  1. Don't worry everybody, Ginyard is starting tonight afterall. You can all breathe a sigh of relief.
  2. lol Rex, you would think so, but with Frasor out for the year, and Lawson "hurt", the two best ballhandling options are out the window. Quentin Thomas really picked it up later in the Clemson game, so I have a little hope, but he's still a little used 4 year guy that didn't really develop during his tenure playing behind Felton, Frasor, and Lawson. Weird thing is, there's a good chance that he will go down as the all time winningest player in UNC history. Wouldn't be suprised of walk-on Marc Campbell got a few minutes at PG, things are desperate.
  3. I doubt either will go, and ballhandling should fall to QT, Wayne, and William Graves. Not going to be another fun game, Tyler will have to put the team on his back again it looks like.
  4. That's an odd situation. Would the Magic get Haslem now for a promise that they will draft who the Heat want? Otherwise, having to wait until draft-time would kind of defeat the purpose of adding Haslem this year.
  5. Haslem played well under Van Gundy, he seemed to enjoy the up-tempo style, as did I. I think it would be a pretty fair deal for both sides, especially when you consider Miami's "retooling" effort. Riley was really interested in Crittenton when he came out, so I would best he would offer Williams and a future 1st for Miller and Crittenton. Another option might be trading Williams and a 1st round pick to the Sixers for Andre Miller. Thankfully Ricky is a FA to be this offseason as well. Not sure what could be had here.
  6. As a Heat fan, I would trade Haslem to the Magic for their 1st, Garrity, and Redick. Would save the Heat some salary, gain a rotation player in Redick and a late 1st round draft pick. Haslem is solid though. Anyone want Ricky Davis or Jason Williams? :-)
  7. Ok, Tyler isn't the most talented college basketball player in the nation. But there's not a better one. He just puts the team on his back with his effort, scoring, rebounding, and free throw shooting. He's averaging 23 and 11 now after his 39 point, 13 rebound effort tonight. Amazing player.
  8. Oh my God, what an effort. Down 15 a few times and going into OT. I can't take this.
  9. UNC likely will end up with their 3rd loss tonight and Clemson will finally exercise their half a century demons in Chapel Hill. Ty Lawson is out again. Stitt is supposed to be back for Clemson as well. Gotta love his family protecting him for the NBA.
  10. I would put Georgetown in there. With their defensive abilities and size in the tourney, they are a threat again. They also have some decent guard depth once Chris Wright returns.
  11. UNC is a totally different team with Lawson. Outside of Hansbrough and Ginyard, nobody else came to play tonight and Duke shot out of their minds 48% from 3 and won by 10. I feel really good about the game in Durham with Lawson back. Heck, even with Frasor in the game it would have been much closer. Quentin just isn't a D1 caliber unfortunately.
  12. I was under the impression that he was going to shut it down and rehab the rest of this season. It was either O'Neal or Okafor at C, and I wouldn't want to see an undersized lineup of Haslem and Okafor beside each other.
  13. We know Riley is insane, but if he tries anything with this mess and impending free agent hiatus, he is officially insane. After this season Shawn Marion, Jason Williams, Ricky Davis, Earl Barron, Chris Quinn, Smush Parker, and even Dorell Wright are UFA, player options, or RFA's at the end of the season. As a Heat fan, I would love to see a rotation of PG. Derrick Rose, Marcus Banks SG. Wade/DQ Cook SF. Wright/2nd round draft pick PF. Haslem/Alexander Johnson C. Jermaine O'Neal/Blount
  14. UNC with the 30th ranked class now, but 15th in avg. star rating. UNC also picked up two top 100 recruit commits for next year. Wohoo for a future in football at UNC for the first time since Mack left.
  15. Can't say I'm not happy. UNC and Tech both had tiny classes at 18 and 16 respectively, but both got what they needed. UNC will probably end up with 10 4 stars if Davidson announces for UNC later today like it has been speculated. TTU got the immediate DL help they needed, and provided even more depth with some huge OL.
  16. Best part is that Kansas signed a kid named Lubbock, and he's from Dallas.
  17. As a Heat fan I just know he will fail the physical.
  18. Losing Shaq and gaining Marion's expiring contract? Is it Christmas?
  19. Tech president Jon Whitmore actually resigned on February 1st. A new president hasn't been named as far as I know. However, it was put into Bob Knight's contract that Pat would take over when he left, so Tech has to honor it. Will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. Tech plays at Baylor the same exact time UNC plays Duke, another night of switching back and forth for me.
  20. LOL, that's what I get for not looking below the pinned threads for a while. Knight retired to give his son the last 10 games of the season to transition into next year. He was planning to retire at the end of the year, but thought it would be better to get a head start on next year. At least that's the public story. I'm actually pretty indifferent about it. The thing I'm most upset about is that coach K now has a pretty decent shot of breaking the record :-). Knight had a terrible temper and could say and do some horrible things. But he also did a lot of really good things that didn't get mentioned. He donated one year's salary to the university because he felt they didn't live up to his standards that year. He also did a TON for fundraising, especially for the Library and research. Everyone wants to name the library after him now. He graduated his players, and made them put school first, it almost cost Jarrius Jackson his scholarship a few times when he got behind. Hard to deny he was one of, if not the best X's and O's coach that basketball has ever seen. He never was a big recruiter, but he enjoyed taking talent that others didn't want and beating you with them. My biggest regret is that I have unused tickets to his last game as a coach and didn't go because my fiancee had just gotten her wisdom teeth out.
  21. http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...351/1018/SPORTS Just wow, I don't even know how to explain this one. Someone was apparently calling this kid and impersonating Cal head coach Jeff Tedford, and even went so far to send a bogus LOI.
  22. Tyler went for 22 points and 21 boards making up for Lawson's loss and Ellington's struggles. Up next Duke on the 6th, hopefully Lawson will be ready to go.
