  1. I know I’m damaged by the Sox this year because every time I see that Zavala had a neg .4 WAR, I think “no way Sammy is that high with his awful hitting this year”
  2. It just set the rebuild back even more that they got so little in return for Burger, Bummer, Santos and Mena. Doesn’t even matter much to me how they do with their new teams (except I want Burger to do well), but those were valuable assets they cashed in and came up empty. Just awful scouting once again by the Sox.
  3. I agree with the 4 ceiling, and if he was the second piece in the trade, it would have been fine. He desperately needs to find a way to make his fastball more effective at this level.
  4. Won’t argue on the defense, but he’s not a below average hitter. To be fair, might be last day to argue he is
  5. Hell, look at how awesome Tyson Miller and Jorge Lopez have been in the pen for the Cubs. Meanwhile, we recycle Leone and Touki.
  6. Burger was very good with the Marlins last year and he’s turned his season around the last few weeks.
  7. Yep, it was well known I thought when KW and Hahn got fired
  8. For a righty starter? Maybe Michael Wacha, who’s been nothing special in his career (one fWAR season over 3 in his career). Devin Williams has the best change up in baseball now, but he doesn’t have to face more than a few batters every game. I think it’s scary that the two teams that faced Thorpe a second time absolutely shelled him.
  9. He’s the one guy I forgot but didn’t want to edit my post after others quoted it
  10. To get fans to not focus on the part of the statement about not spending money.
  11. How many guys that pitch like he does are upper rotation guys now? Hendricks from 8 years ago? He doesn’t have the movement on his fastball to combat the lack of velocity.
  12. Getz has been so unbelievably bad with his trades so far. Couldn’t get worse results if he was trying to do bad.
  13. Thorpe is a back-end, seemingly easily replaceable starting pitcher. Again, crazy they let such a low ceiling guy headline that deal.
  14. Get the feeling Stoney retires https://x.com/stevestone/status/1821604217079132255
  15. Yeah I don’t see it. They’re farther away from being a .500 team than they have in a long time. There are very few, if any, players that you can clearly state will be a starting player for this team come 2028.
  16. ESPN 1000 saying it’s cause they didn’t want new manager having to answer questions about the streak
