  1. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 05:52 AM) Chombi, Are you still alive? After that note I assumed you jumped out a window. I've been a Whitesox fan since 1990. My favorite all time players are Jack McDowell, Robin Ventura and Jason Bere. Yes, Jason Bere. In fact I still have like 50 of his rookie cards. Every year, no matter what happens in the offseason, I get pumped about the Whitesox. PUMPED. I go nuts in March waiting for the season to start. And every year in the past 17, except for one, the season ends up a disappointment because we didn't win it all. We had the best team in baseball in 1993 before the strike. I remember seeing all four games in Seattle and we swept them all. Ron Karkovice won one game with a homer off Randy Johnson. The fourth game of the series I had tickets behind the Mariners dugout. Between innings that Mariner Moose got on top of the Mariners dugout and pointed at my Whitesox hat and everyone started booing. Then he took it off my head and turned it inside out to the crowd cheering. I've been through the 16 disappointing season in the past 17 years. But so have fans of 28 other teams. Every year anything can happen. The Tigers made it to World Series in 2006 after like 20 years of sub .500 ball. The Cardinals won it all that year with like 84 regular season wins. You can complain and rant all you want, and there is probably a 99% chance you are right. But I'll take my 1% chance over your 99% any day of the week. AMEN! I second that and go back even further - I go back to the 1959 CWS !
  2. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 04:19 PM) this was Danks first full season in the majors. Probably the most innings he's pitched in a season. Why throw him out there, cause more stress on his (probably) tired arm WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE? Seriously, I'm disappointed too. But I'm not going to convict the organization for things that were partially out of their control. And one of the reasons the Sox played well in 2005, is BECAUSE of a chip on their shoulder. No one thought they would be THAT good. Hey, I'm not saying this team is going to the playoffs, but I'm also not going to say that it can't or won't happen BEFORE we've hit 2008, either. This is Kenny Williams. He doesn't care what you or I think. And either does Jerry or the board, but they love him. And until he isn't, he's the White Sox GM, who, by the way, is the FIRST GM in 88 years to win a World Series. I agree! I am one fan who is happy we did not grossly overpay Hunter. Cabrera would have been a nice addition but we apparently didn't have the players in the minors to get the deal done. What exactly do people want management to do. I am not happy we lost so many games last year and hope they can improve the team before spring training.
  3. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) Wanted to go on Saturday, but decided not to with the incoming weather and the big night ahead of me... Did they have game used stuff like what is available at the Soxfest garage sale?? Secondly, how about Cabrera jerseys Any discount on those?? No game used stuff - just new items. Didn't see any Cabrera jerseys but wasn't looking for one. If hey had any they were 20% off.

    Pet peeves....

ALL TIME PET PEEVE! People at Sox games who can't wait till the half inning is over to go take a leak! And then walk back down when Thome is batting with bases loaded or some other game turning moment!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 07:34 PM) Or worse yet, the person obviously speeds up to prevent you from merging. That's just being a dick, ha. I have to admit I will do that but only when I can see the guy five care behind me swing into the right lane that is clearly blocked up ahead and then try to cut back in the front of all of us who have been in line!
  6. Most people probably never heard of it but "The Eye of the Needle" comes to mind. If you are a fan - all of the Harry Potter movies are as good or better than the books - amazing how the movies capture the essence of the books.
  7. Bruce Levine reportins on ESPN Sox about to announce they signed Ozzie to a long-term contract extension!
  8. Anyone going to the Grinder Bash tomorrow nite? What is the must see part of the tour?
  9. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) I'm weary of watching Podsednik's miscues in LF. Just bring up Sweeney and stick him out there for the rest of the season. AMEN to that! Misplayed two balls this weekend! Should have had the Thomas high fly Friday night he played into a double and the error yesterday - he may be the worst left fielder in baseball!!!!!! Makes Carlos Lee look like a gold glove outfielder!
