QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I had one of the worst hecklers of all time sitting by me yesterday so I assume he had to be drunk. Some of the things he said were: "Freddy, I've seen better pitching in Kane County." And my favorite: "hey ump, I've seen better calls on my cell phone." My gripe isn't really just drunks but the ignorant assholes who aren't there to see a ball game but to be seen at the ball game. From his first game my son was taught we are there to see a ballgame not to eat and get drunk. SIT in his seat and enjoy the game. If he has to get up he leaves at a half inning NOT when the game is in play!!!! I wish everyone would follow some simple courtesy for those of us who care about the game.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Leave earlier if you dont want to park at IIT. You would think that 2 and a half hours before game time would be early!!!!

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) When I purchased my tickets for the game tomorrow April 4th I also purchased a parking pass at the same time. It is a green pass so I can only park in lots F & L. I was wondering how it worked. What if the lots are full already? Am I out my $17 that I paid for parking? I live in Peoria so it is quite a drive and I am planning at getting to the park at about 11:00 or so, I sure as hell hope they don't tell me to go park at IIT. There was plenty of room in the lots for parking passes ! You shouldn't have a problem! Problem is there is no cash parking!
-
We had a fantastic time at the game last night but where the heck are the cash lots? Memo we received said Lots F & L would be cash lots so when we got there at 4:30 for a 7:05 game thought we would get into Lot F. They were shuttling us to IIT at 4:30. We parked on the street over by Ashland and as we walked to the game asked the Sox staff by lot F what the heck was going on - said F was to be a cash lot but before the game they were told passes only. This means Lot L which isn't exacly close and tiny at that is the only cash lot! I know it's neat the Sox are winners but they are making it so only options are to buy season parking (even if you aren't planning to be at all the games) or public transportation!

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Mar 28, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) I've had braces for two years and this is to fix the overbite - it was this or 40K worth of jaw surgery (the kind where you go into a hospital - the whole kit and kaboodle). I had 4 wisdom teeth out about 4 years ago - two were partially below the gum line as well as beneath the teeth next to them - many complications and the worst experience of my life - dentally speaking. These two are up front (3 from the front tooth on each side up top). Well, I am going in on 4/6 at 6PM to have this done. Hopefully no complications. Now off to work with my ass (and the rest of me). I had a front tooth removed about two months ago and needed the two teeth around it ground down to properly replace with a bridge. Had no problems - don't let everyone scare you - if you have a good dentist should be relatively painless. Biggest problem was the temporary bridge - since is was front teeth hard to eat without biting on them. Because they have to let the socket and hole heal before taking impressions for the bridge had to have the temporary in for six weeks. On a 1 to 10 scale of painful probably a 2 - no big deal! Hope yours goes as well.

Guess it's probably old hat to all of you who have had season tickets for years, but we got our season tickets yesterday and they are awesome! As a newbie I am impressed by the packaging and looking forward to the opening game!!!!

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Breaking News on ESPN.. I like this better than giving Drew Brees so much guaranteed money without knowing how good his shoulder will be.. Ill post more when i get the info That's fine but from what I have heard and read Culpepper's knee injury was much more severe than Brees shoulder. They were talking this morning on ESPN radio that they won't even let Culpepper be examined and know one knows when he will be ready to play! Sounds like an awfull risk but depends on what they gave up for him.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) I agree. My co-workers used to drag me into that place to get boneless wings on Thursdays. Absolutely disgusting, its like eating 95 percent bread with 5 percent meat, and all of their sauces taste the same. Disgusting. As for getting wings, I make my own. I havent really found any resteraunt that has blown me away, and I can make wings that taste just the same, whats the point in spending the extra money. I'm not a wing expert(like Rock who is an expert on everything) but we had a great time - the place is fun and the sauces are interesting. The mango habanero was good - would be a fun spot to watch sports events - the joint was hopping. Not gourmet food but a fun place.
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Depends. Where did you find these "wonderful flavored wings" where you are from? Buffalo Wild Wings - several in the Chicago Area - we went to the one in Elmhurst - Awesome!!!!!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 3, 2006 -> 06:30 AM) The prior note was kind of stuck in a glitch thread so I just want people to know that the reason you couldn't access Soxtalk for a large portion of the day on Thursday was due to an error in the program the runs all the PHP. Because of that the front page and forum (which are both PHP based) were basically acting as if they couldn't recognize the code. We had not seen the issue before, but we have been doing some other server stuff on the back end and by mid day we had isolated and solved the problem. Everything should be set and I wouldn't expect any sort of significant outage (not that we ever do) but every once in a while an error will happen and being that we are amateurs sometimes it takes us a bit. I appreciate everyone's patience and apologize for the downtime. We are always trying to do things to ensure that the downtime will decrease and I'd like to think that ever year we've improved on that and we'll be doing what we can to prepare the site for the new season and more site growth so that there won't be many slowdowns. You guys who make this whole thing work are the amazing ones! You need to know that we appreciate all the work in making this site awesome - the recent changes are great!!! We are also working on some alternatives to getting the search function working again (but in a different way). Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop and thanks so much for making Soxtalk what it is today. The site is only as good as the community and I personally think you, the members, are amazing.

