  1. It would actually be Alonso. But still, it wouldn't hurt to say "there's Yonder over yonder" would it? Maybe it would.
  2. From BA, I would officially shoot myself in the head. #8 pick in the draft and a chance to draft an elite talent and we make a big reach for Donny Lucy(err Jason Castro) again?
  3. Sounds like a good trade for both sides DBAHO. I would then hope the Heat would deal Haslem to your Magic for your 1st and whatever filler needed. Heat: PG. Rose SG. DQ Cook/Hughes SF. Wright/Beasley PF. Beasley/Alexander Johnson C. Blount/Robin Lopez I'm not sure what to do about Marion though, doubt he would be crazy about playing SF in that lineup in year 1.
  4. Jennings doesn't have Kidd's size or defensive ability. He reminds me a lot of Kenny Anderson.
  5. This sums up my feelings pretty well from Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinal "The stupidest thing I've ever read in my life > Posted by Ira Winderman at 7:14:20 AM Granted, in this anyone-can-write-whatever-they-want on-line world of ours, there certainly never is a shortage of sports rumors. Without them, the Internet might just cease to exist. That said, keep moving folks, nothing to see here… when it comes to the doozy offered in today's Chicago Tribune. I mean, come on. Said report: "Dwyane Wade says he keeps hearing his name mentioned in trade rumors involving the Bulls and Miami Heat. Would the Bulls give up the No. 1 draft position to the Heat in exchange for Wade and the No. 2 overall selection? Or some combination of other players and picks?" Uh, Earth to Rumor People… when and where exactly was this one "mentioned"? Without Wade, the Heat might as well cease to exist. The entire point of this offseason is finding ways to augment Wade. No offense to Derrick Rose, but Derrick Rose on the Heat without Dwyane Wade very well could turn the 15-67 Heat into the 10-72 Heat. Duly asked, though, Wade responded, "I can't worry about it." Uh, don't. Get back to those global-warming concerns. Somehow, we don't expect the Heat's motto in 2008-09 to be, "Mark Blount. Marcus Banks. Come see the Killer Bs." If this keeps up, we just might have to turn off the Internet for a day or two, just to let everyone chill a bit. We now get back to those Star Jones rumors… already in progress."
  6. + QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 09:19 PM) I'm just curious- since when is a 6'9 player going to be an inside force? Will he be able to score on/defend guys like Ilgauskas, Garnett, Bynum/Gasol, Rasheed, Tyson Chandler, etc.? = ????
  7. Would have been better if she was wearing the Jordan Wizards jersey. That was awesome.
  8. http://www.wtic.com/UConn-Plans-Calhoun-An...nt-at-2/2282160 Hope it's just a minor health issue or an extension. Heard it might be cancer, but prognosis is good.
  9. Wall had an off tournament, he plays much more under control on his high school team. Still, it's pretty clear that John Wall and Brandon Knight(2010) are the two best PG's in high school right now. Favors is a grown man, even with his stupid sucker elbow that knocked a kid unconcious. He's clearly the best player in the 09 class regardless of Rivals ranking, even with Wall catching up lately. Nolan Dennis really layed an egg all tournament long. I love the TOC, I wait for it all year long after attending a few years ago. It's an awesome site. Unfortunately the talent is decreasing each year for big AAU events as Shoe companies are starting their own tournaments and forcing talent to attend those instead.
  10. I see too much Donny Lucy in Castro. Though my anger of drafting Lucy over Suzuki may still be affecting my judgement. I just don't see Castro as a top 10 talent. I think he's riding the coattails of Posey and Skipworth and doesn't belong in the same class. I would take Alonso if the catchers and Smoak are gone.
  11. I have seen Chad Ford's article and countless threads about the Heat drafting OJ Mayo. I might honestly just stop caring for any single NBA team if that's the case. There's so many reason's why that doesn't make any sense that I don't even know where to begin. I'll try. 1. He's a SG, he had more turnovers than assists last year, and at 6'4, there's no hope of being a SF. I think there's this Wade guy that plays SG as well. 2. Attitude questions, I'll take Chad Ford's word for it that he is really misunderstood and the countless incidents with him all are not his fault. Him being a year older than his peers also doesn't help. 3. Even if he's somehow forced into a PG role, he has never shown any interest in defense, much less having to guard NBA PG's. 4. OJ Mayo with his "posse" in Miami? Yeah that's going to end well. I'm really praying it's just a smokescreen.
