about some players they should know for the future of college, and that you will be hearing alot of on Sundays in the future. I'm gonna do it on the ACC, and anyone can add one's for Big Ten, or add more to the ACC, I don't care. Virginia's LB's, the best in the nation as a group. Kai Parham, Ahmad Brooks, Daryl Blackstock, and Jermaine Dias. All will be playing on Sundays and Ahmad Brooks will be a superstar on the next level. 6'4 250 pounds and returns kicks for UVA with a 4.5 40 . Hits like a ton of bricks to boot. FSU's LB's and RB's, Rich get richer. Lorenzo Booker to start, he's a cat-quick runningback that has plenty of speed, was the top recruit in the country 2 years ago. Almost impossible to tackle 1 on 1. Leon Washington, 5'9 200 pound burner that will be playing on Sundays. Not to mention Jamal Edwards, a freshmen RB with good size and very good speed. Then there's Antonio Cromartie, 6'3 corner with insane numbers coming out of JC I believe, something like 6'3 210 pounds running a 4.29 40. Ernie Sims is a 235 pound linebacker running a 4.45 40, not to mention he was the top recruit in the nation a year ago. Pat Watkins is a superb safety prospect with 6'4 size and 4.5 speed. NCSU, DE Mario Williams is likely the next Julius Peppers, 6'7 260 pound DE with 4.5 speed. Demarrio Pressley was the top DT prospect in the nation last year and clogs the holes as good as any at 6'4 300 pounds. UNC, DT/DE Khalief Mitchell, 6'7 300 pounds and runs a 4.65 40. Here's the amazing part, he also runs a 4.2 shuttle time. Thats a similar time to most cornerbacks and safeties. Also RB Ronnie McGill ran for nearly 700 yards as a freshman last year in limited playing time including 240 yards against WF. 5-11 220 pounds and runs a 4.5 with bruising power. Ran for 133 yards a 3 TD's today. Don't know enough about Miami or VT at the moment to comment on them.

That would be an awesome win for NIU, Maryland is a very good team with possibly the top coach in college football right now.

I don't know who's the QB for LSU right now, but JaMarcus Russell is their future. He's probably as close to Culpepper as you will find in college. He will have an amazing receiver to throw to for years in Xavier Carter. Carter is likely the fastest player in college and is 6'3 to boot. Also for Oregon State, they are gonna be good and will give USC a scare at OSU I believe later on this year. They are a program that can pretty much get anyone in through admissions. Not quite as bad as K-State though, but close. -
ss2k4 I believe Ichiro just signed a 3 year extension in Seattle. Also on Corey Koskie, his fielding numbers this year are terrible. His average isn't too hot either, I would rather give Crede another chance than Koskie.
-
The Royals had two on with nobody out and Johan made the Royals next 3 hitters look very Soxish. K'ed all of em I believe. 11K's in 7 IP I believe. He's amazing.

I thought those people were nuts too , he didn't have any hitting weaknesses in any scouting report. He also has a great arm if I'm remembering right. They also said he let the ball get farther back when hitting than anyone in the draft and I loved that.
