QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) Hudson, Carter, Poreda, Flowers for Halladay? That would just about finish off our minor league system for the present. If we are going to give up Hudson and Flowers in the same deal, I would ask for Dan Haren at the very least.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) Of the guys the Sox had in the top 100 preseason, 2 are in the Majors, Viciedo isn't hitting and most don't think Flowers can stick at catcher. Flowers isn't a top 50 overall prospect as a 1B, he's a top 100 though. Disagree, if Yonder Alonso can be a top 15 prospect, and Lars Anderson a top 50 prospect, then Flowers has to be considered a top 50 prospect regardless of 1B/C. In fact, Danks is putting up similar numbers as Alonso at #15. Lars Anderson, 21, AA, .260, 8 HR 41 RBI, .353 OBP, .755 OPS Yonder Alonso, 22, A/AA, .287, 8 HR, 45 RBI, .360 OBP, .830 OPS Tyler Flowers, 23, AA, .298, 12 HR, 41 RBI, .439 OBP, .981 OPS

Getz is in the same classroom as Alexei in baseball stupid apparently. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) If they think he'll stick at catcher, top 25. If they don't, top 100. BaseballAmerica released their mid-season top 50 today, and Flowers was nowhere to be found. In fact, no White Sox made the list, not even Danks.

BaseballAmerica is showing 1.2M for Jared, which is nicely under slot by 60k. 858,600 for Phegley.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) http://www.cleveland.com/cavs/index.ssf/20...ees_to_6ye.html Worst contract ever? Makes it even worse with the news today that the NBA might lower the salary cap to as low as 50M in the next year or two. Horrible contract. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 10:14 PM) How certain is that? Last I heard there was a reasonably good shot he winds up in Memphis as well (puts butts in the seats, 1 year deal, he can work his tail off and try to hit FA with a better reputation next year) It seems pretty certain, here is the article from this morning. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/basketba...ry/1131926.html -

Looks like Iverson might be headed to Miami. Fantastic move, you can get Iverson to mentor players with questionable maturity like Chalmers, and Beasley, take time away from the 21 year old SG DQ Cook, and possibly push Wade into an undersized SF role. This will surely push the Heat deep into the playoffs. I'm just so excited. -
Looks like Jacob Rasner is ready for Birmingham. Nathan Jones as well.

I have the same sick feeling I did when MacDougal was added for Daniel Cortes and Lumsden. Yuck. -

Just traded one of our best prospects for a 27 year old mediocre reliever? Really? -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 06:08 PM) I'm starting to doubt that Dumars knows what he's doing. Agree, and it started for me when he dealt Chauncy Billups for Allen Iverson. Detroit is sinking fast. -
Steve Irwin hit me pretty hard. He was an amazing asset for the animal world and had a gigantic heart, and leaving behind his two young kids as well. Not afraid to admit I shed a tear over that one :-P.

Hudson living on the edge :-). Struck out the first batter of the inning, proceeded to give up 3 straight singles, and then struck out the next two batters.

Will be interesting to see how much Shawn Marion will receive, he would be interesting for Orlando if his price tag keeps dropping. Antonio McDyess could also end up being another option. I wouldn't mind the Heat picking up Marion for a year or two at 7-8M per. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 09:30 PM) not sure how the magic are part of that list when they gained Vince, but lost Hedo. Player A: 16.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.9 apg, .8 spg, .2 bpg, .413 FG%, .356 3PT% Player B: 20.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1 spg, .5 bpg, .437 FG%, .385 3PT% If you haven't guessed, player A is Hedo, and player B is Vince. Vince is the perfect SG for the Magic, he's an excellent 3 point shooter and one of the best passers in the league. Rasheed would have also been perfect playing next to Howard, but the Magic might also be smart to talk to the Heat about adding Udonis Haslem. Haslem has a jumper that can keep his defender honest while freeing up Dwight for the rebound. He will also do all the small things with his hustle and not worry about touches. -

Sheed signed with the Celtics. This could be a ridiculous year for the NBA with teams like the Celtics, Lakers, Cavaliers, Spurs, Magic etc all loaded up. -

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) Truthfully, i'd like neither. From what I've read, Wade no wants part of Miami due to Beasley & Chalmers...something about them being immature. Wade is just tired of being the only veteran leader out there and is pretty much demanding the Heat to make a deal for another veteran talent or he's not resigning. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Beasley is dealt this offseason. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) If I was more of a jackass, I'd so be going over to TalkBears and posting a thread titled "Pace suspended 4 games for PED's". Jets LB Calvin Pace, not the one the Bears just signed. I have been hearing rumors lately about Wake Forest football and PED's. Will be interesting to watch Aaron Curry's results over the next few years. -
I think a top 20-25 prospects list that is updated maybe once a week would be pretty neat. Maybe with a stock up, stock down type thing and maybe a short explanation about it. A guy like Hudson would be much higher on a list now than say a pre-season list.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) Gamel's lefty and has a Player of the Year award on his minor league resume recently. Jenks, Contreras, and Fields might not be enough to get him. Old pitcher, high salary , Fields worth nothing, Jenks is the only valuable piece. Now if we paid part of JC's salary it might be worth it for the Brew Crew but I doubt it. Not really sure what the Sox need would be. He's terrible defensively at 3B, and will strike out well over 100 times each year. He's going to be 24 years old in one month and is having a similar year to Josh Fields with no power and tons of strikeouts. He's completely over matched offensively and defensively right now. Will he be able to turn it around and be a solid hitting 1B/LF type? Possibly. Now if they want to talk Dotel and someone else for Evan Anundsen, then we have a deal.