  10. QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 12:17 AM) I'll answer your question the same that I answer some guys at work. I am and always will be and remain a die hard Sox fan. When they win and have a great season, I have the time of my life. If they lose and do poorly, I'll go down with them till the end. If everyone else on the board cannot do the same, I can't but help question of how loyal of a Sox fan that you say you are. As far as what else to watch? Anticipation of what moves take place. (Who leaves, who comes,), Watching upcoming hopefuls such as Charlie Haeger etc, and whoever else they give a chance. Heck, I just love the game of baseball PERIOD, and I'd rather watch and listen to announcers talk more about my home team than watch someone elses home team, and listen to their announcers talk about them all day. LIVE! DIE! WIN! LOSE! SUCCEED! FAIL! I AM A SOX FAN! THEY ARE MY LIFELONG HOME TEAM AMEN! Couldn't have said it better!
  11. Thanks to all the people who make this board work! Your efforts to make this the best site around are greatly appreciated!
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) I'd add in she should get the money from her plane ticket refunded. After having spent 7+ hours on an international flight with a family that had a young child who screamed most of the 7 hours I support the flight crew. If people can't get their children to behave reasonably they shouldn't fly - particularly on long flights. The parents seemed oblivious to their "little darling's" screaming. Before you say anything - yes I do have children. Some people are just slobs and have no idea of how to be civil - what really grossed me out was the mother changed the kid in the seat - didn't even take him to the bathroom to change him!
  13. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I'm really getting tired of this 12k crowd nonsense that you continue referring to. You're not taking into consideration any of the fans who are too young to have had season tickets pre-05' or those that are reaching the point in their career where they have enough dispensable income to afford season tickets for a baseball team. I'm 30, been a fan since 1983, and yet, I've been in school for 20 years of my life. I've not yet reached a point (certainly for some fault of my own while in my twenties) that I can afford season tickets. That doesn't mean I don't attend 20 + games a year and watch nearly every one of the remaining 142 on television. I also consume as much public information as is available, and consider myself a very knowledgable fan. Certainly, there are some bandwagon jumpers in the past few years. But believe it or not, there are more than 12,000 true and knowledgable fans that have been attending games for years and years. Great post! Like you I have been a Sox fan longer than I can remember and finally bought season tickets last year. I don't consider myself a band wagon jumper - has always been a Sox fan who went to games when he could - the world series team pushed me over the edge and we were fortunate enough to get a friend to take half the games.

    Rescue Me

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) I think he's too proud to actually do it. Could be wrong though. I don't know if any of you saw the article in the papers - apparently the actor who plays the chief wasn't thrilled about the ending - he made some comments that Leary is really an ass. I can't belive they killed off one of the few believable characters in the show - most of the rest of them are a bunch of retards. I can't believe anyone could be as shallow as Leary's character. As we used to say he would screw a snake if someone held its head.
  15. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) If it is a CC not a debit, call your CC company and tell them that the bar is charging your card fraudulently. They will reverse the charges and force the bar to prove to them that they were legitimate. Visa, Master Card, etc are real bastards to vendors who screw their cardholders and they have almost unlimited resources to fight the bar. I agree Badger ! I would contact the establishment first. Often they have a member of the wait-staff who has a history of doing this. It happened to us at a local establishment - as soon as we called the manager reversed the charge - this employee had been doing this for a while. If that doesn't work call the credit card company and dispute the charge. The sooner the better - they will likely put a credit on you account until the dispute is settled.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:26 PM) Seriously, what part of this series did he lose for us? The offense couldnt produce when needed and the pitching walked over 20 guys. Thats why we lost. It wasnt bullpen moves, it wasnt subbing, it wasnt whatever else you think he is responsible for. The players lost this series, pure and simple. Rock - you get smarter every day ! I couldn't agree with you more - it is painful to lose a game like today's game but it wasn't Ozzies's fault! Along with everything you said - Ozzie didn't throw the ball into the runner going to second or blow the next play. I do wish he didn't bring in Aardsma - that guy should be on the next bus to the minors.
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) Hey, Brian, less time talking, more time being a good baseball player. You are an automatic out. Shut your mouth. At least it sounds like Anderson is coming to grips with the fact that he, himself, has put himself in this position, nobody else--something the Soxtalk community can not seem to grasp. And Mack is any better - when he came up the first time last night he was batting .071 - could Anderson be much worse?