  12. Yeah, that's the big question with him. If he can't become a PG, then he's just another athletic, undersized 2G.
  13. That has been the excuse fathom. But Boshamer is 335 down the lines, and 400 in center, and the USA training complex is 330 down the lines and 400 in center. It shouldn't be an excuse, and it's not like the weather is going to change a few miles down the road.
  14. If he doesn't progress in his career, I could see him as an Antonio Daniels type as well. I don't see much of a difference in potential between him and Derrick Rose right now. Rose is a natural PG from playing PG his whole life, but otherwise they offer the same height, same ridiculous athleticism, and same shooting ability at this point. Westbrook is a lockdown defender, which Rose doesn't offer consistently yet, but has the potential to. I guess the question is whether Westbrook will ever become a full-time PG or not.
  15. If you stingy Bulls take Derrick Rose, I would love to see the Heat trade down and end up with Russell Westbrook. He's just about on par with Derrick Rose and Beasley in my eyes. He's an elite athlete with the potential to play PG/SG next to Wade, and he's actually 40 days younger than Derrick Rose. I don't think his skills were ever featured in UCLA's half-court offense.
  16. Can't go wrong with either. Beasley is the most talented player in the draft and produces everything from jumpshots, blocks, steals, rebounds, and great length/athleticism in his 6'9 body. I think he's a more mature bodied version of Kevin Durant. I just favor Rose for the Heat because they currently have Marion, Dorell Wright, DQ Cook, and Udonis Haslem in the 3-4 spots at the moment.
  17. My preference right now is. 1. Buster Posey 2. Justin Smoak 3. Kyle Skipworth 4. Yonder Alonso I'm just really hoping we don't see one final California reach like Stanford catcher Jason Castro. It's really hard to find faults with Justin Smoak. Watching him sometimes you feel that he's too good to be true. Great size, beautiful stroke, gold glove defense, and is a solid teammate. I think he's the most can't miss player in the draft, right up there with Alvarez.
  18. Justin Watts commits to UNC. He's a late senior signee to take Alex Stepheson's scholarship. 6'4 and a heck of an athlete, but raw.
  19. Yes, you want Beasley. He's younger than Rose and is your answer at PF.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 20, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Wade, Marion, Haslem, Beasley, blank. That's pretty darn good on its own. Yeah, I'm just relieved they didn't fall out of the top 2. Beasley is a great consolation prize.
  21. Now you jerks are going to take Derrick Rose, aren't you? :-P. I'm dying to see Rose in a Heat uniform.
  22. Not Buckeyes fan, but he's one of the better athletes in the nation, but he never developed a jumpshot. He was a UNC target his sophomore year in high school when he was rated as one of the top 5 players in the class, but never really developed a jumper.
  23. I think it's critical for us just to even find a MLB player that sticks around with our 1st round pick. Our 1st round picks over the past 10 years have been horrendous. 2007: Poreda is way to early to pass judgement, I actually like the pick. 2006: Kyle McCulloch, 23 year old putting up decent numbers in AA 2005: Lance Broadway, will be 25 in August, pitching well in AAA, solid. 2004: Josh Fields, 25 year old struggling in AAA, decent. Tyler Lumsden, struggling in minors Gio Gonzalez, struggling in AAA but good prospect 2003: Brian Anderson, who knows what to expect. 2002: Royce Ring, seems to be a AAAA reliever. 2001: Kris Honel, never materialized Wyatt Allen, never materialized 2000: Joe Borchard, hold in swing never fixed, minor leaguer again. 1999: Jason Stumm, never materialized Matt Ginter, borderline MLB pitcher 1998: Kip Wells, mediocre MLB career, career 4.6 ERA 1997: Jason Dellaero, yikes. I'm really hoping the scouting changes lately will make a big difference, as this is our best draft position in many many years, can't screw it up.
  24. I love Yonder Alonso, the more I watch the more I wish for him to be our draft pick. He's got the size, left handed stroke, and most importantly the best eye in the draft at the plate. I haven't paid much attention to him defensively, is he a liability there zen?
