  1. I can't imagine leaving Miami for the Alabama job. The only reason I could think of leaving would be to get into a conference without UNC and Duke at the top. But if/when Florida and UK come back from their mediocrity, it's not going to be much different.
  2. So, Mike Singletary. He's pretty good. Scored 35 points in the second half and 43 overall as Texas Tech came back from down 22 to beat A&M. Best performance in college I have ever seen. At one point he scored 29 straight points for Tech and he actually outscored A&M by himself in the second half.
  3. You get to ride a Cheetah to White Castle, so I don't know how you can beat that.
  4. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) Touche haha. I guess what I should have said was we have a bunch of young unproven guys who still need to develop. Soloman is really the only one looking like a 5 star (I'm worried we're going to lose him after next season). Kitchen is sort of a weird circumstance; if he would have played the whole season this team would have been a lot better. It took him a while to get used to playing with our guys. Besides TD and Soloman (for like 5 games against crappy schools last year), Uche, Demercy and Reid (sucks) are the only others that have experience. Uche was hurt to begin the season, Demercy can't play offense to save his life, and Reid just plays the tough guy role. But then again, I'm not sure on the experience of UNC. In the end its just weird for FSU being good in basketball, even if it is for only one season. Nothing against Lawson though. He is a great player. If it wasn't for TD's defense he wouldn't even be in the conversation. I wouldn't have issue if Douglas won over Lawson and Hansbrough. In a weird way I'm hoping Hansbrough doesn't win it again, as he hasn't had as good of a year as he has had in the past and Lawson has clearly been UNC's MVP. Edit: Just saw the results, amazingly close vote.
  5. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Toney Douglas should be POY in the ACC, but he won't be. Lawson will get it despite playing no defense and having a team full of great talent. FSU basketball is Toney Douglas. Without him we would have been 10th in the ACC like everyone predicted. Lawson, 15.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 6.5 apg, 2 spg 3.3:1 Ast:TO ratio, FG 54%, FT 81%, 3PT 47% in 29.4 mpg Douglas, 20.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3 apg, 1.9 spg, 1.4:1 Ast:TO ratio, FG 43%, FT 81%, 3PT 37.4% in 36.2 mpg Douglas is a great player on a 23-8 team, and Lawson is a great player on a 27-3 team. FSU's talent isn't as good as UNC's, but FSU's recruiting classes have only been behind UNC and Duke in the conference. For instance, you guys have 2 5 stars, and 5 4 stars. Your 5 main minutes guys consist of 3 4 stars and 2 5 stars.
  6. Wade, 29.4 ppg, 7.6 apg, 5.1 rpg, 2.21 spg, 1.39 bpg Lebron, 28.1 ppg, 7 apg, 7.4 rpg, 1.69 spg, 1.18 bpg I'll put it this way. Wade is 1st in scoring, 9th in assists, 2nd in steals, and 22nd in blocks. He is carrying the Heat on his back while often having 20 year old Beasley, 21 year old DQ Cook, and 22 year old Mario Chalmers in the lineup with him.
  7. Dwyane Wade has to be the MVP right now. Over his last 5 games he's averaging 38.4 ppg, 11.4 apg, 6.6 rpg, 3.4 spg, and 1.2 bpg. For the season he's averaging a MJ type 29.4 ppg, 7.6 apg, 5.1 rpg, 2.2 spg, 1.4 bpg, with his lowest turnovers since his rookie season.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 11:52 PM) And DeMarcus Cousins chooses Memphis. Wow! It's a wrap if they get John Wall. Will be interesting to see if Worldwide Wes can clear up enough cap room for Wall as well.
  9. As a Big 12 fan, I can honestly say this was the worst year for the conference that I can remember. When Texas or Kansas doesn't step foward with a Final Four type squad, the conference is extremely mediocre. I thought OU would be that dominant team this year, but they have even had their struggles internally. It's not SEC bad this year, but it's very average.
  10. Great career Tyler, Danny, and Bobby. Tyler has so many records and accolades, but Danny Green has been the ultimate glue guy. He's one of UNC's top 40 scorers in history with almost 1,300 points now. Bobby is UNC's best defender when Ginyard is out, and has found his shot again thankfully. What a class and way to end the regular season.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 12:17 PM) You're going to play one of the four lucky teams that lost to Iowa State this year in the first round. It should be an easy game. Texas Tech actually won by losing to Iowa State yesterday it seems.
