  1. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) As long as this attitude permeates the fan base, we will never win another world series. You can only hear "you suck" so many times before you buy into it and thats all this team heard all season long. With the attitude of our fan base, I'm amazed this team is over .500 as is.....they overperformed when you face the facts. However, if they were supported day in and day out, they would likely be 20-25 games over .500 at this time (and about ready to clinch a playoff spot) That is a priceless post right there.
  2. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Colon as the Sta-puft Marshmallow man ? Definitely. Valiant effort here in the 9th.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) Sure look what negativity did in Ghostbusters II. Vigo almost took over the earth. Maybe we can get some positive slime. That or you will get Bartolo Colon trying to destroy the city.
  4. QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) Alexei isn't good in the field. Can't blame Alexei for that one, that was a horrendous throw from Carlos straight into the ground.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) You know what drives me crazy? How much different is this team from the one we had on June 1? Rios, Beckham, hopefully Peavy soon, Floyd out of his slump, Podsednik's magical youth potions, the Pena deal, TCQ back and hitting with some power. On June 1, we were 25-25 and 3.5 games back. We've added all those guys, gotten rid of chaff like Colon, Lillibridge, etc., and we're now 1 game above .500 and still 3.5 games back. WTF is with that? We brought in some fancy new deck chairs, but we still have the same captain and crew leading us on this Titanic voyage :-P.
  6. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:39 PM) Huh?? Haha REALLY? AJ half-asses 2/3's of his outs down the line and just stabs at balls behind the plate instead of blocking. However, he's by far our smartest base runner and has been hitting very well. I'm hoping AJ is back next year, as I don't think he's part of the problem.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) im still fuming about AJ not even trying to block that f***ing pitch btw.....there are balls int he dirt he just stabs at i feel every other game instead of blocking it...and of course hawk never says a word about it because they go way back.... his offense has been as good this year as he's had in a sox uni There's no doubt that AJ is a very lazy player, but thank God he's hitting this year.
  8. Where the hell was that pitch? The Red Sox are the Duke Blue Devils of baseball apparently.
  9. Jeez, Big Fatti might as well not even leave the batters box.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 01:35 PM) Anyone picking the Bills to make the AFC title game? Your only hope is to talk to Lou Holtz or Chris Berman.
  11. Flash/Web Developer. Trying to learn WordPress development at the moment, and not finding enough time.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) No, Reggie is definitely a bigger slimeball than Calipari. You have no idea. The guy is trying to live through Derrick. Unfortunately there are hundreds of "handlers" out there just like Reggie, whether it's Brian Butler "handling" Arthur and Bryce Brown's recruitment, or others going after even mid-level recruits. It's just a situation that is way out of hand in recruiting, and needs to somehow be addressed. Especially with a few garbage coaches out there like Calipari willing to do whatever it takes to bring in these kids and appease their pimp daddy's. But anyways, this is better addressed for the recruiting thread.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 08:05 PM) ...and of course the world's #1 douchbag, Reggie Rose!John Calipari It takes some kind of special scumbag to get two final fours vacated in a coaching career, and he of course walks away with a better deal. I can't wait until Calipari and worldwide Wes's little cheating world comes crashing down.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:37 AM) I can't tell if your posts are sarcastic or not They aren't. However, it's hard for me to say whether he's the greatest or just somewhat a product of his system/talent around him. There's no denying that Urban's system made Alex Smith look fantastic, and there's no denying Florida has as much talent as anyone in the nation. But, Tebow does have a lot of skill, leadership, and has led his team to fantastic seasons inside the toughest conference in the nation. Florida's offense would be a lot of fun to watch with a guy like Baylor's Robert Griffin at the helm.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Anyone else shocked that the NCAA is investigating Tennessee's Bryce Brown's eligibility? Didnt think so... undefined Don't look now but Arthur was recruited in the same situation :-). The Brown's pimpdaddy wanted extra benefits all during their recruitment, and things amped up with Bryce.
  16. Great story from Miami and Randy Shannon. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/columni...,6580155.column
  17. Had to lol at Stone expecting Ozzie to do anything about that, and they they pan to Ozzie smiling away popping another seed.
  18. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 05:44 PM) Anybody find the 2009 Helmet Schedule this year? I found one done by Simon on Sports, but it has all throw back helmets and I don't like it. This is the best I can find otherwise, http://www.mghelmets.com/schedules.html
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 10:20 PM) Yep, Ozzie needs to be fired on the spot. You absolutely have to bring in the lefty there. That's the worst managerial move I've ever seen. We can only dream.
  20. Guess who's son this is? http://www.maxpreps.com/FanPages/maxprepst...11-d94241b7d737
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Just an awesome event to watch live. They were running into the wind also. Gay with an amazing performance, but Bolt's the greatest sprinter of all time. Will be interesting to see if he can break the 9.5 second mark. Most impressive part is that Bolt is 4 years younger than Gay, Powell etc. Bolt doesn't turn 23 until 5 days from now.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) Your calculations don't factor in acceleration. He's not running at max velocity instantly and the full time. Don't make my head hurt on my birthday.
  23. Usain Bolt ran a 9.58 100M and Tyson was second with a paltry 9.71. According to my iffy calculations, Bolt would have run a 3.5 40 yard dash and was running 23.44mph.
  24. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 02:27 AM) Miguel Gonzalez was moved to the Barons roster today. Donny Lucy was put on the DL. Jared Price is still on the temporary inactive list, which left only Adam Ricks available to catch. Gonzalez should only be there as a temporary emergency option until Price returns from whatever is keeping him away. The Barons are in Zebulon, NC, which is not far from Bristol, TN/VA. The Barons have to have their playoff roster set by Tuesday. If they needed a long term option at catcher with the absence of Lucy and Price, Gonzalez wouldn't have been promoted. He's there for the short term. Maybe he will hold his own and we will have our own 18 year old in AA. But seriously, that's quite a jump for him, even temporarily. But maybe he will pick something up from some coaches or players in his short time there that can help him.
  25. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 03:22 AM) Happy B-day to one of my two favorite posters on this great site (that gay Rowand44 guy is my other favorite). You're the s***@Palehose. I actually don't hate NC as much as I would if I didn't know you. Thanks Jordan, I remember the good old days when I used to argue with Rowand all the time about his silly Duke affair :-). As for hating UNC, I wouldn't hold it against you, I run into and talk to ridiculous UNC fans all the time.
