Official 2007-08 College Basketball Thread

http://www2.ljworld.com/blogs/sawin_wood/2...awinwood040608/ Some are speculating that the press conference could be a rule change of 2 years mandatory of college. That would be something. -
Rose wasn't ever going anywhere that his "handler" couldn't "get his". I don't see Illinois being that kind of school.
-
And you are right as well. Roy got his lunch handed to him tonight. Hopefully everyone will return, I don't see a reason why not. But Lawson has to find some heart over the offseason and Deon Thompson just needs to learn how to be a man apparently.
-
No he does not, and it's a huge issue with UNC fans now. Doesn't make any sense. I don't have any shame in saying that coach K is a much better in game coach than Roy, but thankfully Roy recruits circles around him. Kansas just played out of their minds in the first half and withstood the UNC run, and then put them away at the end. I still think Memphis and Rose will carve up the KU guards though.
-
Congrats KU. You guys can be ecstatic, Self coached circles around Roy and Aldrich played Hansbrough to a tie at worst.
-
That last basket really hurt. Still, if UNC can get it to 10 with 10 mins left it should be a game. UNC took a big dump in the first half and Kansas played out of their minds. Cole Aldrich is going to be a good one, I saw him dominate when he played Texas Tech, and now he got the best of the NPOY in the first.
-
Pretty scary seeing how bad Collins makes Lawson his b**** every single time they play.
-
I guess we will see if Kansas turned it off too soon. Ellington choking in another big game, unfortunately he has earned that reputation now.
-
lol at Roy Williams. Saving all his timeouts again, what a f***ing genius.

But Love is fat. -
Tom Crean to Indiana

I like the hire as well, congrats guys. He's not really a homerun hire in my eyes, but he's a solid coach that will IU back in the top 20 each season and keep his nose clean. -
Official Recruiting Thread II

Evans has so many hanging around him already, and he is the worst ballhog I have ever seen, he makes JR Smith look like Steve Nash. You know he's going to be a good player in the NBA, but I'm not sure if he will be more than Ricky Davis. -

Evans is a perfect fit for Memphis. Garbage in a garbage can. -
Very good sign that he's even able to have the surgery. Good luck Doug.
-
Yep, Roy cried like a baby after 05. So I would love to see that as well :-P.
-
Well, it will be a while to see how good this group is, but I think all of these guys will be NBA bound below. I don't know that there will be the elite handful of talent like the 82 Final Four, but this set could produce up to 20 NBA players in my opinion. Love Collison Westbrook Mbah a Moute Rose Douglas-Roberts Dorsey Rush Arthur Collins Chalmers Lawson Ellington Hansbrough Green Other guys like Shipp, Jackson, Ginyard, Dozier, etc have a decent chance at being 2nd round selections this year or next.
-
Definitely will be the most talented final four in history. I think the UNC-Kansas game will be epic, but I wonder if Memphis and the way they have been playing lately will get the best of UCLA by 10+ points. Dorsey guarding Love will be Love's toughest matchup, and Collison being flanked by 6'4 Rose will be tough.
-
Feel terrible for Curry. You know he hated having to give up that last shot.

Agree to an extent, but comments like these yesterday don't help the cause. From Pitino, “Because I've coached against Michael in his prime, Barkley in his prime, Kareem when he left, Magic, all the great ones I've been fortunate to watch and observe those guys. Certainly he doesn't have those abilities of those superstars, but just like shooting, rebounding, playing defense, passing, skills, working hard is an acquired skill. Every NBA coach would love to have a player not only because he works hard, but he has a lot of talent. Imagine that. You know, we have an old saying as an offensive rebounder, "treat every shot as a pass to you." And it's a good saying, except most players can't do that. He does that." Or from Terrance Williams, “I've never been on the court where someone goes hard for every position, every rebound, dives on the floor and do whatever to make his time win. He deserves everything that he gets.” Or Padgett, “He deserves every accolade and all the success that he gets. Like Coach said, I've never played against somebody who plays that hard, and the kid is just absolutely determined to be a great basketball player. And big-time players make big-time plays and he made two big-time plays at the end of game.”
-
They keep saying it because how much harder he works off the court than other players. Unfortunately they don't ever mention how skilled he is instead though. He's always the fastest big man on the floor and usually the best rebounder on the floor, and best big man shooter on the floor, but no, it's all about how hard he tries. I've heard "his will exceeds his skill, but his skill is considerable" about 1,000 times from Jay Bilas. It's time to retire that quote.

Kansas is basically a better version of Louisville, who had won the first 3 rounds by 20 points on average. I'm cheering hard for Davidson.
-
Thankfully his dad is an orthopedic surgeon.
-
Man, Tyler, what else can you say about him.
-
Well they made up for it with Padgett passing it to himself, that was awesome.
-
I'll never understand why Roy will not call TO's. Cost UNC the GT game last year and has let Louisville back in this one. Just retarded.