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) Gario's in Montgomery makes a pretty solid thin crust. The guy who started that had his own place called Gourmet Pizza, also in Montgomery, but he moved out even further west. What I find embarrassing is that Uno's is the nationwide representation of Chicago pizza. I've eaten at them a couple times and it's just awful. I'm sure the original and some of the related ones are top notch, but the franchised ones... seriously. It really gives Chicago pizza a bad name. I worked for Ike Sewell the original owner of Pizzeria Uno and Pizzeria Due - Is is unfortunate he sold the franchise name and the locations outside of Chicago really suck!!! Their pizza is nothing like the original restaurants and do really give a bad name but life goes on. Fortunately they have left the orginal restaurants pretty much the same and their pizza is still top notch.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 02:47 AM) Sit down and watch until something happens that makes you want to stand and cheer. Otherwise be prepared to have me (and others) ride you like no other until you sit the f*** down. That is all. My Sentiments exactly!!!!!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) Pssh, Lou's>>>>>>>>>>>>Giordano's. There's not another meal in the world I'd rather have then Lou's, true story. Pizza is like sex there aren't any bad ones! Pizzeria Uno & Due are at the top of my list - Home Run Inn in the top 5! Giordanos sucks! When I worked at Pizzeria Due the employees who came to us after working there talked about the rats in the basement!!!!

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) Minoso fails to make Hall of Fame I'll probably get in trouble for saying this! I love Minnie - my earliest memories of the Sox are of Minnie, Nellie, Louis- he is one of my favorite Sox of all time - but I don't think he is a Hall of Famer.

QUOTE(J-MAN @ Feb 24, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Someone forgot to tell NU how good Wisconsin is!!!!!!

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) 1. Harris was not on the team last year. 2. Wilkinson did not even get drafted in the NBA. This team is more talented than the team last year, it is more talented than the team 2 years ago. Tucker is going to make a push for being Big 10 player of the year, Taylor is making an argument for most improved player in the Big 10, and Nixon/Butch have been nice offenisve compliments, especially since Butch's ankle has been better and Nixon has become more comfortable at guard. Illinois did beat Wisconsin at home, but that was more Illinois playing well compared to anything Wisconsin did wrong, it also was perhaps the worst coached game by Ryan (why he never thought to post Ray Nixon who was being gaurded by Dee Brown I will never understand.) My biggest complaint is people coming in here and saying MSU this, OSU that. Someone forgot to tell NU how good Wisconsin is!!!!!! Well Wisconsin beat both of them, and completely hammered MSU. It all depends on the day, pretty much the top four teams in the Big 10, MSU, OSU, Illinois, Wisconsin all have equal chances depending on the draw. ::shrugs:: I think there is plenty of evidence to support that.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) We know the Yankees, Astros, and Cardinals are going to sell out quick to. It is very possible that we will surpass the entire 2005 attendence before a single pitch is thrown... at spring training. Wow. Heck with that - I'm hoping the entire season is sold out before opening day!!!!! Would be awesome to outdraw that team in Blue on the Northside.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Illinois controls it's own destiny for a piece of the Big 10 title with 5 games to go. If they somehow were to pull this off, I will probably masturbate and die. I think you're safe! Illini will be lucky to make the second round in the NCAA - NU without Vedran is a 1AA team and had one of the supposed best teams in the Big Ten tied! Not much chance of the Illini winning the Big Ten - after this week not sure anyone in the Big Ten deserves a 1-seed in the tournament! -
QUOTE(J-MAN @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Not sure I don't think so. Will check our ticket stub tonite. Checked with my son we are in section 202 row kk - that is the last row of the purple preferred section - I think row AA is about halfway up but not sure and can't find a seating chart with rows. Wish I could help more.

QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) Do you know the first row in the 200 section? Is it AA? Not sure I don't think so. Will check our ticket stub tonite.

Illini make another appeal for Illiniwek

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 11:53 PM) The University no longer uses the Chief on any school sponsored t-shirts or logos. Only bootlegged items are sold with the Chief on them. It's not that I'm using FSU or Central Michigan or Utah as an example. But, just because the tribes say "ok" doesn't mean it's not "hostile and abusive." Or vice versa. What I'm saying is, if it's hostile and abusive here, it's hostile and abusive everywhere. And the "ok" shouldn't be the deciding factor. What scares me is that this will start a slippery slope. America is about being able to say what you want, but it's not about a group of people protesting and something changes. And that's the expectations are beginning to be. If I complain loud enough, they'll change it. Well, that may be the case, but, I think it's getting to the point where EVERYONE thinks they are right and EVERYONE wants their issues to be resolved. Amen! -

QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Feb 2, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) I am an alum and by wiping away all of the Native American symbols, to me its basically saying that your traditions and culture aren't important enough to anyone. Lets just pretend that this never existed or mattered. At least with the Chief, I got to learn about important pieces of the tradition and history. The Chief doesn't go on the road anyways and is not shown on TV so what harm is it doing? I think that the NCAA should spend its time and energy dealing with graduation rates of students and the illegal money flowing into University's due to athletics. Finally the voice of reason!!!!! My thoughts exactly!!!! (For the record I did not go to Illinois!!!) -
