TICKETMATER BLOWS. I had 2 computers on with a total of 5 browsers all searching for the same seats, 4 for Game 1. Only one went through and came back with last row UD. Each one had me virtually in the front of the queue with wait time never being more than a minute. Then each $65 ticket as $10 in fees, total BS. You wanna take a dollar or two for a fee go ahead, but $10 per ticket, COME ON. I heard MLB is done with ticketmaster this year and next year moving to tickets.com, i say it cant happen soon enough.

I was there with my dad too, we were in the UD and had a blast. My dad is 55 and this the first time hes been to a basball postseason game since he was 8. He said he forgot how awsome the playoffs are. The place was rocken all over, the never ending chants, the fans confidence in the awsome Jose. It was great. Watching the game it looked the sox were the big game players. They seemed calm, patient, and confident out there with the crowd on their feet for nearly every pitch, the red sox did not. Today absolutly rocked, and it was the start of a new year for all my jewish bretheren!

I was wondering if anyone has any sound files to comcast sports net themes. For sportsnite, for sox post game, for the intro to when the sox games are coming on. We share a lot of hawk and other sox files here so I was wondering if anyone has the comcast ones??

Haha yeah right. School and work happen everyday, home playoff games dont. Im leaving Purdue for a day just to make it to the game, you only live once!

For all those with an ESPN Insider account this link is very interesting. It basically shows all the numbers for how Ortiz and Manny hit. Where they are hot, where they are not, what theeir BA's are against different types of pitches, etc. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/players/insider?playerId=3748 http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/players/insider?playerId=2974 For Ortiz hes a .329 hitter against fastballs and .380 against curveballs. Hes a .213 against sliders and .239 against change ups. His hot zones are middle-middle, middle-away, and up-in. His highest chase zones are middle way in and middle way down. For Manny hes a .293 hitter against fastballs and .194 against curveballs. Hes a .265 hitter against sliders and .257 against changeups. His hot zones are basically everything middle of plate from in to out. His highest chase zones are middle way up and middle way down (kinda dangerous). This is called scouting report information and should be complacent and drilled into every pitcher of the sox clubhouse immediatly and thourougly. We know the matchups, all thats left is to execute like professionals. Lets do it. GO SOX!!

QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) Tell your History proffesor that "history repeats" because people notice when history repeats more than that realize that history doesn't repeat. Its like when you buy a new car, and then notice a lot more of that same car on the street. You just weren't looking at it before. History doesn't repeat. For instance WWI ended with a treaty that at the time everyone beleive would prevent another world ware forever, we all know how that turned out.

On theme in my history class at college is that History represents trends, trends repeat, and the old saying Histroy Repets itself comes to be. So the question is will History repeat itself for the sox tonight. If we think back to absolute crucial series late in the year for the sox in 2003 and 2004 we have what we have tonite. In 2003 it was on the road in Minny when we got swept and blew the lead in the division which we shorty captured. Last year it was earlier (cuz of injuries) when we also got swept by Minny at home at the end of july after we had made a strong push, the jamie burke collision series. Interesting stat of the night is that tonight is about sold out, no where near for tue and wed, are 40,000 fans waiting to see if History really does repeat? Heres to sox making new history tonight and this week... ! GO SOX!!!