  18. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 19, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) I wish more media would grill Ozzie on this situation so we can get the truth. A scenario I see possible is like the movie "A Few Good Men" where Ozzie just goes off. OZ: You want answers? Reporter: I think I'm entitled to them. OZ: You want answers? Reporter: I want the truth! OZ: You can't handle the truth!! OZ: Look we play a game with outfield walls...those walls need to be defended..whose gonna defend them you??.....you Mr Marriotti? I pick the men to defend those walls...we live by words like honor and team work...you use them as a punchline. I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Brian and you curse the manager. You have that luxury.... I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a reporter who sells papers on my every move and then questions the manner in which I make them!! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to! Reporter: Did you tell Brian he could win the job in spring training just to turn around and hand it to Erstad. OZ: If I say Brian ain't playing then he ain't playing!!! Reporter: Did you tell him when he does play, you will put him in the least possible situation to succeed. OZ: You Fa**ot...I make the lineup!! Reporter: Do you Hate Brian Anderson Mr Guillen... OZ: I do the job they hired me to do. Reporter: That's not what I asked, Do you Hate Brian Anderson OZ: .*@$*&^@ Reporter: Stop blabbering and answer the question Do you Hate Brian Anderson.... OZ: &%$(*#^)*&)#(%$_)#%*)(*^)*(^_ *@$*&^@.... Reporter: ANSWER THE QUESTION MR GUILLEN...DO YOU HATE---- OZ: YOU'RE GOD DAMN RIGHT I DO!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You!! LOL Great post - I don't know what the right answer is with BA - Personally would rather see him in center and Erstad in left. Mack may be a nice guy but isn't exactly tearing them up at the plate and is not as good defensively. I kow that ball last night would have been a tough play - but that's why they are professionals. My vote is he shuld have had it.
  19. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 03:55 PM) Well im currently on the other side of the spectrum. And judging from your information, your not taking my gf out on a date so here is what i have to offer. You have only known this girl for a week, so dont put the cart before the horse. Just go out tonight and have a good time. The stuff with her ex is going to work itself out one way or another. At this point all you can worry about is yourself. If you get hung up with other stuff the date will tank period. Who knows you may go out not even like her and all this stuff will be moot. But if for godforsaken reason you do go out with her, feel that she is the girl of your dreams, and you cant live with out her, then I will come back and give you some advice on how to take down an ex. Just for now think of it this way: Everyone has a past. Hers is just more immediate at the moment. But she has chosen to go out with you. So let the past be the past and just see what happens in the moment. Yo Badger - did you get your computer fixed? Hope it all worked out for you.
  20. I hope you have a great day! Don't drink too much tequila! Hopefully the Sox will bring home a winner for your birthday! And a Cub loss would make the day even better!
  21. I went to the ticket management page to list some of our May tickets and realized you can't list any of the games against KC, Oakland, or Tampa for sale? Does anyone know why? Thought maybe there was a max # of listings allowed but you can't buy tickets for these games either?
  22. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 31, 2007 -> 05:05 AM) The long and the short of it as follows: My computer has suffered the following error in dst status test: 1000-0142. Basically my hard drive is done. Im under warranty, but there are things on my hard drive that can not be replaced. Dell has given me the following list of companies who will give me a discount: Salvage Data Recovery Service On Track Driver Savers Action Front Data Recovery Labs Iomega Data Recovery Services CBL Data Recovery Services If anyone has any experience with any of these companies, or has another company that I can use I would greatly appreciate it. I will not be able to live with myself if some of this stuff is lost. Success is much more important than price. I am truly sorry to hear about your problem - I don't have anything that will help solve your current problem ( I went through a similar problem but my brother-in law was able to restore most of my data to a new hard drive). I do have a suggestion once you get back on line. We bought a wireless NAS (network accessible storage) device and back up all the computers in the house to it. Really neat device and if you do incremental backups only takes a few seconds each day! Cost was around $250 from Tiger Direct.
  23. What the heck is the Home Plate Club? Guess I gotta start reading all the propoganda they send.
  24. QUOTE(zimne piwo @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 07:57 AM) Will be there 3/7 for the Sox vs. KC at Electric Park and 3/8 vs. the Rockies at Hi Corbett. So are we - hope we can hook up! My son -Zoom and I are going - would be neat to meet up!
