  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 10:56 PM) Someone explain to me the logic of pulling Jones for Kotsay when there's no one on and you're down 1 run. Don't try to understand the clown in the dugout.
  2. Here's some of what is sickening about coach K. http://www.travelgolf.com/blogs/chris.bald...i_sports_ultima and another, http://www.culturemap.com/newsdetail/03-26...e-hate-coach-k/
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 07:20 PM) Definitely, good for him, glad to see he realizes what a great position he is in too. Unless a top notch job like UNC, KU, UK, etc. opens up, I don't think he should leave. As he has shown, he can do just as much at Butler as he can at a lot of other BCS programs. He seems like a great choice for UNC's job in 7-8 years.
  4. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Here is a great news for IPhone and IPad owners. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Apple-iPhone...317043.html?x=0 Wanted to bring this back up from the page before for BigSqwert.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) But the Zune is crap compared to an iPod. That isn't disputed. What I am saying is that everytime a decent new product is made by someone else, it is hailed as the next "iP_____ killer." If Google had manufactured this product, I just think there would be far more praise (yes, people would point out it's shortcomings), but far less vitriol would be spewed. Let's face it, any time a company is wildly successful such as Apple has been over the course of the past 10 years, there is a portion of society that puts forward a disproportionate quantity and degree of undeserved criticism. I think with each new product Apple unveils, that seems to become more and more apparent. The amount of criticism is a good sign for Apple, it shows that people actually care about the products. Microsoft still receives the most hate, and Apple is closing the gap because of it's growing usage. There's just not enough hardware out from companies like Google or HTC to engage enough people to provide criticism. However, both Google and HTC are providing some great options and in time will end up with "haters".
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) I'd flat out tell you that a Zune is crap compared to an IPOD. Zune is crap compared to an actual piece of crap.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) So you're going to claim that if this product was made by IBM or Google the reviews by PC owners would be just as critical? Here is a great news for IPhone and IPad owners. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Apple-iPhone...317043.html?x=0
  8. Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and Raisin Bran for me. One tastes great and the other makes me an optimal pooper.
  9. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Also, since we're already in a tech-geek thread... Anyone want to take a stab at why I can't reply to the forums here in Firefox, but can in IE? In Firefox I can type in the forms and stuff, but I can't move the cursor anywhere. It doesn't show up. I only have this problem on SoxTalk, as well. Seems to be a few like you out there with IP Boards cursor issues in Firefox, http://www.powerslide.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12222 The last post talks about running Firefox in safe mode to see if it's an add-on that might be causing your issue.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Big surprise, Evan Turner going pro, Xavier Henry as well Five Wildcats declare for draft: Wall, Bledsoe, Cousins, Orton, Patterson From the Louisville Courier-Journal Kentucky's Daniel Orton to test NBA Draft. “We had some teams say there was interest,” Larry Orton said. “They’re saying he could go anywhere from 1-20. ”
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) At least in my opinion...this had very little to do with quality, but had much more to do with Microsoft's exclusivity agreements with companies that paid for their marketing, and their monopolistic actions on a number of levels to make sure they didn't lose control of the market. There's no doubt that Microsoft pilfered most of their ideas and products from others. But MS-DOS and Windows changed the computing landscape. Then Microsoft went into cruise control and starting putting out disasters like Microsoft ME.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Yup. Just like all those iPhone killing phones. And how the Zune killed the iPod. Just looking at the features, the Slate and Courier WOULD blow the IPad out of the water. I'm hardly against Apple, the Art Directors I know are in love with their Mac's, but most of the programmers like myself still prefer a PC. I do find it funny that a certain faction of people now assume that Apple is the standard for innovation for the foreseeable future. It wasn't long ago that Microsoft rocked Apples world in the personal computer market and forced Apple to go back to the drawing board. Both Apple and Microsoft have had their periods of resting on their laurels and were passed in the public's eye by each other. Apple is still the standard for visually appealing devices, but I'll take my Motorola Droids functionality over the IPhone any day. But I can understand why my brother and sister love their IPhones, it's a revolutionary, beautiful system. The sheer amount of apps on the IPhone won't be touched for a while(if ever). However, the IPad, similar to the IPhone, has some functionality set-backs that seem to be addressed in the HP Slate, while the Courier seems to offer even more innovation than the IPad. It's going to be really, really hard for Microsoft or HP to address the "hip", college crowd, notion of an Apple device being the "cool" choice.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) I picked one of these up to test our product on at work, so I got to play around with it a bit today. What a completely pointless piece of technology. Yep, the HP Slate will be a IPad killer and the Microsoft Courier will blow it out of the water whenever it arrives.
