QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) anyone who'd rather have ross gload starting over paul konerko needs to chill. PK is 1 dimensional. Although I would defiantly start Kong over Ross, I can see where they are coming from.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) I believe Ross Gload's days as a White Sox are over. Timo playing 1B, while Gload is torching AAA, tells you that much. :fyou OMIT KW already publicly promised Ross a spot on the roster. He'll be up here soon enough.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) I dont know about anyone else, but I would actually rather have Texiera than Blalock Both are absolute studs nonetheless, and are gigantic upgrades over anyone in our lineup. So stop your complaining on who you want. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) although there was a Zach Day for Juan Encarnacion in the works before Day got injured... so Washington isnt afraid of making moves But Encarnacion is a name and the kind of veteran hitter that Bowden absolutly loves. If we got Castilla, we more than likely wouldn't be giving up anyone on the 25 man outside of maby Crede. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) Brendan Harris was never a Mariner. By the way, he has done awesome in the minors... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/brendan_harris.shtml And just because he was a 5th round pick means he can't be good? Buehrle was a 38th round pick. OK, but still not a "OMG, clear the way for this guy" kind of prospect. -

Washington is still an expansion team. They ain't trading any vets under any circumstances, especially with Bowdens man-love for Vets. -

As much as I would rather have Castilla than Chavez, Vinny aint going no where. It doesn't matter if the Nats are 20 games out by the trade deadline. As a franchise team, they aren't going to go off and have a fire sale. And even if they do, Castilla is not going to be one of those players dealt. -
Safeco is by far the best park I have ever been to.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) 1 thing I want people to keep in mind with Chavez is this... Right now, he's hitting worse than Crede. Crede is hitting .227. Chavez is hitting .218. Chavez's OBP is .276, Crede is at .286. Crede is slugging .368, Chavez is slugging a measly .317. Yes, Chavez plays better defense. But all of the people saying getting Chavez will certainly make us better no matter what would be wise to remember that he is doing a horrific job in the batter's box this season. Absolutely terrible. In other words, you're telling us to trade BMac or someone else very high on the list for a guy making $10 million or so a season and who is hitting worse than Joe Crede, because you're making the assumption that this is a temporary thing and not a full-time problem (i.e. long term injury, got off of steroids, or something like that.) I know Chavez has a record as a positive producer. But right now he is not playing like one. And the last thing I want is for us to be stuck with a guy earning $10 million a year who's career spirals downhill. If we made a deal and he did not return to form, we would be absolutely doomed. For years. We'd lose a ton of salary flexibility, and it would cost us a ton of prospects. You're betting a hell of a lot (the team's future for 5-10 years) on the fact that Chavez can turn it around. Thank you. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) You don't not acquire a guy because you have a 1st round draft pick in AA that plays the same position you'd be acquiring. Especially when that hitter has really struggled this entire season. I'd deal Fields, Tracey, and Sweeney for Chavez and if they wanted one more I'd do that. Of course it would probably be more like Fields, Sweeney, and Bmac or something alon those lines. That or they'd want Anderson. I'd rather deal Sweeney as opposed to Anderson, but I'd deal either. However they can't get Anderson and Bmac in the same package, imo. Bottomline, the Sox have a ton of prospects they could deal and definatley have the pieces to make this type of trade and than go from there. It would likely indicate that this is Paulies final season or at least one of Paulie/Thomas would be gone. This move makes a ton of sense, imo. Yes it makes sense, but the Nats still wouldn't make a deal with us.... -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Pods isn't the kind of guy that they'd want on an all-star team from the OF. I'm sure they're looking for a real masher/HR guy out there in LF, rather than a run producer/base stealer. Oh I know. I just take every chance I get to show off my homerism to the guy. -

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) GET VINNY FREAKING CASTILLA INSTEAD DAMN IT If we get Chavez, we will have to trade Fields to some one. By getting Vinny, we create a short term solution for this year and also next year and then we let Fields take over Why spend so much money on Chavez and give up BMac? I would rather have Vinny, trade Crede to the Nats in the process (they will prefer a younger 3B anyways....they have to build for the future) and get Fields ready for the pipeline. Crede is anyways gone as soon as Borass gets a chance to screw JR. The Nats are still very well in it though. And also, its their first season. They are more than likely not going to have a fire sale, no matter how far out they are. -
It's stupid to think of calling someone up right now. We are already to full on the roster. Gload has already been guaranteed a spot on the roster, so who does that mean is gone? El Duque for Walker is a lock at this point. Personally, I'd want a trade to happen, maby trade Kong. Although, a major trade would probaly take awhile to happen and not just a couple of days.

Best game I have been to this year(although it was freezing at the park). So good I'm going back tommorrow. Lots of interesting things happened; Jermaine gets not 1 but 2 standing ovations during the game, Cruddy homers when his worst enemy goes to the game, and Marte got his ass booed off the field(and deservedly so). One question I have for those of whom who went: What was Mike Scoisca(sp) arguing with the umps in the 7/8th inning? Out group couldn't figure it out.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 29, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Curious as to why it says "Deploderer" instead of Beuhrle>Wood on the left...? It's his work. He has the right to put his name on it.