  12. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) KU s***s down its leg and loses to TTech. TTech hit 14 3 pointers and did not miss anything. Thought they did win a share of the Big 12 title. Total mental diahrrea night. Allan Voskuil gets 35 pts on his senior night. I hate senior nght, haha Great to see Voskuill go out like that. This year has been abysmal for the entire program. Nice win to try and block out that 106-51 abortion last year in Lawrence.
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Bears should rather just draft Brett Rhomar who if he hadn't gotten kicked off Oklahoma would've let them to the national championship game. I'm honestly going to laugh my head off at any team that drafts Rhett Bomar in the 2nd-3rd rounds. Even playing against horrendous competition he still had a career completion percentage of 56.4%. He makes two NFL throws in a row, and then 2 throws where you are just left scratching your head. If his decisions were the main problem, that would be one thing, and correctable. But his main issue is his accuracy. He just steps back, fires, and hopes for the best. He doesn't seem to have a short or medium range on his arm strength.
  14. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 08:10 AM) I think it was more of coach K. being stubborn with playing his best players even if they are freshman. Duke is athletically challenged at the guard spot, but K. would not give E. Williams any meaningful run until it became painfully obvious that they needed to have him on the court. He is by far their best option to defend skilled guards as well, occasional poor fouls and all. Vazquez sitting basically the entire second half was a killer for the Terps, as well. It's something coach K does with very good athletic freshmen. He tries to "hide" them on the bench as much as he can. Elliot Williams had been looking to transfer before he magically went from getting a few minutes a game to Duke starter. Gerald Henderson got the same treatment as a freshmen. All the 1/2 and dones K had in the early 2000's really scarred coach K apparently in recruiting and in season play.
  15. OU is a legit #1 when Blake is around. In fact, I might have to pick OU to win it all in March. OU has a dominant inside/outside game with Griffin/Warren both averaging over 15 ppg, with 3 other positions that know their roles. OU has a PG in Austin Johnson that takes cares of the ball and runs the offense well. OU has 8 guys that are shooting over .35% from 3PT, and 5 guys that are averaging at least a steal a game. OU's downfall would be whenever Blake is out of the game obviously, but OU has enough outside shooting to keep them in the game if Griffin has to be out.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) Bucks got their 4th commit for 2010 in LB David Durham from Austin (TX) Oh, you thought there was a downtime in FB recruiting? Still have a ways to go to catch up to Texas and their 11 commits already. Usually by the end of March Texas is finished with 90% of their class. Crazy.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 21, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Crabtree with a foot stress fracture- out 8-10 weeks. Crabtree said the report is false. He has had the injury for a year now and it causes him no pain, and he won't be having surgery.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) As Boers and Bernstein were saying, watch that 2nd pick acquired today be used on either Hansbrough or Harangody. I know it's the "in" thing to make fun of Hansbrough's chances, but there's no reason he couldn't do what Udonis Haslem has done in the NBA. Their game, body, athleticism, and shooting ability from 15-18 feet are very similar.
  19. Looks like Leach won't be going anywhere after all, so I can let this die Brian :-).
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) He's not as good as he was though. Denver's saved $30M with all of their cuts so far. Something tells me that they're going to make a big run at Haynesworth in FA (cutting Robertson would also help them save more $$ I believe). Bly is 31 years old I think, so he's definitely on the downside of his career, but he can still be a solid CB. Denver gave up 5 yards a carry last season, so Haynesworth would make a lot of sense.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) So is it too late in the game for someone to hire Leach? I don't see any job's coming open until next fall. He will probably sit out until a west coast or WAC team comes calling next fall. He's going to be a tough hire though.
  22. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Bly is a bum and I can't believe people thought he was going to be one half of the greatest CB tandem in the league. Dre played well for the Broncos, he had 113 tackles, 7 INT's, and a sack in his two season stint. He was the 4th Broncos starter cut this offseason because he was due to count 6.8M against the cap next year. Dre Bly led the team in INT's with 2 and was the team's 4th leading tackler, which is sad. Dre will be a very solid pick-up for some team, maybe even the Broncos again at a reduced rate.
  23. Indications are that the Board of Regents will be meeting on Friday to finalize the buyout of Mike Leach. Well, that was a fun 9 years.
