  1. Well tomorrow will be an interesting day. Tomorrow is the deadline between Texas Tech and Mike Leach over signing his new contract offer. The offer is for 12.7M over 5 years, which would make him again one of the top 20 paid coaches in the nation. The interesting part is whether or not Tech's Chancellor will fire Leach tomorrow if nothing is resolved. Leach's retarded agents went behind Tech's Chancellor, Athletic Director, and Presidents backs in the negotiations and tried to negotiate with the Board of Regents. This pissed off the Regents, and everyone else involved and Tech's Chancellor considers it "insubordination", which is grounds for firing.
  2. Found out some surprising news today. If you single team Blake Griffin the entire game, he will play well.
  3. So, for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, the Heat got... Jermaine O'Neal Jamario Moon 1st round pick 4.2M trade exception. Heat also got rid of a bad contract in Marcus Banks. Amazing.
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Ha really? Duke I agree with, don't think they will be a top 10 team by the end of the regular season. UNC though? I still think they are the best team in the land. Dick Vitale is hardly a POS. He does some great things for cancer research, he's just a ridiculously bad broadcaster. As for UNC in the final 4, only if Tyler Zeller returns soon.
  5. Rumor of Heat talking about dealing Marion for Tyson Chandler. Maybe they can somehow ship off Dwyane Wade for Peja Stojakevic in the same deal and just completely finish off any hopes of a great rebuilding system.
  6. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) When does Mark Blount's deal end? I think Noah + Gooden + Thomas for Amare is a better offer right now FWIW. Blounts deal ends after next season. That's the max I would offer for Amare from the Heats side.
  7. Beasley, Dorell Wright, and Mark Blount for Amare. Do it.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) Representing THE University of South Dakota. I'm actually really excited about this signing. The Steelers have had two fullback types in Gary Russell and Carrie Davis returning kicks all year, it was miserable to watch. I honestly don't really know how the Steelers won the super bowl this year, just crazy. Steelers had a very mediocre offensive line, horrendous punting and kick returns, and a head coach that was basically a figurehead. I guess the city needs to erect a statue to Dick Lebeau and Ben.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) Wow. It's something I would have done in Madden. I would have run back and forth along the goal line wasting 10 more seconds off the clock. I don't know why Fitzgerald didn't think of it.
  10. Here's a good youtube montage of Nicks plays, specifically the last and first play
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) Palehose, Youre an UNC fan right? If so what do you think of Hicks? Id love him in the 2nd for the Bears. Hakeem Nicks is a stud. He's basically Michael Crabtree, just one or two inches shorter. He's ridiculously strong and regularly stiff-armed CB's and even LB's to the ground trying to make a tackle. He has huge, soft hands, and runs well after the catch. He spent over half the season with a QB that wasn't ACC caliber, and without the teams #2 receiving target, yet amassed over 1200 yards and 12 TD's. Right now he seems to be projected in the 1st round between 20-30. But he's not going to run a 4.4 at the combines, so it will be interesting to see what happens to his stock if he turns in something like a 4.55. Anquan Boldin, without the attitude, would be a good "potential" comparison. Brandon Tate, Hakeem's teammate at UNC will be the most interesting receiver in the draft. He was headed to be a borderline 1st round pick before tearing his ACL/MCL against Notre Dame early in the season. He's expected to make a full recovery and is a possibility of attending a combine. Before his injury he had the potential of being a bigger Devin Hester type at 6'1 195 pounds. Tate is the NCAA all-time leader in return yardage, even with missing his final 8 games. He was also on his way for a 1,000 yard season. Unfortunately for him he had John Bunting as his coach his first few years. He's a guy that could push his way back into the 1st day contention with a good combine showing. If he is truly back and healed, he could run anywhere from a 4.45-4.5. Not quite the Hester 4.3 speed, but good enough and electric in the open field, while thick enough to where he can take a hit. Brooks Foster is another UNC receiver is the most talented WR of the UNC group, and should turn in some eye popping numbers at the combine. Brooks will most likely check in at about 6'3 205 pounds, and should run a 4.4-4.5. He could sneak into the back end of the 3rd round. I can say this in all honesty. UNC's trio of WR's was just as good as Texas Tech's top 3 guys this year. They just didn't get the opportunities outside of Nicks. UNC is losing the best set of WR's they have ever had together.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) This thread really should be renamed the Bears offseason thread because thats what it is going to be Well, the Steelers need to focus on OL and then CB/LB/DT. 1. Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma 2. Max Unger, C, Oregon 3. Victor Harris, CB, VT 4. Scott McKillip, ILB, Pitt 5. Dorell Scott, DT, Clemson
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) Would anybody be against an NFL draft only thread? I think it would be cool. Go for it, we have done that in the past, and the NFL thread is unpinned now. Should be a fun thread for me to read.
