This is a move positive first reaction than you would expect. If he's not reiterating that no tax dollars towards the stadium, he's obviously open to it.

Dom Fletcher should be a pretty big fan favorite.

This seems like a ridiculous number of pitches to let him throw
Guess it doesn't matter when you'll never pitch again

People on the board were always screaming about TLR giving everyone too much rest. There is a fine line between the concepts.
It's baseball. Play them every single game.

I was thinking this team should be a lot more likeable. Then I remembered Moncada and Kopech are still here and they inexplicably traded Jake Burger. Still, I guess the sum is still for the best. I'm ready for baseball.

Nice. He's great. If our bullpen needs leadership as has been said, then he's it. I've said it before but I can't imagine Kopech crying about pitching with a hang nail around this guy.

@South Side Hit Men Yea that's what I figured. Basically the city would be retiring a debt mostly already paid in order to take on a new, much bigger debt, that would be subject to the same downside risk except now you've increased that risk by stretching it over three decades. How many pandemics can we fit in before it's paid off?
I want some gold star plated accounting and consulting firm to project what the revenue would be if the city could use the stadium for its own uses for 200+ days a year. That's the nut here. Of course JR's greedy ass wants all that gate and licensing revenue too. f*** HIM.
The debt sounds like it isn't paid for. 95% of it still remains.

Awful and corrupt Chicago mayors that have no respect for law enforcement. Where have we seen that before? Crazy!
I think you're missing the point there. If BJ does indeed have no respect for law enforcement and tries to muzzle them about what really happened, well, then said law enforcement certainly isn't going to do that. They would have leaked that by now.

The dumbest part of the conspiracy is that Brandon Johnson is keeping the cops silent. If there was any evidence of that, that s%*# would have leaked out yesterday.

Year zero of a rebuild and half the team is 35 year olds. I do not understand their plan.
I mean royals memes aside, isn't that what year 0 of a rebuild should be?

I honestly think Ozzie would be great for guys like Moncada and Eloy. He would give them the kick in the ass they need.
I would live to see Kopech under Ozzie.

I predict a breakout in that Santos will do what he did last year for a team that the national media knows exists.
Is Seattle going to trade him too?

How is Santos under the radar? Lol

Worse than the area around the park now?
Bridgeport is one of the safest neighborhoods in the city, save for like the far Northside. Much safer than say, Wrigleyville.

I dont think the inside of the stadium pics are actual renderings.

I like the trade with Arizona more. Trading from a position of relative strength and a guy who's best attribute is his age. The OF needed to be addressed on some level.
Feel like we could have gotten more for Santos. But also hard to complain given Sox got him for nothing and his potential health concerns. Still like both trades overall for the Sox

I have a lot more faith in Moncada and Eloy than Kopech, which is sad. It's not exactly like I have a lot of faith in those 2.

There is no scenario in which this trade doesn't hurt Chris Getz' efforts to move Cease, and possibly being forced to keep him until July could end up being a disaster because of the risk involved.
I don't see much of any risk involved. The Sox got a comparable package for Lucas Giolito this past deadline. Even if Cease pitches poorly the next 1.5 years (doubtful), they probably wouldn't get too much worse value here, unless you really value a draft oick.

Frank (and countless other great hitters) didn't try to pound the ball into the ground and he didn't manufacture a swing to HIT THE BALL IN THE AIR. He didn't collapse his backside or try to catch the ball out front. He hit the bottom of the baseball and backspun (backspinned?) it in the air. It's becoming a lost art for some reason because it's "easier" for these idiots to teach an artificial swing to HIT THE BALL IN THE AIR! and it's ruining a generation of hitters.
For the record I didn't say he did do that. I meant he could do that and still hit for power. My point was that Frank Thomas is a very powerful man.

Frank could hit for power by trying to pound into the ground because he's one of the strongest natural persons to ever walk the earth.

I love Bridgeport and hope they stay, but it's not exactly like the neighborhood has rolled out the red carpet for the Sox or anything. Business development certainly has been miniscule for what you'd expect around a major stadium. The Sox don't owe them anything.

So is there any info on what tonight will entail? Whole thing seems weird.
Sox trade Matthew Thompson to Cubs for old friend Bailey Horn

I haven't liked the free agent signings one bit but Getz trades have been very good so far. This one is fine.
