QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) A 4-pitch walk? Why did they go to the mound? But you don't have to. Put Mack in the pitcher's spot to lead off the inning, and slot the pitcher in Anderson's spot. The way the ball is carrying today I don't want Mack out there.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) Thats one expensive righty coming out of the pen.....I'm really sick of Vazquez s***ting himself after getting the lead. I really would not be disappointed to see him traded on the 31st.... Only problem is that he has little trade value. Expensive or not, I'd rather see Brandon in there right now. He would do a better job.
-
Vazquez thinks his fastball is better than it is, plain and simple.
-
Gotta stop blowing these opportunities.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) good pitch by Maddux there. Not really, it was right down the middle, Dye just pulled off of it.

At this point I think we should put Pablo on the DL to fully heal, we're going to need him down the stretch.

Was that a balk? Farmer says it definitely was. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) Oh, im going. Me too, I was so pumped when I got these in the mail, I can't think of any better way to spend an off-day (on the schedule) than being at the park.
-
Did anyone else get passes for this in the mail? I got them for July 27th and was wondering if anyone had gone to one of these things yet this year or last year.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) This is a pointless argument, probably showing the differences in our ages more than anything. I still argue that the term now has no derivation in any Dr. Seuss book. How old are you? I'm 25. edit: You are right ,it is a pointless argument. I am right though.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Nah man, "crunk" comes from a combo of "chronic" and "drunk". For example, "Lets get some gin and juice, role up a blunt, and get crunk." No, the word first appeared in the Dr. Seuss book "Marvin K. Mooney will you please go now!" That's all I was saying, I know how all the retards today use it.

It's hilarious that word came from a Dr. Seuss book and now its cool. As far as this series goes I'm taking an extended lunch today so I can watch the game! GO SOX

Does Contreras Deserve to start the All Star Game
valponick replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Why does he have to? They are not head and shoulders above what Contreras has done. Ozzie Guillen is the manager of the World Champion Chicago White Sox. Who cares about the other teams. I remember plenty of times when one of the White Sox players got screwed by not making the team because the manager chose one of his own. Ozzie should do the same. Right now, yes they are easily pitching better than Contreras is. This game counts, I fully anticipate us going back to the playoffs again this year and I would like homefield advantage for the AL in the world series. At this point in time Santana/Halladay give the AL a better chance to make that happen. Ozzie will take care of his players and take as many as possible. People can talk all they want about Contreras' streak but the fact is that streak should have ended in Cincinnatti and he hasn't been as good this year as Santana or Halladay. -

I don't think so. I think Ozzie has to go with Santana, maybe Halladay. -
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) I'm calling bulls***, Rock. You know better. None of this schoolyard, homer s***...not from you. I agree with you Addison. Ideally you want to win every series but in this case I felt coming out of Pittsburgh with anything less than a sweep would be a dissapointment. We were a team on fire, throwing our top 3 pitchers out there against one of the worst teams in baseball.

I've had some bad experiences with the red-shirted folk as well. One that comes to mind was on Easter Sunday during the rain delays my wife and I went up to the concourse to get out of the rain and she was sitting down on one of those shoe-shine things eating some nachos. Keep in mind my wife was 7 months pregnant at the time....the red-shirt lady said she couldn't sit there and demanded my wife get up and stand to eat her nachos. I snapped at her and asked her if she could see she was pregnant and she said "I am doing my job", she walked away and my wife sat back down.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb Chicago White Sox third baseman Joe Crede has been named Bank of America Presents the American League Players of the Week for the period ending June 25th. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment. Crede batted .429 (9-21) with a 1.095 slugging percentage, four home runs, nine RBI and 23 total bases during this stretch. In Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Crede went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double and three RBI. He also hit a game-tying grand slam in the seventh inning of Saturday's game against Houston, in which Chicago came back from a 5-1 deficit to earn a 6-5 win in a rematch of the 2005 World Series. This is Crede's second Player of the Week Award (previous: week ending 9/1/02; .409, 4 HR, 11 RBI) and it marks the second consecutive week that a White Sox player has won the weekly honors, as first baseman Paul Konerko won last week. Other candidates considered were Boston's Manny Ramirez (.471, 3 2B, 3 HR, 9 RBI); Minnesota's Justin Morneau (.435, 3 HR, 6 RBI); Seattle's Kenji Johjima (.500, 1.045 SLG, 3 2B, 3 HR, 6 RBI); and Tampa Bay's Aubrey Huff (.478, 2 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI). In recognition of this honor, Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, is proud to award the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week Joe Crede with a Tourneau luxury Swiss timepiece.

Memo to Jim Thome: Please adjust to Inside Pitch
valponick replied to Hangar18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lately it seems like he is guessing a bit at the plate. Earlier in the season we seen a few opposite/center field homeruns and I think thats a good indicator of how comfortable he is at the plate. He seems to be out in front of alot more pitches instead of waiting back on them a bit. That being said, I think he'll be fine and like JimH pointed out, he's definitely aware of the fact he went 0-6 with 4 K's last night and he'll make what adjustments he needs to make. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) The timing of things is odd, especially with the pen getting a few good workouts lately. Jenks had worked 3 of 4 games, Thornton had worked 2.1 the day before, and McCarthy had also worked two IP the game prior... I don't get it? Riske had worked 2.2 the past two games himself, he most likely was considered unavailable for last nights game anyways, of course he very well could have been needed but there was no way to know it would last 13 innings. McCarthy had pitched only 1 inning the game prior. I'm guessing the fact that he had worked two straight days, the off-day today and Buehrle going Tuesday that the bullpen wouldn't really miss him so they wanted to get the suspension out of the way as it would have most likely been upheld after an appeal anyways.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) Um, Ozzie only got one game per David Schuster of the Score. My original info was per Bruce Levine on ESPN radio.....I just got back in my office from lunch so I haven't heard anything else about it. Levine could have been wrong, it's not like it'd be the first time.
-
1 game for Ozzie, 3 for Riske. Riske to appeal, Ozzie to miss tonights game.
