Galarraga perfect game broken up by umpire
Palehosefan replied to fathom's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) I absolutely love every post you make Ha, thanks. I just wish I had as much class as Galarraga when I'm upset. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) M-Cab and Leyland gave the umpire enough s***. Armando didn't have too. I'm talking about in his interview after the game. He didn't even say a bad thing about the ump, just complimented his teammates and talked about how great of an experience it was. It was amazing to listen to. -

Galaragga is WAY more classy than I would have been. He's a class act. -

MLB should choose to either give Galaragga the perfect game he pitched, or fire the umpire. -
GT: Rangers @ White Sox 6/1, 7:10PM, CSN

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) We sure have a ton of money tied up in two very underachieving starting pitchers. It's getting pretty obvious Buehrle needs to go to the NL to extend his career. I'm just not sure I believe that Kenny will blow this team up, whether that means unloading a guy like Mark or even Konerko. I'll believe it when I see it. Sadly. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Yeah Palehose, Mark should be pulled before even pitching six innings. Not quite. Already over 100 pitches, getting hit hard, bases loaded, Santos in the pen and ready. But we keep him in because he hasn't reached 6 IP? Ozzie is that you? -

Pretty pointless having Santos when you have such a clueless manager. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) Not when he shouldn't have had to go to college in the first place. Ha, I love it when people say that. Like he didn't have a choice to play overseas for a year or in the NBDL. Instead his pimp got paid, he got fake grades, and tons of exposure at a major program. Pretty typical of a Calipari top recruit.

NCAA already investigating Calipari. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/29/sports/n.../29recruit.html -
I was shocked by Ed Davis' numbers. 6'9 without shoes, 31 inch standing vert, 36 inch vertical, 12 foot jump reach height, 3.21 3/4 sprint. If he ever decides to not be lazy, he's got a lot of potential. I thought for sure he would disappoint in the athletic measurements, and boy was I wrong. PS, I still can't figure out why Craig Brackins isn't getting lotto looks. He's got the size, scoring ability, and athletic ability to be a very good 4 in the NBA.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) Shocker!! http://www.theindychannel.com/news/23686810/detail.html Can't even be surprised anymore. NBA takes these kids almost straight out of the ghetto and shoves millions of dollars in their pockets. It's not surprising you end up with Eddy Curry or Zach Randolph.

Knox decided on UNC. Very good news for UNC. He's not anything special, but providing 7 and 5 a game would be great for UNC this year. If UNC isn't a sweet 16 team this year I will be disappointed. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 22, 2010 -> 11:53 PM) I don't know about the MJ/Kobe work ethic (not disputing what you're saying. I really have no clue). But he will indeed be a treat to watch. Yep, here's a quote from Dave Telep about his work ethic. “I think Harrison’s mental game is as sharp as his physical game,” Telep said. “And I think Harrison leaves no option for himself not to be successful. He’s a maniacal worker. … There are a lot of kids who are full of hot air when they tell you how hard they work, and then there’s Harrison Barnes.” Anyways, I think the early favorites for #1 pick next year involve Barnes, Irving, Kanter, Knight, and depending how hard he works John Henson. Alec Burks at Colorado will be thrust to the forefront of national media. He's a fantastic talent and should have a James Anderson type season.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 22, 2010 -> 10:01 PM) Van Gundy just said something that made sense. Vince Carter with Kobe's work ethic, drive and competitive fire would have about 4 MVPs right now. It's a shame that he never came close to maxing out that limitless potential he had in the early 2000's. He just never cared about basketball as much as some others. Vince put other stuff in his life before basketball like family, education etc, which made him a very good person, but a guy that never would reach his potential as a player. However, Orlando has much bigger programs than just Vince. Rashard Lewis disappeared, Jameer Nelson had no chance against Rondo, Dwight Howard still has no post moves. Changing one or two players isn't going to make Orlando tough, or a defensive minded team. UNC has a freshmen coming in next year in Harrison Barnes that has the Vince Carter type talent, but the MJ/Kobe work ethic. He's going to be a treat to watch.

You can't go wrong with Anderson or Henry. I personally like Anderson more because I have seen what he can do against good guards like you saw at Kansas, Baylor, Kansas State etc. He put up around 30 a game against those guys. I like James Anderson more than I liked James Harden last year coming out. Harden was a glue guy for a team, but Anderson can be a go to scorer, even in the NBA. I see the same potential in Henry. The #2 pick and Brand could be interesting for the Heat, but mainly if they could then package another pick or two and move up for Wall. Wall Wade Raja Bell Brand Bosh That might win a few games. Then again, Brand getting 17M a year for 3 more years is staggering...

Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 20, 2010 -> 06:49 AM) Terence Jones, who announced he was going to Washington at a presser weeks ago, has officially signed with Kentucky. Gotta love Calipari and his 2.0 team GPA. Seconds after Terrance Jones' press conference to attend Washington, Calipari calls him and lays a guilt trip on him. Jones reconsiders(probably gets envelope from worldwide wes) and commits to Kentucky a few weeks later. Only a piece of s*** like Calipari would do that to a kid after his press conference to attend another school. He did the same thing before with Kanter stealing him from UW. I'm rooting for a heart attack or car accident for Calipari. Can't say I've ever actually truly hated anyone in sports, until Calipari came along. -
A'mare doesn't even give a crap about defense.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 19, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) I don't know why I fall for the Suns bulls*** every year. Weren't they supposed to be "improved" defensively? I take the same approach with Phoenix as I do with Dallas. "I'll believe it when I see it."

Nice to see Viciedo without an error in his 6 or 7 games at 3B this year. Knock on wood :-).

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) Beasley's a FA though, right? And the Wiz are under the cap enough to make him an offer. Beasley is still under contract for two more years.

I know Heat fans are hoping to see Riley offer a package of something like... #18 pick(Heat pick for Washington) Beasley Toronto's future 1st Heat's 1st next year Beasley is a hometown guy for Washington, so I could see it at least being tempting.
