  1. A month ago the general consensus was that the Sox wouldnt even go for Harper and focus on Machado. I and everyone else was cool with that. Then a bunch of leaked United Center pictures appeared and changed everything. I've sold myself so much on Harper that Machado would almost seem like a disappoint...even though hes a better player.
  2. This is a lot better than the BA preview. I'm all aboard the Tyler Alexander train to throw him in the starting pitcher lottery. We shouldn't be afraid to offer back though. If not, bring Tyler Jaye home.
  3. Yeah this seems like a steal to be honest. Hes still pretty good and should hold up with how much he walks.
  4. Hes a legit sports reporter though, not some rando twitter account. It's something to pay attention to.
  5. Most every big contract was signed from early to mid December. Itll happen soon, dont listen to the detractors.
  6. If he didnt play for the Red Sox I think he'd be lucky to get half that.
  7. Usually I BA's rule V preview and come up with a few names I like. Not so much this year. I would pick Kean Wong though. Kolten's brother. .345 OBP at AAA, not too shabby. He'd have to compete with Rondon and Leury for a backup job. Probably lose too, but again, its 50k. It would be really nice to test out a starting pitcher this year, but BA doesnt list any on their top eligible players there.
  8. Nah, they were not alike at all. That's revisionist history there based on how bad Illinois basketball has been. First off Illini basketball simply has inherent advantages over football. Also Football inherently as a sport flat out needs more time to rebuild. Underwood took over a 20 win team, not some dumpster fire. Obviously what carried that team to 20 wins (Malcolm Hill) was gone but Groce had a great class committed to Illinois to try and bridge that gap. There was not some player abuse scandal like on the football side either. Recruiting has been very poor so it's not like there's much hope on the horizon. Basketball is now staring down a single digit win season while other coaches who took programs the same year as Underwood have seen much greater success. Hopefully Underwood turns it around but theres a lot of work to be done. He's done a bad job so far. Lovie deserves at least another year. And if the recruiting rumors are true, than perhaps more. He took over a truly unwinnable situation. Basketball was never in that boat.
  9. I appreciate all the info you have given. That said if you dont expect people to share info from here, read this article. Sports Illustrated did a whole article on Soxtalk and rumor spreading: https://www.si.com/vault/2006/03/27/8373298/anatomy-of-a-rumor
  10. I really want in on the Sonny Gray sweepstakes.
  11. If were using injuries as a stat relative to the rest of the league, Herm Schneider is the greatest trainer of all time.
  12. The only Series he will be apart of any time soon.
  13. For next year? Do you mean this year? If you cant win 10 games at Illinois you should he fired on the spot. I dont know that finances would line up or that Whitman would have the balls to pull the trigger but there will be a lot of questions about his job in March of 2019 if that happens. You cant go 3 years at Illinois and not make the tournament. Illinois wins single digits, that would require one of the biggest turnarounds in d1 history to happen in year 3. Doubt that would happen. If hes not the guy, hes not the guy. They should move on.
  14. Pretty funny how good Flowers has been yet I've never seen a single Sox fan lament getting rid of him.
  15. Thatd be great and would have great upside. You're talking a potential turner-braves situation. That said Prime video is not a MLB Advanced Media project I dont think. Not sure MLB would even allow it.
  16. Seems like a god awful trade from the Indians perspective. Hopefully they do it.
