Graham was a very solid college QB, and will be drafted in the 3rd-4th round. But, he's not one of the 10 best in college history. BJ Symons was the best Tech QB in history, and it's not really close. He threw just as well as Harrell, and ran similarly to Chase Daniel. Unfortunately he blew out his ACL during his senior year and ended up playing most of the season with it. Taylor Potts, Tech's QB the next two years, has the best physical skills of any Tech QB in history. 6'5 225 and a rifle for an arm. Will be interesting to see what he can put up. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) Yeah, that's bad. Unfortunately, the stereotypes seem to be standing true in this case. Singing "Hotty Toddy" when another player was hurt is inexcusable for sure... But, you know, every school has fans like that. I guarantee a majority would feel the same way you do. I understand, and realize that this is their first bowl game in 4 years, so they should be excited. But they still have dozens on the Texas Tech boards talking s*** even right now, 5 hours after the game. -

Utah deserves a share of the national title if OU/Florida is a close game. Utah beat Oregon State, BYU, top ten TCU, and top 5 Alabama. -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) I was wondering what your take on this would be... I laughed at your last comment. Just out of curiosity, did you go to the game? I almost did... Anyway, what did their fans do to make you so upset? I didn't get to go to the game because of work, and my fiancee was pissed at me for it, so I get to feel bad twice as much now :-). As for the Ole Miss fans. During the later parts of the game the Ole Miss fans were tossing "spit" cups into the Tech stands. Ole Miss had several confederate flags flying in the stands, Ole Miss had guys standing in the walkways trying to pick fights after the game had ended. The Ole Miss band played through Texas Tech's school song. Ole Miss fans stood up and cheered and did their ridiculous hotty toddy chant when McKinner Dixon was down on the grass hurt. Now the Ole Miss fans are in droves at the Tech site just talking s*** over and over and over for 4 hours now. I have never seen anything like this. Stereotypes are usually bad, but in this case... -

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) I wouldn't. Not when they beat Florida, lost to Alabama by 4, crushed LSU and every other team they played towards the end of the season. Their only losses came early in the year before Jevan Snead got settled in. The defense has been great all year, but they weren't going to win games like the Vandy game where they had 5 turnovers and still had a chance to win at the end. Now that the offense is hitting on all cylinders and they aren't turning it over much, the defense is even better b/c they get to stay off the field longer. Oh, and you really don't think Texas Tech "didn't give a s***?" Well, you're wrong. I think it showed how much they did care when it started getting chippy at the end of the game and a few of the TT offensive lineman got personal fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct. The TT players looked completely frustrated. I can tell you honestly that Tech didn't give a s*** about the bowl. Very similar to Cal a few years ago getting the shaft after being ranked #4 in the BCS, and getting dominated by Texas Tech in their 04 bowl. As for the Texas Tech players losing their cool, it was two hotheads who have done that crap before and Hamby had an assault charge in the offseason. He's a dips***. Ole Miss has a damn good team, but after the way I have seen their fans act, I have to say that I would root for the Mississippi river against their fans. -

Dez is going to have a tougher time next year. Pettigrew is going to be gone, and Okie State doesn't have any other legit threats down the field. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 11:58 PM) I've been saying this all year. But with today's ass whooping, I think it's time to give them their due. I think Kerry Collins is lizard s***. But when you can run the ball and play stingy defense like they can, you've got a chance. Wasn't an asswhooping. Steelers had 374 total yards, Titans had 323. Problem is that Ben Roethlisberger is a turnover machine, and the Steelers OL is embarassing. Ben has 14 INT's on the year, and 14 fumbles. He had two INT's and 4 fumbles today alone. OL also allowed 4 sacks from a rookie 2nd round draft pick Jason Jones. Haynesworth might have broken Derrick Thomas' sack record for a game if he had played. -

Just posting about a trade I thought of. Heat trade: Marion, Beasley, Chalmers, DQ cook Bobcats trade: Okafor, Wallace, Felton Matches up financially. Okafor would have to ok the trade. Heat would get a starting 5 of Felton, Wade, Wallace, Haslem, Okafor to compete for the East immediately. Bobcats would get younger potential starters at 3 positions and a huge expiring salary of Marion. Am I shorting one team? -

I have a few reasons that I think UNC will get a little bit of a scare. 1. UNC just came off of only a 16 point win over 2-7 Oral Roberts at home. 2. Marcus Ginyard is still out 3. I'm sure seniors Shy Ely and Jason Holsinger will have the games of their lives. I will be pleasantly suprised if UNC can pull out a win by 15. -

