  4. Having confidence and being cocky are two totally different things. Jerry is confident in his ability and I am as well. Jerry has been a class act since he's been with us
  5. Brian Anderson just received his ticket to Chicago today
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) With Haeger and Broadway out, I think that means there is a 99% chance that Masset is in the pen. He's the only pen arm left that can go a few innings. I'm a little surprised they want to just release Vasquez - he seemed to do well last year. I wonder if something came up in camp we haven't heard about, or if he's got some sort of mechanical issue. I'm also surprised, he did have some success last year and I believe some thought he might get called up. Kenny even kept saying we made the Cotts trade not only for Aardsma but for a pitcher named Carlos Vasquez, blah blah. Oh well,
  7. All I have to add is that there is nothing better than watching White Sox Baseball with a beer in hand :cheers I can't play world of warcraft and watch white sox baseball but I can drink and watch it so therefore, Drinking>Gaming
  8. If this is true and Bart is signed with the intention of being in the rotation. Does the whole Crede to San Fran thing change? Rumors of the Sox supposedly getting Lowry or a Sanchez for him would probably die down. We would then go for 2 prospects or so, which I feel is what we're getting back anyways.

    Cell Phone PDAs

I've had the Dash for a little over a year and I'm really happy with it. It has everything that you said you needed and is real easy to use and figure out. The e-mail is great, the internet is a bit pricey ($29 bucks a month), setting appointments would not be a problem on this at all. The keyboard is great for texting/emailing but the numbers for fast dialing are small. Still, not a big deal. The screen is pretty big and the phone is definetly lighter than a blackberry. The thing is, the phone is very durable, I've dropped this phone tons of times and everything is still fine. It also gives you the classy look when calling, well maybe cuz I'm in college. Any other questions let me know, I recommend it.
  10. 1) playing for about 5 years, 3 years here at soxtalk 2) Head to Head 3) can't remember 4) no to being commish
  11. Jerry Owens is more than a 4th outfielder and is now seen as a leadoff man
  12. This really gets closer and closer, Hope all is well at NIU. Thoughts and Prayers all around. I go to ISU and have friends at NIU, all are alright so far.
  13. KC. I wanna say he shut em out just givin a couple of hits
  14. Go with a Hyundai Sonata. Great car for the money you pay
  15. Good move, don't care about the price. We needed to improve the bullpen instead of trotting out Day, Aardsma, Sisco, Masset, Myers out there to get killed. We now have two guys, who have been dominant before and could very well dominant this year. I'll take guys with good track records rather than no record at all, if we really do plan to contend.
  16. mods, please change the title, i heard it was an extension. sorry about the uninformed title
  17. Just heard that Crede was extended for a year? confirm?
  18. With at least three young position players set to be in our lineup, do you think Fields could be a centerpiece for a Bedard. I'll take Quentin and Owens in the outfield. Fields, Gio, Egbert for a Bedard. It would certainly stabilize the rotation more than it is now. If Quentin is what he was in the minors, he's going to put up numbers similar to Fukudome and Owens may be a slight downgrade from a Crisp. Just throwing things out there, thoughts?
  19. Good call on this one guys. I really think with the potential of Quentin, Richar and Owens. Kenny could deal Fields as the centerpiece for a Bedard.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) haha If you're gonna quote something, please quote what I said plus the explanation along with it. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 10:50 PM) Unfortunately we have our everyday SS in Uribe now. Would you give up Fields, Gonzalez and say Egbert for Crawford, and would the Rays do that deal? Crawford's pretty close to an untouchable, due to his contract and various skills etc. Would the Sox be better served trying to acquire Rocco Baldelli on the cheap instead? I would take Crawford over Cabrera any day. Give up the farm. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) You would rather have a hitter that hit under 250 and has a propensity to strike out, over one of the leagues best hitters who happens to be 24. That makes sense. I like Josh as much as the next person, so let me be very blunt. Cabrera >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Josh Fields I appreciate your sarcasm. Like I said, Cabrera is an absolute stud but if we do get him and do nothing else, we'll be still have the slow power guys in the middle of the lineup that can't get anything done if there's no one on base in front of them. Get a leadoff man, ie. Crawford, Figgins and then worry about getting a guy like Cabrera. If we give up the farm for the leadoff guy, so be it. The comparisons to Carlos Lee are similar and we did nothing with Carlos. If you want Cabrera than have fun with Jerry Owens as your leadoff man. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) Are we going to compete the next two seasons while Cabrera is under his current contract? Even with Cabrera next season, I don't like where the team stands as of now (improvements could still be made obviously). If we are going to give up 3 players that likely will be fixers at minimum cost in 2010, we better damn well make a handful of more moves or sign Cabrera long-term. A good point. You can give the farm up for Cabrera and be happy but if we finish third the next two years, he will see the $$$ and will be in pinstripes. Even if he does come here, Thome/Konerko all older, JD might be injury prone at that point, Crede will be gone, Fields will be gone in the trade that sent him here, there would be no stability for him to want to stay here.
