  1. Also in perhaps the biggest story, NXT's sole writer got promoted to Smackdown. Not sure what happens from there.
  2. Pretty big news in the Observer this week: -WM32 has already broken the attendance record. -Lucha Underground is coming to Netflix. -There is indeed heat between Vince and HHH. Meltzer hinted at that before saying there's reasons HHH isn't involved in the Shane storyline. Basically HHH isn't fully behind Reigns, doesn't like how NXT wrestlers get treated once called up, and is uncomfortable with Shane being back in the picture. Meanwhile Vince doesn't think much of NXT as he doesn't see any of the performers as draws and doesn't like his perception as being out of touch. -Nakamura is the biggest ticket draw in the company. -WWE is still being very aggressive in the foreign talent market. They're making a big push for Okada from New Japan and someone from Lucha Underground/AAA.
  3. Well New Mexico State is one of the best mid major programs ever (if you'd even call them mid-major). They have to get in somehow.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) Tim Spencer is the RB coach. Former Ohio State assistant. Coaching Eddie George from 1994-2003. Any info on Spencer, Rock? So he coached Eddie George, Maurice Clarett (college version), Thomas Jones, Matt Forte, and Doug Martin? Sounds like a home run there.
  5. Jeremey Werner on Twitter: Backup OC targets for Lovie I'm told were Mike Sherman and Pep Hamilton ... Yes, backups ... for #illini football.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) He has a fantastic relationship with Lovie who recruited him to Arizona State like 25 years ago. It is those types of stories and the way almost all of Lovie's former players talk about him that makes me think he will recruit really well. Urlacher would still run through a wall for him. Brewster would be incredible as TE coach/recruiting coordinator. Where are you seeing/hearing that? Werner reported he had interest yesterday but today he said Lovie made the decision not to pursue him.
  7. Turned down his alma mater at Oklahoma but goes to Illinois for the same position. You can't make that up. Tim Brewster is interested in coming aboard. That'd be just massive. He'd cost a ton but for a recruiting coordinator he'd be worth it.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Trumpmania is gaining steam. Time to jump on the bandwagon. So far he's survived: -The entire Republican party -The entire Democratic party -The entire media -The sitting president -The pope -Half the world calling him Hitler -and lots lots more You cannot Stump the Trump.
  9. Mat Latos first start Saturday at Cubs. Via the CST_soxvan Twitter. So much for the panic about him.
  10. On Monday, Sanders attempted to clarify his debate statement, telling a gaggle of reporters in Detroit: “What I meant to say, is when you talk about ghettos, traditionally what you’re talking about is African-American communities.” Oh man bernie. Time to just shut up.
  11. This is the WWE. It's what they do. Yes, he is going to get booed by 100k at WM. Won't stop his push.
  12. I thought the show was really good, particularly the matches. Really wish Y2AJ got an extended run as a team. See no reason why they should continue feuding 1 on 1.
  13. With Davidson there I can't imagine that's the case come April
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) So Whitman said Lovie's available funds for assistants will be competitive with the top of the Big 10 and I've heard $4 million rumored. He's "only" getting 2 million for now thanks to the Bucs still paying him 10 million over the next two years. So yeah they should have a lot of money to give out. And of course donors are going to should tart giving more now that there's finally after some stability.
  15. Sanders says white people don't know what it is like to be poor. Hot take there Bernie.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) It's going to be very interesting to see his staff. But, it seems like Lovie often grabbed coaches from college, I imagine his coaching contacts after so many years are a lot wider than fans would know. His network has to be about as large as anyone's in football. That alone should be huge. I don't know about this season because we're late in the game, but I do expect some big name assistants.
  17. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) People are putting too much into that Rousey and Holm fight. It's pretty evident that Rousey has tore up the division and she wanted to challenge herself further by beating a world class boxer at her own game. It backfired big time for her. If you watched that fight, you'd see that that wasn't the same Ronda Rousey we saw before. I have no doubt that Rousey would destroy Holm in the first round if she focuses on what she does best the next time they fight. Her coach is an idiot and needs to be fired ASAP (for reasons even outside of being an awful coach). Ronda needs to listen to her mother.
  18. I still like Kaplan because he talks a lot of baseball during the offseason unlike pretty much everyone else. I'll take the biggest Cubs blowhard talk over Bears football when it's the dead of Winter. Him defending the Cubs on this is hilarious though.
  19. Ron Turner was the man who recruited Lovie to Illinois. Thank you based Ron.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 07:20 AM) Latest for Laroche was the first half of 2014. And he did nothing last year. No wants to give Avi 600 at bats, but he also isn't past his prime. Laroche on the bench with Avi/Melky leaves us without a late inning defensive outfielder. It's essentially 2 DHs. Now without Laroche one of these guys is going to have to learn to play some first. And of course they're going to have to do some intelligent platooning to maximize this roster You can have Shuck on the bench with Avi. There's no need for another infielder outside Saladino on the bench. It should be Avila, Saladino, Shuck, and Avi with Garcia platooning.
  21. Cross posting this from the wrestling thread but here is a write up on Einhorn's pre-Sox career and foray into wrestling.
  22. Week late on this but here's Meltzer's obituary on White Sox owner Eddie Einhorn: His obituary stories are the best thing across all of wrestling writing so I hope Meltzer does a full write up on him.