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) Cheek makes it official and decides on Villanova. This will put the Wildcats at the top of the list ahead of North Carolina for the #1 incoming class in the nation next year. Big time talent, but a sketchy recruiting process. Jay Wright is having a stellar year for Nova on the recruiting trail though. Nova's class is good, but it should still be behind UNC and possibly Texas. UNC, 5 top 100 commits, 4 top 50, 2 5 stars. Texas, 3 top 50 commits, 2 5 stars Nova, 4 top 50, 1 5 star -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) The Suns' frontcourt is nowhere near as bad as the Bulls' frontcourt, but it's not exactly taking them anywhere either. As Steve said, Amare is an elite scorer but a mediocre defender at best. He can be a major building block for a team, but adding an old, out of shape plodder next to him that sits out most back-to-backs isn't doing him any favors. Because of Shaq they basically have to play at a slower pace even though they're a subpar defensive team and still have the horses to push the pace. He's putting up numbers, but isn't helping them win games. Plus they really only go 3-deep with actual post players, so when Shaq does sit out they're forced to go small. That's a problem when he can't handle heavy minutes anymore (playing about 28 a game in Phoenix) and can go down at any minute with his lack of conditioning and injury history. Robin Lopez doesn't really have the experience or the talent to be counted on for heavy minutes, so they're probably better off playing Barnes as a PF, which is a scary thought. Dudley is a marginal player at best, and is really more of a SF. Basically they killed their team when they picked up Shaq, it's clear that he's nowhere near an impact player anymore and now they're stuck with trying to adjust their approach to try to make him useful. Granted his deal expires after next season, but so does Nash's contract and Amare can opt out, meaning that they may need a total overhaul and can't compete in the interim. That sure sounds like a mess to me. Their one saving grace is that if they play their cards right and don't move Amare (their one good, young piece) they can add a sizeable contract in 2010 and still potentially retain Amare and Nash with Richardson still there for another year if they're willing to go well into luxury tax territory (though they haven't in the past). Phoenix and Dallas just don't seem to "get it". I thought it was Christmas when I actually heard someone wanted Shaq. Then to give up an expiring contract with a good player attached? Just crazy. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) Who should he have been invited over? They can invite up to 5 people. But yes, it's a gigantic joke that Harrell wasn't invited. About par for the course for TTU this year. Here's what Leach had to say. "If Graham is not invited to the Heisman, they ought to quit giving out the award," Leach said in a statement released by the school. "It is a shameless example of politics ruling over performance. The other guys are deserving, but he has earned a place alongside them." -

Dick LeBeau is amazing. Arguably the best DC in the history of the NFL, and the sole reason for the Steelers being 10-3 right now. Tomlin just stands in the sideline and either claps when things are going bad or chest bumps his players. Thank God for the Rooney rule. -

I'll get my little b****ing out of the way. Texas Tech, 11-1 with wins over #3 Texas, #14 Oklahoma State, Kansas, Nebraska, etc and the only loss being @ the number 1 team in the nation. So it leads to being ranked 7th in the BCS. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Note to Ball State: Make sure you win your conference before you whine about the BCS, dodge Boise State, etc etc. However, I couldn't be happier for Turner Gill and Buffalo. That has been perhaps the worst program in America since they went 1-A about a decade or so ago. For him to get that thing turned around so fast is absolutely a great job, and now a MAC Title as a reward. I hope he gets his deserved chance at a better football school in due time, and it's amazing what happens when a black coach not named Tyrone Willingham is given a chance. Karl Dorell and Sylvester Croom agree :-P. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 03:02 PM) Correct, and I'll never understand how he got UNC to offer him a scholarship either. He wasn't an overwhelming player in high school at all. I think the ACC/Big 10 being as close as it was says more about the ACC than the Big 10. Sure teams like Northwestern and Michigan showed the Big 10 has more depth, but it's still a weak league in terms of it's top teams, and your league is only as good as it's best teams IMO. The ACC is pretty down this year overall, although it's top team is amazing and a few teams after that are pretty good. Agree. Michigan State/Duke would have been a great match-up. Wouldn't really have mattered who played UNC this year. Normally I would like to talk about UNC favorably in these threads each year, but this year I just feel like I can sit back and enjoy. I really think Wake Forest will challenge Duke for the #2 spot in the ACC, they are very good with young talent.
