QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) That's why this year is no different than any year pre-2005. We get down a few runs, it's constant solo homers from there on out. And then we'll bring in a bad reliever when it's 6-3 in the top of the 9th, and he'll give up another homer to Hunter. However, the Twins still have their closer come into the game, and we go down silently.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) 2 solo homers, followed by 2-0 counts where the hitters made outs. Gotta eventually string hits together. Station-to-station....b****!
-
A 2-0 count to our leadoff hitter, and he chases a slider off the plate? That's bad baseball.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) AJ said on the Mike North show that he and the catchers call the game. They go over a game plan with Coop before to prep but they call it. Why can't we fire Cooper for lack of game preparation.

QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) I have a serious question. Who calls the pitch selection, is it Ozzie or the catchers? Catchers
-
Haha...wow! That left me speechless.
-
Good news...Cy Young gave up 138 homers during his career.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) So, Torii Hunter has hit 4 homers against the Sox in the last 5 games? I'll never understand why we don't throw at him more. With all of the bat tossing, etc., we've sure let him make us his b**** in the last 4 years.
-
Hunter is swinging the bat just awesome right now. He has so much confidence at the plate, and he's hit two changeups for homers in the last two days. That's impressive considering how well he hits fastballs. It's too freaking bad that the Twins didn't trade him 3 months ago.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) STFU. He's not Cy Young. That joke will never get old, will it?
-
McCarthy should know better than to keep hitters off-balanced.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) Did I ever mention that I love Gloadie I just really like his approach. He's a gap hitter who knows how to protect the plate. I was against him being on the roster all year, but that's cause he had no place to play, and we were/still are severely lacking a backup outfielder.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Ozzie favors people but it has zero to do with race. But I assume you know that. Yeah, I'm not saying that just because a guy is Latino, Ozzie's going to favor him. However, I think that Ozzie has developed some very close friendships with some of the guys on this team, and it's effecting the way he manages. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) I'm sorry, but would someone please remind me which pitcher went 8 or 9 innings against Santana in a 1-1 duel last September? Alex, Who is Brandon McCarthy.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) Rob Macko...ah screw it. I'm getting beer. Ok, here's an idea...Ross Gload in CF? I like Mackowiak, especially how he said he was drunk at Game 2 of the WS last year. I feel awful for him, as he has no business being in CF. His addition to the lineup tonight has been great. I love how Rongey defending it by saying Ozzie was playing a hunch. That's bulls***, as Ozzie has been going by the book on almost every move he's made this year.
-
Nice swing by Gload. He needs to play every game for the rest of this year.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) This has been a wasted year for McCarthy. As someone said yesterday, maybe all the sweets he's eating during the game will make him heavier and add a few mph to his pitches.
-
Does it make me a bad fan when I hope that certain players go on the DL tonight in order to improve this team? Of course, I'm not rooting for serious injuries...just little things that they'll recover 100 pct from.
-
QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) Please don't play the race card. This is baseball. Oz is better than that. My gosh. I'm not saying what he said is true...but I'm also not saying that Ozzie doesn't favor some of his buddies. I can't wait until next year when McCarthy gets pulled at the first sign of trouble.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) Maybe it's just me not having seen him pitch for a month, but McCarthy's delivery looks slightly different than last time out. Seems less violent to my eyes. I can't tell...it's like a man who's been in prison for 20 years going to a strip club once he gets out.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) The Twins sure act like its a big series. Maybe thats why their kicking the Sox ass again. If the Sox continue to fall apart, it will be interesting to see what KW does with the roster. I don't think he'll make a lot of changes, but I think he will make a couple big moves. I want to see the Sox trade for Jimmy Rollins (one of our starters and a good prospect) and then try to sign Mathews Jr. to a 2/3 yr deal. My ideal lineup would be: Rollins, Mathews Jr, Dye, Thome, PK, Crede, Iguchi, AJP, Anderson
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) Never has a team given me such bad headaches before. I think I'm gonna go get some DQ, but I wanna watch BMac pitch seeing as how I might not get, and haven't gotten many chances this year. Lets just hope that the DQ manager doesn't put the janitor in charge of making the blizzards.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) Just shows Ozzie's lack of urgency. I doubt you'll find any other manager in the MLB that would start 4 back-ups in a crucial game in a playoff push. I'm so f***ing sick of the comments in the media that go like this: "This isn't a big series. No matter what, our season won't be decided when the series is over". Nice pull approach that inning.
-
At least PK looks to be bringing back the leg kick. That's a promising sight.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) Even when Johan Santana looks very human and the Twins 3B makes a big error we can't do s***. I hate when we face him. He's the only pitcher in baseball I feel like we have no chance against.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) Our rotation is like the Nasty Boys and Brutus Beefcake. They're only in there because they're friends with the most powerful guy on the team. Wow!! Well done...I still have a smile on my face.
