  1. Pretty simple and nothing to do with total wins. We needed a someone who could lead off, someone with a decent OBP, and he had to play CFer as it's the only spot where no one would be blocking anyone of even remote relevance. Jay checks every box there. The fact that hes a stop gap doesnt hurt as we do have some interesting CF prospects, just not now. If Adam Engel is your every day CFer, Renteria is not batting him leadoff. Moncada and Anderson hit lead-off in 135 games last year....something they should never be doing basically (Anderson especially) and wont be on the next successful team. Jay relieves that and places two of our more developmental players into more proper roles. If we spent a million or two too much on him, who cares? We weren't spending that money anyways. The more egregious overpays were pretty much everyone else added. No one should care about that kind of money or the blocking of Adam Engel
  2. Yep. Going to post for the 50th time this offseason that Jay is a nice fit for this team regardless of everything elss.
  3. Anderson needs to be up there. Abreu and Moncada were my other 2.
  4. Underwood really should be fired if money wasnt a thing.
  5. The mid 00 White Sox were probably the cleanest team in the league in terms of guys caught or even suspected PED cheaters. Obviously they had some but everyone did.
  6. I have wonder if we sent him down early for not signing his contract.
  7. Jon Jay is a nice fit on this team regardless of the reasons he was signed for and I will keep reiterating that until its accepted as fact.
  8. Reports during negotiations said Machado did not want to go out west. Of course 50 extra million can convince people a lot of things. If money was equal I have 0 doubt hed be here.
  9. Incoming major shoulder surgery as reported 2 weeks from now
  10. Same. I'd definitely take Jay at 4 mil over Jones at 3.
  11. For sure. You would just think one of the most veteran minor leaguers in the system who could conceivably see roster time this year make the final 58 players. That's a rough look.
  12. They really dont like Jordan Guerrero
  13. Narvaez literally could not catch the ball though. He could not be trusted to handle a younger pitching staff.
  14. Yeah. Imagine having to at least partially live in Philadelphia the next 13 years
  15. He was historically unlucky last year with regards to called strikes against him. We'll see if things can turn around.
  16. It's not. It's correct. Having this perfect insight into how this organization actually thinks is fascinating. Not for the right reasons, but still, it's great.
  17. Exactly the point. Kenny Williams honesty gives us insight into how inept our front office is. This is what they actually believe. It's great.
  18. Of course it is. Hahn is Baghdad Bob trying to defend these decisions. At least KW is a little honest or at least makes every completely inept decision they make burn all the more.
  19. My father is part of a full season ticket plan. He only picked out 4 games for himself this year. He used to grab 30. Sox are still getting the same revenue of course. But I feel seeing someone like him do that, tickets are going to have to be basically free for people to come in. I think the Sox are in for a real rude awakening but we shall see. Right now the draw is baseball itself.
  20. I truly do hope it happens and that theres enough interest in getting it up. The Bulls one got national headlines and attention, albeit did not achieve their goal. I would expect something similar with the Sox but anything to get attention on the situation here.
  21. I agree. Hes got friends and businesses in Chicago too which should equate to something if the money is actually equal (and not 50 mil short)