  14. I really hope Warner gives it one more year. Would love to see him go over the 30,000 yard mark and over the 200 TD mark and get into the Hall.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) Your O-line still sucks. Ben just made plays. Ben has always protected them to the media, even as they were getting his ass killed every week. Steelers need to completely revamp the OL in the offseason.
  16. Oh my God, what a ridiculous game. Kurt Warner thrashed the Steelers D. Santonio Holmes, you carried this one.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Harrison's your MVP if the Steelers hang on for the win... Time for the other defensive MVP Troy to make some plays in the second half, he wasn't himself in the 1st half.
  18. I bought MLB Front Office , for PS3 yesterday, and I'm pretty dissapointed so far, but I haven't even made it through a full season yet. Then again I had really high hopes for the game, as I love this GM stuff in all of my sports games. For instance, the stars of MLB are ranked anywhere from 60-75. Carlos Quentin in my first offseason had his ranking drop to 45. Jose Contreras of all players had his ranking improve to 60. That and the trade system doesn't seem to make sense. You can offer higher rated players to other teams and be rejected everytime. Yet during my first offseason I saw that Arizona had traded Justin Upton for a few made up scrub prospects in San Diego. I have offered San Diego about 15 trade attemps for Upton and been rejected everytime, I don't get it. Then the music gets all loud and dramatic anytime Billy Beane sends you an email, odd.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 04:45 PM) Agreed. If Copeland wants to be a punk and try to run up the score, he should not be surprised if he gets mugged (and it wasn't a dirty foul either IMO, just a hard foul). Then, he gets all pissy about it to boot. Copeland looked very stupid there. Can't blame the guy. Copeland's a senior that gets to play about 1 minute a game if he's lucky, and he was going against NC State's starters still in the game. The object of the game is to stop the other team, not take a cheap shot because you are pissy that you got your ass whipped.
  20. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) How confident are you on Montgomery? I'm not really in place to be confident. But several UNC guys that are close to the program have been saying he's a UNC silent commit for 2 weeks now. Teams have been trying to tell him that John Blake was leaving the program soon, but a story about him came out today to completely refute it. His head coach said on Wednesday, “I think he’s still very interested in South Carolina, North Carolina and LSU. He’s going to Tennessee this weekend and then I think he still has some interest in Clemson." I would say about 70/30 with UNC/Tennessee right now in my opinion. I'm a little worried about the recruiting staff that Tennessee has put together and his visit this weekend. As for Massie, I feel it's about 50/50 UNC/Bama at this point. He plays everything close to the vest, but a few of the same UNC sources said he will be a Heel. So we will see. Georgia and Richt could sneak in there and shock everyone.
  21. UNC about to pull in another nice commitment in a week or so. #7 DE Sam Montgomery added to the class, and most likely Bobbie Massie if he qualifies. Butch Davis is something else.
  22. Best football news of the year for me, http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs2008...tory?id=3867263
  23. I don't think I have seen a coach fall as far as Gary Williams. From national title to not even mattering anymore. His teams are getting worse and worse each year.
  24. Don't know where else to post this, but Kay Yow, NC State's womens basketball coach finally lost her battle to breast cancer today. She fought a hell of a battle.
  25. There's just no way you can rate our system lower than the middle third of baseball. Somewhere in the 12-20 range would seem to make sense. This is the strongest I can remember our system in a while, especially our top 5-6.
