Changing stations: NHL finds new TV partner
Buehrle>Wood replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
ESPN picked ups something like 30 additional College BAsketball games because of the lock-out last year. I like hockey, but I aint complaing when college basketball is on 6 times a week. -
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) I think this is the quote being referred too: Dan (Boston): Are you a Carpenter or Clemens man? Rob Neyer: Clemens, although that could change soon. I know what he was reffering to, It's just Neyer hinted at the rumor before hand, which is why everyone analyzed is second statment.
-
Honestly, who actually is the Anonymous user? That bothers me, please just show your name.
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) The Neyer comments were about Clemens back. There is concern about his back, and thus why he might not be a good bet down the stretch. Not sure why everyone read something else into it. SB erek in Iowa City: What's with the rumors about the two "superstars" that have tested positive for banned substances? Rob Neyer: We're hearing the same rumors at ESPN, along with some actual names. But I don't have any interest in spreading rumors. We'll know when we know. ...
-
Was he banned? Or does " But it was a damn good post" always show up?
-
I think we heard it from too many places for it not to be true to a certain extent. Almost everyone on this site heard it here first before anywhere else. I don't think any of the media, national included, read this site. Even look at the Boston Globe article. Guess where all that talk originated? In the middle of a Boston-KC series, it even says so right in there. The whole things a bit odd.
-
Not that this is new, but I heard from another board ESPN radio just reported that 2 people were caught with roids. Cept this timet hey named the names. EDIT: I should they reported rumors of this.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) Jim golfed in the MLBPAA golf outing on Monday in Lake Geneva. Steroids was a hot topic and several former players were very free with their words on who's used.. past and present. Some details of the conversations mirror the thread starters accusations. Ahh, thanks. You've now set me straight for the 2nd time today.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) I can't imagine that the likes of Fergie Jenkins, Kenny Sanders, Blue Moon, etc read Soxtalk... and the conversation with them took place before this thread was started. I don't exactly get your reference, probaly because I've been in and out of this thread. But I was referring to Neyer's chat which stated 2 names caught with steroids. The places I have heard this, in order of when: 1. Soxtalk 2. Obscure baseball message board 3. Chicago radio station 4. LA radio station(Or so someone said) 5. NY radio station(Or so someone said) 6. National Media(Rob Neyer, ESPN) Heck, it sure worked it's way out! Ok, so I don't believed it all came from Soxtalk, but it would be funny.
-
QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) this was also from neyers chat. It would be funny if this was all from Soxtalk and one thing led to the next.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) That's not what he said. Ahh, ok. I didn't think he would say something like that.
-
I think I may be taking this out of context. "He said the Sox would rather blow the division or lose in the 1st round of the playoffs with what they have, than to add a bat." If that is indeed what he said, how is that saying good things about the team? I see it as bashing management fro doing somethey can't control, something he should not be involved with. Maby I'm missing something here?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) ^^^ Does this count. I think my prediction was just about the same as his statement, I'm proclaiming myself the winner. I had already read your prediction earlier in the thread, your point? Those are my thoughts, whether you predicted them or not.

f*** Konerko. Shut you damn mouth already. I can't wait to get rid of him next year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) For anyone who knows, will I be able to transfer my memory from X-Box (say, saved Rosters, Dynasties, and Settings) to X-Box 360? To play X-Box(Not 360 games) games, I would assume so. But I believe I heard the 360 will be limited backwards-compatable wise. Not sure what that exactly meant, but I'm assuming you might not be able to play all original X-Box games on the 360.

This got me pretty excited for the Rev: http://cube.ign.com/articles/642/642885p1.html Nintendo to be revealing the full system anywhere from tommorow, to a week from tommorow.
-
I could be wrong on this, but I believe the original post had the names of the guys, until he was asked to edit it, ruling out Kapler or whoever else.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana

Illinois is still in the running, per AAU coach. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) It better not be ridiculous... I thought they would come up with some horrible, unplayable thing with the controller(I mean, It's Nintendo, makers of the Virtual Boy). But apparantly UbiSoft announced big plans for the Revolution today, so it can't be all that bad. Plus, they tried it with the handheld department, and that did wonders for them.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) What part is gonna be free? It's already been stated that the old games are gonna cost us. I'm excited about the idea of playing a lot of those old games, and if I choose to buy a system I do believe it will be a Revolution, but I do agree that the nostalgia is going to wear out pretty fast. It'll be the great new games that Nintendo is famous for that'll be their main weapon. I just hope the graphics hold up to the other systems. The free part will be be playing the games online(basically, an equivalent to X-Box live, except free). EDIT: Also, Nintendo hinted at be able to play older games online, once you download them of course. That would be interesting.

Some other things announced at the Lepskrieg Gaming Conference(basically, just think e3): -Mircosofts conference was just about the X-Box 360 and all the pricing and details and things, we knew that. -I don't believe Sony had a conference, as they will be putting their resources towards TGS(Which both the PS3 and X360 will be playable at, for the first time). -Game Boy Micro priced at 99$ and will release September 19th. -New color GameCube coming out(White, heard it looks really nice). It will come bundeled with Super Mario Strikers, although that may be in Europe only. -UbiSoft pledges support for the Revolution. -Zelda: Twilight Princess delayed until 2006. Also, Nintendo will also be finally announcing details about its Revolutionary and innovating controller in the next week or 2. I'm interested to see what it is.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) What's a joke? THe price? Yes. That 299$ is pure s***. No reason to buy it. Looks like Microsoft will be the only company still using cords. The 399$ is way to expensive for a gaming system. It's bad enough they make you pay to play games online. Also, for whatever reason, the idiots over at Mircrooft decided to skip out on Wi-Fi. I am dissapointed in Microsoft. They had everything going to take the market share lead for next-gen(God knows it won't be Sony and their 1000$ PS3). Now they go ahead and screwed this up. I was interested in buying one, but I'm skipping out. Right now I'm going to stick with the Revolution. It should be about 200-250$. Free, dedicated online play. 100% Wireless. Wi-Fi enabled. And the best thing ever on a video game system: every Nintendo game ever is comes available with the Revolution(Yes, all NES games, SNES games, N64 games. and GameCube games).
-
QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) What does "Xbox Live Silver" membership mean? Basically absolutly nothing. From my understanding, you're not allowed to play full multiplayer online, so I don't get the purpose of it. It is free with the X-Flop 360 anyway, so it's not really included.
