QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 22, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) 35 pts, 21 rebs, and 5 asts for the best player in the nation today. Can't disagree there. He's a lock as the #1 pick. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 20, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Obviously comparing the talent level and competition of UCLA and SIU is apples and oranges (although SIU had a much tougher opponent tonight), but watching both of them feels similar for me at times in the sense that it feels like they are designed to play defense only, not so much score points. I know that isn't how it is, but it feels that way. I'll NEVER understand Ben Howland. He recruits bluechip after bluechip, and then muddles up each game and gives much worse teams the chance to stay in the game with UCLA each time. -

Texas Tech beat East Central 167-115. That was fun and miserable at the same time. -

Man, I'm trying to watch this SIU-Duke game, but it's painful. -
This is like signing another very high 1st round draft pick. Great signing.

Texas Tech's defense is actually only giving up 355 yards a game in conference, next closest is Texas at 374.4, and Texas Tech's D is 4th in the nation in interceptions. The defense being good is the reason why Tech finally broke through this year. -

Tyler Zeller, broken wrist, out for the season. When you are snakebitten, you are snakebitten. -

As a Texas Tech fan, I'm all for Muschamp taking over. His defenses have been iffy, and he's not the same recruiter that Mack Brown is. I can't stand Mack Brown because he whines all the time, but he's a dang good coach/recruiter. As for the Big 12 South as the best conference ever, it's a good arguing point right now, but we will see how Texas Tech, UT, OU, and Ok State fare in their bowl games. It's really ridiculous that only 2 teams from the Big 12 will be in the BCS. Basically if Texas Tech loses on Saturday, they won't be in a BCS bowl unless Oklahoma State beats OU to finish the season. Texas Tech would be 11-1 and ranked at 5 or 6 and sitting in the freaking Cotton Bowl instead. -

Looks like Tyler Zeller broke his wrist on a needless foul by Kentucky on a breakaway dunk. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 18, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) Xavier Henry to Memphis As much as I don't care about Kansas, I really, really despise Calipari. Gotta love the NCAA turning a blind shoulder to the Memphis Tigers, USC Trojans etc. -

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 17, 2008 -> 09:27 AM) I think others on here do a good enough job of that anyway. FWIW, the Chargers who had been terrible on D with Cottrell as their D co-ordinator until he got canned, looked pretty decent against the Steelers with Rivera calling the plays. Still the conditions weren't exactly suited for a high scoring game anyways. The Chargers defense was still pretty bad yesterday. Steelers racked up 410 yards, with 13 penalties for 115 yards as well. Steelers can get from the 20 to the 20 without any problems, but inside the redzone Ben either throws an interception or the OL gets blown up and the Steelers settle for field goals if anything. -

I'll trade you guys Mike Tomlin for Lovie Smith anyday. Tomlin just attempted a 51 yard field goal on a frozen field on 4th and 5. He is something else. -

Cowher is an above average coach, but not one of the top 5 or so in the league. He makes smart personnel decisions with the coaches he hires. He motivates his teams very well, and his coaching decisions in game are at least average. You could do worse, and other Steelers fans are seeing that this year with Tomlin. Who knew hiring a 1 year DC as a head coach could be a mistake? -

3 losses on the year now for UNC. Coaching staff blew their 3rd game of the year. Butch is a hell of a recruiter, but his gameday coaching decisions are terrifying. -

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 14, 2008 -> 10:02 PM) The Rick Carlisle appointment is going well for Dallas ATM. They're 2-7, and a narrow loss to Orlando tonight. My guess is Cuban will shake things up soon, and ship out Josh Howard. He needs to go into full rebuilding mode and see what package he can get for Dirk and Kidd as well. -

Seems Mike Leach has rubbed off on Pat Knight. Knight now runs an uptempo, fastbreak, pressing style. -

I wonder if Shawn Marion and DQ Cook would interest the Clippers for Kaman, and Mobley. Seems to be a good deal for both sides. Marion is an expiring contract that can play the PF spot as well, they would get rid of Mobley's contract and DQ Cook can be the SG of the future if Maggette moves on. Heat get a center which they desperately need and another body that could handle the ball and score. PG. Chalmers/Banks/Quinn/Livingston SG, Wade/Mobley SF, Beasley/Wright/Diawara PF, Haslem/Beasley C, Kaman/Blount That's a potential 3-4 seed in the East, and still young. Clippers still have a good team this year and free up a ton of space next year. -

Well, looks like Ben is back to his 2006 40 IQ days. 8 INT's to 1 TD in the last 3 weeks. Sometimes you just have to wonder what is going on inside his head.
