  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:49 AM) We'd all love Turner, Giolito, and Robles. Jesus christ people. Turner was like a 3.5 WAR player last year in 70+ games. He'll be a 5 WAR position player. Sale is a a 5-6 WAR pitcher. Trading Turner to acquire Sale doesn't really do anything for the Nationals. There is no chance that they do that and we'd all be better off not expecting it anymore. Giolito is best pitching prospect (outside of Urias) in baseball. Robles is a legit stud. They need other pieces for sure and I'm guessing would get them. Bregman isn't available. Red Sox seem to be out. You can totally tell who has done research and who just chooses to freak out by just reading this thread. And no matter how much you continue to talk down to or shout at other posters, it doesn't change change the fact that Chris Sale is one of the the most valuable commodities to ever hit the trade market. Believing other GMs at face value is an odd path to take here.
  2. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:20 AM) new fangraphs article on Giolito. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/why-the-nat...-lucas-giolito/ Well that was uninspiring for him
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:16 AM) No it won't and that's the problem. There are only so many teams that can afford Sale and they will move on to lesser options at some point. We have some leverage now, we won't in a few weeks. It will, easily. Just because a team moves on does not somehow downgrade Sales value to just one top prospect. Sales value is what it is.
  4. Giolito and Robles or its equivalent will be there for Sale months from now. 0 reason to rush into that on the first day of the winter meetings.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:25 AM) trading guys like Chris Sale who's paid peanuts for the next three years is also unprecedented. way to look at only one side of the story though So what is the closest thing to this trade? Off the top of my head it's Andrew Miller (top pitching prospect who is MLB ready) and Cameron Maybin (top hitting prospect with limited experience ) +parts for Miguel Cabrera. Obviously one of the worst trades in MLB history. I'm sure there's something better though.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:16 AM) Real talk, but can anyone name a single trade where a team got two top 10-15 prospects? There's only been a handful of these guys moved in the past decade, so I seriously doubt it's ever happened. Therefore, getting two top 10-15 prospects would pretty much be unprecedented. And despite that, people b**** these guys aren't appropriate centerpieces. Trading a Chris Sale is also unprecedented
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:02 AM) http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/katoh-proje...nals-prospects/ Where are you seeing 40? It says 60+ here. Your link is from April to be fair and his does say 40 at top of his current player page. I don't know what the discrepancy is. If I had to guess is having a "poor" even half a season a low level changed it quite a bit.
  8. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Why do posters want this front office to be responsible for a rebuild, again? Pretty much where I'm at with it. Soxtalk despises the front office more than anything yet want them to rush into making the most important trade in the history of this franchise. Although we are stuck with them so.
  9. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:28 PM) Holy s***. A post-TJS pitcher who sucked out loud in his MLB debut, and a sub .800 OPS in A+ bat is the centerpiece of a supposed "franchise altering return?" After seeing what Shelby f***ing Miller cost, the domestic abuser Chapman cost, and what Andrew Miller cost, this proposed deal is a f***ing insult to SOX fans. You've got to be f***ing kidding me. Unless there are significant additions to this deal, we should be disgusted as fans. Haha completely over the top but I love it Reminds me of something one of the national reporters said a few years back. Want to say it was Keith Law, that 29 fanbases way over value their own teams talent. And then there's White Sox fans who do just the opposite. I do get that vibe in this thread.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:26 PM) This mindset is ridiculous. Giolito was ranked higher than Turner, Bregman, & Benintendi by Baseball America in their mid-season update. Only difference is he's a pitcher and he struggled in his first major league opportunity. And honestly, that's the only reason he's even available. Had he performed as well as those other guys in his cup of coffee he would not be available either. And why Urias is a big name player, but Giolito is not? What am I missing here? And Robles is as good of a second piece as you're going to get. This proposed Nationals offer is far from settling if there are another few quality pieces in the deal. The idea we have to get Bregman or Benintendi or the trade is a epic fail is f***ing stupid. And still none of what you said changes that their best piece is still Turner. The Sox are not the ones who would be closing off and rushing negotiations when they fail to include that.
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) Hahn should tell the Red Sox & Astros the door closes by midnight. Don't give them or the Nationals time to consider other alternatives. Pressure Boston or Houston to top Washington in the next few hours or I say accept this Giolito/Robles offer. Absurd. They're already settling by not getting one of the big name players. There is no need to rush this.
  12. Sox about to trade a borderline hall of fame talent and not get the best young tradeable piece? Doubt it.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:15 PM) Illinois just got a 4* JuCo QB that was committed to VTech. Has offers from almost everyone. Impressive Jeremy Werner seeks to indicate the staff doesn't know about that, ha. Edit: okay he reversed course a bit: "I can now confirm that #illini have taken a commitment from former Virginia Tech QB Dwayne Lawson."
  14. With 3 years of control, White Sox not rushing trade for All-Star Sale in first real week of offseason; Soxtalk.com complains
  15. Talking Smackdown is still the best thing ever. Alexa, Corbin, Ellsworth, and of course Miz vs Dbry all with amazing interviews tonight.
  16. Bears fans apparently do not like Colin Kaepernick
  17. And I do think PSU is more deserving than Washington too but I don't see it happening.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 11:00 AM) I'm guessing PSU hops Michigan and that's it. I agree....but can I call you out on you not being keen on this previously
  19. Top tier wins and # of losses (not even necessarily to who) are what always matter 100x more than anything, whether it's the eye test, conference championships, head to head, etc. Ohio State arguably has the best wins in the country. Zero chance they get left out.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) Here is your emergency backup goalie for today. He played club hockey at Temple. I don't want Darling to get hurt but he can take a quick bathroom break so this kid gets a chance. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?s...id=&season= So did they just sign this guy off the street?
  21. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 08:58 PM) He has a .638 OPS in the Majors...hilarious So we're going to handwave away Avi's pathetic performance over the course of 1600 plate appearances but write off another player completely because of 50. Okay then.
  22. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 05:31 PM) Yeah, having hope for a 25 year old former top prospect with insane power potential as a DH on a rebuilding team is insane! Insane I tell ya! Hi Avi!
  23. He's entering his 5th year with us, putting up a -2.4 WAR. He is presumably the worst 4 year Opening Day starter in the 115 years of this franchise. Anyone trying to see any even remote upside in him is suffering from a huge case of Stockholm Syndrome, but at least you're not alone with Rick Hahn.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 2, 2016 -> 04:55 PM) Pretty much. I want to be pissed about this, but it doesn't really matter for a team that's going 66-96 in 2017. Maybe he shocks the world and turns into a player...probably not. I'm more pissed he's on a rebuilding team than not.
