QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Top preference would've been a Mullen but cant complain about Richt. Kind of funny reading all these experts the last few weeks saying how bad Miami's job situation is. In the end, Miami could've gotten any coach they preferred. Mullen was there for the taking and at worst they end up with either Schiano or Butch Davis. I said they need a Miami alum to get someone good. They went that route. Doubt Mullen would have signed on in the end. -
White Sox decline to tender Tyler Flowers and Jacob Turner

Guessing Turner is hurt. We have an extremely bare 40 man with both open spots and lack of talent on the end. Doesn't make sense for him to go first. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 2, 2015 -> 04:16 PM) Let us know how it is on the inside. The pictures make it seem a lot less drab because of the lack of gray, but it kind of seems a little underwhelming to me. I'm hoping it looks better on TV. Interesting. I was blown away by the pictures myself. But yeah pictures won't do it justice, good or bad, compared to tv, especially since we've yet to see it with people in it. Hope it's amazing. -

Will Muschamp 2.0 -
If he can still be okay behind the plate, I'd love for him to take Flowers roster spots and also take some at bats away from Laroche. Unfortunately I don't see us doing that anyways.
-
But the White Sox should totally trade Chris Sale.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) I wonder if you took a poll of random Sox fans at any given home game, how many of them would even know who Nancy Faust is? 15%? 20% maybe? Probably correct. Exactly why she could use a proper dedication.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:46 AM) New 2016 White Sox slogan. " Come to US Cellular Field for the organ and we invite you to stay for the game". Why would anyone stay for that?
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:29 AM) Nancy has a plaque on the organ booth and the new lady has an organ you can look at. I will admit, it is awe inspiring. I'm aware. I just dont think it's much.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) A freaking organ? People will be lined up around the block to look over the organ thousands of times. It is good to hear Nancy herself is the one donating it for charity. Why hasn't anyone questioned where it even was if it would be such a big deal to look at? Let someone buy it, and help a needy kid or family. Put it in the ball park and tens of thousands of people would view it every single year. Im sure someone has some good ideas for it, but it'd be a great dedication for the legend that is Nancy Faust. Put it in a case and use it as a centerpiece to explain why she is a legend and her impact on Chicago and sports as a whole. With the amount of eyes on it, hopefully she could continue to inspire some even in her retirement.
-
I don't know, I feel the organ could serve better as forever a musuem piece in the park than sold for a finite amount of charity money. Hopefully it falls into good hands.
-
Um what? Why? Put that in a musuem case in the ballpark.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) Well reports of Babers to UCF really were premature. Scott Frost is the new HC at Central Florida. I wonder if Babers and Fleck both turned down Illinois through back-channels? Fleck contacted Illinois himself to inquire about the job. He is desperate for it. I don't know about Babers. The person in charge of the hire, using her quotes here, "still learning" about the process. The Interim AD, the only one who might know anything about the process, had no say in this at all. They still have not started searching for a permanent AD which is just incompetence of epic proportions. The whole thing is just a disaster. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 1, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) Central Florida just went 0-12. Not the time to pick them up. They did win 31 games the previous three seasons. Big 12 not only needs a championship game, but they need some revenue streams to keep up with the other 4 conferences. Teams will line up to join a big conference so it should be a lot more complicated then just, we'll that team had the most wins this year. -

In case you were wondering if Illinois football situation could become a bigger dumpster fire, the answer is of course yes! Here's our moron chancellor admitting Cubit is an interim coach: "We hire a permanent AD, and that permanent AD makes decisions about coaches." God, at least pretend he's the actual coach so you don't bury this program farther than you already have. Also she hasn't bothered starting looking for the AD yet, in case you were wondering. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) I think any conference should like a texas team. They provide reach into a huge recruiting market and add a lot of money. Yes but the Big 12 already has 4 Texas schools. Theres no real recruiting or market expansion there. Those schools typically don't want more in state schools to be added to their conference. And in 2015, when the $$$$ is in tv market expansion, whether it's your own networks or not, I'd be surprised if they wanted them. Central Florida makes the most sense to me. Largest school in the country and good for the reasons you listed. -

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Nov 30, 2015 -> 06:59 AM) The Cubit contract is 100% ideal for Illinois. This is an awful time to need to hire a coach. Now they can re-evaluate. Heck, with only 76 bowl eligible teams, the Illini might play in December (which would be awful) Their own AD doesn't think it's ideal. It's awful. This is a lot better time to hire a coach than next year.