  14. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:18 PM) One thing that I think is interesting is how many teams seem to have a legitimate chance at the top-10. In looking over the various rosters, I came up with about 20 teams I considered, and that didn't really count some potentially awesome mid-majors like Dayton and Xavier. Looking back to last year, once you got to 11 you had teams with some pretty serious question marks like Cal, Washington, UConn, Michigan and Oklahoma, not to mention UNC and Texas in the top-5. Granted there doesn't appear to be a Kansas-level team this year and a couple of teams like UNC, Kansas and Kentucky seem to fit that "could blow up horribly" mold from last year, it seems like there's more decent-to-solid teams for next year. Of course a few of them will probably get killed by the NBA, but it looks like an interesting season. Yep, I said in the national championship thread that about 20-25 teams have a legit chance this next year at a title. Overall the talent level between the elite and other schools should be decreased again, especially with Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, etc being worse than this past season. The only team I could see being head and shoulders above others would be Duke if they keep Singler Two teams from the MWC could make a push towards the top 10, BYU went 30-6 last year and return just about everyone and UNLV went 25-9 and returns everyone. One of those two will likely replace New Mexico in the top 10-15 standings this year.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Wow. Interesting top 10 here. Florida doesn't deserve the love, especially over better potential teams like Illinois (who should be in the 10-15 range). Ditto for UNC, who may have all the talent in the world, but talent means nothing if they don't mesh (see: UNC, 2009-2010). Kansas and Kentucky will be lucky to be in the top 25, let alone the top 10. Too much talent leaving. Villanova should be somewhere between 5-8. Agree Memphis should be pretty good if their freshman can make the transition. Not sold on OSU being so high, they have no PG. Sullinger might be the next OSU one and done, but if he can't get the ball he's not going to be very dominant. UNC's main problem this year was having absolutely zero shooting and no PG depth. Larry Drew made stupid plays all over the court, but Roy had no alternative to put in the game to punish him. Kendall Marshall was the best passer in the incoming class and will be a steady option at PG if need be. Bullock and Barnes can both shoot the lights out. UNC should be back in the 25-30 wins category, but not back to elite yet. Kansas will have most of their talent returning with 5 star guys on the bench waiting to step in. If Selby or Doron Lamb pick KU and Henry stays, I could see them at #5 to start the year. Nova is losing Reynolds and Redding and isn't bringing in much to replace them. They will still get eaten alive inside. Pittsburgh should be the class of the Big East next year. Aaron Craft will be a good option at PG for Ohio State, he focuses most of his energy on defense and passing the ball, and with the talent around him any retard could step in and average 5 assists a game just throwing the ball down low each possession.
  16. Early contenders for top 10 next year? Ohio State Duke Butler Michigan State Purdue Pittsburgh Memphis UNC (If Ed Davis returns) Kansas BYU Kentucky could be at the bottom of the top 10 depending on how much cap space opens up.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) BTW, great discussion in here tonight about the game. Thanks everyone, and stay strong palehosefan. Off to watch Gossip Girl. Ha, rough night for me. I'm starting to get over it though. For some reason I started to buy into Duke being on the way down after the way UNC had been handing them their lunch and early exits from the tourney. Silly me.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Any chance people put Butler as their preseason #1 if Hayward returns? Duke could also be fantastic if Singler/Smith return. Butler has a great system in place and a ton returning, I wouldn't hesitate to put them at #1 if Singler leaves. Still, losing Zoubek, Thomas, and Scheyer is going to be a lot to overcome. I don't even want to think about Kyrie Irving running the show at Duke next year.
  19. I guess the good part is that there's about 25 teams next year that could win it all. College basketball might even be worse next year with a lower freshman class coming in and several leaving early this year in all likelihood.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) They did have 4 players playing superior basketball in the tournament though. No doubt, they played their best basketball in the tournament and never had a cold shooting game.
  21. I can't believe THIS Duke team won the title. What a s***ty year for college basketball.
  22. Hayward thinks he's Michael Jordan. Ridiculous.
  23. Gee I wonder if they are setting this up for Singler? Better not be damn Veasley guarding him.
