  1. Not when he came up through his first 5 or so years (when Grifol was actually the catching coach). He's not a good framer but was elite in pretty much all other aspects.
  2. https://royalsreporter.com/2020/10/30/pedro-grifol-may-still-be-on-staff-next-year-and-why-thats-good-for-the-royals-but-bad-for-baseball/ Good article from 2020 from the Royals side on how the White Sox made a mistake in hiring La Russa over Grifol.
  3. That'd be great. The Latin American players love him. Could do worse than Salvador Perez' catching coach. The only concern I'd have with him is he's a perennial candidate that never gets the job, but you can say that about a pretty much all the non-retreads (Alomar, Espada, etc). The interview I listened to him, he may be a bit of a nerd, but the players seem to like him so good enough for me.
  4. You'd have to go in the opposite direction. Name Ozzie the manager with a bench coach in charge of decision making. Ozzie as figurehead gets to do what he does best with motivating and taking the heat off players. See what he can do with Moncada etc. Still could lead to a frosty relationship.
  5. He's not my favorite for it but I do think he has the highest ceiling. Also the lowest floor. Lot of variance there so I'd slightly prefer to not take the risk, but if anyone could get more out of Moncada and Robert, I do believe it's him and that would trump anything else if he does do that.
  6. Or it feels like he's honoring the anniversary of the world series win
  7. McCauley has an advantage because I believe they're the only all girls school around. They're number 1 in volleyball for example, which would be the biggest girls sport. They don't have incentive to merge with Rice but I'm sure Rice would love too.
  8. Marist is about to dwarf everyone with the money they're putting everywhere. I hope Rice isn't in trouble.
  9. ? Why would that be? Also companies can't own MLB teams unless there's special circumstances like Nintendo/Mariners and Turner/Braves. Don't know if sox would get approval. Edit: maybe that was more something Selig pushed against more than anything. But that makes me think it'd be more unlikely for Reinsdorf to do.
  10. No he doesn't. Although I'd take the field over Espada at this point.
  11. That's true and if that's fine for you, that's fine too. Bunch of people in this thread trying to rewrite history though and act like the Astros cheating scandal stopped at the World Series or that their own bench coach past that didn't know about it.
  12. If the Astros let him interview, as any decent club would, it's not tampering
  13. They were cheating in 2018. He was very much part of that team. You're right to say he wasn't part of the 2017 cheaters though.
  14. Yeah, I'd prefer nothing from the Astros. Give me someone else.
  15. Possibly, like us, they're close enough to know and not want the potential circus that can comes with him, no matter how he interviews.
  16. Grifol would be good, and we know he's actually interviewed unlike everyone else people are angry about.
  17. I'd rather people post the foodie tweets than continue to read people get mad at their own made-up head-canon here.
  18. So much yelling into the wind here. I get the sox don't deserve benefit of the doubt but literally 0 sources to say they're actually interested in Getz or Thome.
