Best player in the nation? Not sure, he's not the most talented. But he puts up the consistent numbers with leadership in generally 30 mpg or less. Tyler has put these numbers up against good competition as well with Davidson and BYU as well as not having his PG Ty Lawson much this year. If you want to give it to the more talented guys like Gordon, Beasley etc who get more P/T and more freedom that is fine. They are both going to put up monster numbers. -

Averaging 23 and 9 for the #1-#2 ranked team doesn't get you into the top 10? -
You can't go wrong with Oakley's. I have had two pairs for 12 years now. Broke one pair, sent it back to them and they sent me a new pair. Thanks for the link.

Jarred Fayson is supposedly going to Illinois per Jaime Newberg. He would be your best recruit in the class even with him being a red-shirt sophomore after he red-shirts at Illinois. He's a tremendous athlete whether he gets a shot at QB or not. -

How in the world is Brian Butch averaging 14 and 10? He takes soft to a new level. -
I've always believed that there are about 200 guys out there that could be plugged in on a decent OL and rush for 1,000+ yards a season. You see it with Denver and other clubs where back-ups come in and put up big numbers as well. Outside of dominant talents like Adrian Peterson, I'm not a big fan of drafting a RB in the 1st round. I think you can find a good enough guy later on and focus on other areas.
-
Steelers OL is questionable to be kind, and with injuries each week to Troy Polomalu, Santonio Holmes etc, it doesn't help the team at all. That and the Steelers CB's still blow, but are covered up by the ability to rush the passer.

Well that was fun.

Should be a hell of a battle for the Big 12 next year. MiZZou, Kansas, OU, Texas, and Texas Tech all return a ton of talent next year. Next year is shaping up to be the best year in Big 12 history. Hopefully it lives up to it. -

Here is a pretty interesting look at how recruiting rankings matter. This is the average ranking over the past 5 years of teams recruiting classes in the top 25. 1. Missouri - 46th 2. Hawaii - 85th 13. Arizona State - 38th 14. Tennessee - 7th 15. Illinois - 37th 16. Clemson - 28th 17. Oregon - 30th 18. Wisconsin - 40th 19. BYU - 51st 20. Texas - 6th 21. USF - 61st 22. Enjoy it bmags, I've said all along you guys are the best team in the Big 12. That and a Missou win gets Tech to the Gator bowl instead of the Alamo bowl :-). -

There's no defense of 22-25 foot 3 pointers run off of a weave. If you can make the shot 16-24 times, then you are going to win. But they will shoot themselves out of games as well. Always good to count on 101 for guidance on each program in America :-P. -
Or trade all your young guys for Shaq. Please.

Here is what Knight had to say about the game. "Obviously tonight the three-point shot played a huge role in the game," Knight said. "Ironically, it's something I've never been for, never will be for. It's greatly changed the complexion of the game of basketball." Shooting is definitely a talent, but jacking up 30 3's a game is going to have teams living and dying by the 3's. Florida used to do the same before they could recruit. They had guys like Teddy Dupay etc doing the same, and eventually always would die in the tournament on an off night. I can't stand that style of basketball at all, and this is coming from someone who made their AAU life off of shooting 3's. I averaged 3 out of 4 a game, and I wasn't even the best shooter in the league. We had another kid named Kenan Hooker that hit 17 3's in one game, and that was back when we were 12-13 years old. Butler's PG is a stud on both ends of the floor, but at positions 2-5 they just line up outside the arc and fire away. Not hard to understand why. 30 possessions of 3 point shots making only 40% leads to 36 points, while 30 possessions of 2 point shots at 50% leads to only 30 points. -

Virginia Tech at #8 currently and winning over #14 BC might propel them close to the national title game hunt. That would be bad, as VT just isn't that great of a team. Nobody from the ACC is. Here's how I predict the top 10 of the BCS this week. 1. West Virginia 10-1 2. Missouri 10-1 3. Ohio State 11-1 4. Georgia 10-2 5. LSU 10-2 6. Kansas 11-1 7. Virginia Tech 10-2 8. Oklahoma 10-2 9. USC 9-2 10. Arizona State 9-2 -

Would love to see a new rule requiring at least 7 wins for bowl eligibility now. With so many teams playing at least 12 games, you should at least be required to have a winning record, and not have a chance of having a losing record after a bowl game. Then we might be able to cut out some of these MeinekeDarleneTheCrackSmokerButShesInRehab.com bowls. -

Doesn't matter about guarding. Butler just jacks up 25 foot 3 point shots 30 times a game and makes 12-13 and wins games. Florida used to do the same when they couldn't actually find players. Can't blame Butler because it's the only way they can compete. But it's still absolute garbage. -

15-22 from 3 point land, half of Butler's shots have been from 3 point land. Absolute garbage. -

Jeez, Butler is such a garbage program. Don't actually have to have basketball talent to play there. Just jack up 30 3's from the short 3 point line and can win most games. I would actually root for Duke over Butler. What Butler does isn't basketball, it's just horses***. -
Was at Target today and picked up NBA 2K8 almost by accident. I was just there looking around buying some other stuff and looked in the games case and saw NBA 2K8 for PS3 on sale for 28 dollars just for today. Couldn't turn it down, $32 off the normal price, couldn't pass it up.

If you haven't had a chance to see Kenny George at North Carolina-Ashville, you should see him. He's 7'8 360 pounds, and is actually playing well this year. I watched him play against UNC last year and he didn't even have to jump to dunk the ball. -

Texas Tech takes down #14 Gonzaga 73-63. I absolutely love this team. Zeno was absolute garbage all night long and finished with 4 points and more turnovers than points, but the freshmen and Alan Voskuil led the team again. Voskuil had the best guard performance I have ever seen on the collegiate level. He scored about 28, but did absolutely everything else. He got all the clutch rebounds, got several steals, made clutch assists and couldn't be stopped from driving or from 3's. Amazing. John Roberson is a terrific freshmen PG. He's as quick as anyone in the nation and already is a dominant defender and an excellent passer. Roberson, Roberts, and Singletary are playing very well as freshmen and along with Voskuil are making Zeno's contributions a bonus. -