Game Thread -- Friday, September 16th

If Ozzie leaves John in something bad is going to happen. This has been a recurring theme this year. After a stellar perfromace, trotting them out there with 100 pitches, only bad things happen. TANKE HIM OUT! -
Game 1, Box 524 row 6 Game 5, Box 105 row 10 To bad $40 tix turn out to be like $55 after fee after fee. Anyone know the policy on refund if there is no game 5. Straight back to my credit card is it?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:41 PM) Maybe we need to bring another lefty up??? Possible but there is no room on the playoff roster for that. The roster sits at 25 with McCarthy and without Marte.
-
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Problem is, what other lefty options does he have at this point? Marte is turning into a huge dissapointmnet and him not throwing well, or not being around at all is gonna hurt. Well Cotts has probably been underused and his ERA is currently under 2. He can face more than 1 or 2 hitter per game. Also Viscaino is highly regarded is a righty who gets lefties out. So there is 2 options. Also consider throwing Jenks out there to blow everyone away.
-
Listening to the radio ESPN 1000 reported Marte did not take the team flight to KC and is not expected to make it to KC by game time. Thats all they said, they didn't speculate or elaborate. This is becoming a sideshow, i say just release him to do what the eagles did and send him home, and we then trade him in the offseason. Furthermore, I was thinking maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Marte has been and Enigma all year. A left handed specialist who has been anything but all year. Ozzie tries to instill confidence in him, he trots him out there all the time to get lefties out. This year however hes been pretty bad with walks, hbp, and giving up runs in clutch situations. Maybe if hes not around its better cuz Oz cant trot him out there to hope and try to regain the Marte that just doesn't exist anymore.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) cmoooooon, there's like 50 discussions on this same topic in 50 other threads, not every person on soxtalk needs to start a thread to say their opinion on what's going on. /end rant Sorry im kinda new. Dont come around here that much. If it needs to be moved, then move it.

The real question with regard to our recent squandering of a huge led is why. Some other sox fans I have talked to seem to think this team has simply lost its focus and selfless attitude of the past. With Buehrle's complaining of the Rangers hitters and "special light" to Paulie's recent contract talks in the media, and from Iguchi's recent article in the S.Town saying he is more happy has a 3 hitter, to Gloads constant complaining about playing time and spending the year at AAA. Has this team really lost its focus, lost the stride and attitude which made it succesful. This was something me and a lot of others were so sure wouldn't happen with Ozzie at the helm. Whether the sox are the same sox or not, something just does seem a little off (maybe it just El Duque's +5 era)!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) It's rosin. Not illegal at all. Why wouldnt he just use the rosin bag then. Thats what its there for.

Im watching the 9th inning of the game today and jenks is pitching. After he gets an out he steps off the mound and does a strange little routine. He has a big white puff on the back of his hat and some strange substance under the brim just to the right of the center. He steps off licks his hand then touches the back white puff then wipes on his shirt, then licks again and touches the under brim part then wipes a little then gets back on the mound and pitches. Its a little strange, like the Juilan Tavarez incident. Dont know if its rosin or pine tarr or what but he does it all the time. He goes hat, shoulder wipe, brim shoulder wipe, butt wipe, etc etc. ???????

QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Sox hit a tough stretch of games and I notice tonight the outfield is pretty empty. My guess is that everyone is at home grooming their mullets for tomorrow night. Definatly think the Bears game had a lot to do with it.

After todays game i decided to take a look at our team BA. Lets consider the below to be our normal starting lineup (ozuna in for crede on DL). Pods Tad Carl PK Aaron Dye AJ Ozuna Uribe This lineup has an collect batting average of .273! Thats not bad at all. In fact its about 13 points higher than our team BA, meaning this is the strongest lineup we have and should be playing the majority until we clinch. Any team that on a given day bats .273 and given 27 outs would statistically earn about 7.37 hits per game, now add walks and other ways of getting on base and you have a good (not great) offense that should be able to win series from here on out.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) What's the chances that some of the games in Texas are rained out because of the impending hurricane? Id say pretty darn good. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) He is one of the top fielders in baseball. Realistically i would only take hunter over him and maybe sizemore. Offesively though he has been very disappointing... but these are the numbers i was thinking about at the start of the year. If the sox haven't scored by the 5th or 6th inning Iguchi and Everett will be taken out of this game. -
QUOTE(ISF @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Harris is the DH tonight. Wonder if he gets to bat cleanup too. Levine just said Everett wont be ready for a couple of days, willie is DH tonite. With Gload looking like he still needs another DL stint we seriously need to add someone to the bench. As of right now we have 3 bench players in Timo, Widger, Ozuna; thats is not enough at all.

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) I have been looking for a week now for a place to buy tickets to any of the home games versus the Cubs but the cheapest I could get them for is 50 bucks for rightfield corner upper deck seats. Does anyone know where I can get some decent seats for any of these games? I got 2 for the sunday game at the cell for $40 a piece off ebay. Only thing is they are the worst seats in the house last row upper deck with a LTD View label on them.

Just heard on the ESPN 1000 update that Dye and Uribe are back in the starting lineup tonight!!
