QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:57 AM) The problem Flash is how our Offense hits in the 2nd half year in and year out. At the point the temps heat up at Coors East, our guys stop hitting and start with a lift and pull thing going on. When we face a good pitcher who has a good changeup we are meat. We will go up there like blind robots swinging for the fences, trying to guess which one of the 2 pitches Santana will throw against us. Konerko didnt see a fastball last game and looked stupid swinging at changeups in the dirt. Other teams put up some sort of offensive attack. There is no reason that he has an under 2 ERA against us in the last 2 years. Outside of us helping him with our attack. 2 strikes, swing for the fence K. Some of the guys who actually did damage against Santana were Ordonez and Rowand, and that's cause they would drive the ball to the opposite field against him.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:56 AM) I was seriously sitting in my car just f***ing pounding my head on the wheel at the retarded s*** he was saying. I was doing this during his pregame today, and I was in a good, optimistic mood.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:30 AM) Is he injured or what? Why can't anyone within the media answer the question, or management answer it? Someone on this board mentioned Cooper citing McCarthy's "sore shoulder" as an excuse, but then why haven't there been any newspaper reports about it? Have I just missed them? Well, when I don't throw for a few years, the next time I pitch, my shoulder is a little sore.

QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:29 AM) Hah! The Sox have to "find a way" to make Cotts effective and give him "condfidence"...... I miss Brian Dolgin..... Did he really say this? I told you he always uses the confidence excuse.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) "All due respect". Just saying, with Santana tomorrow...saying Sunday is paramount is going out on a limb of sorts -- just a really big, stable limb. Respect? I don't need no stinking respect. I think I said that comment to make me feel better about this weekend. I need this season to last as long as possible, because as soon as it's over, it's wedding planning time....YUCK!

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) Wow, I guess I feel really bad about this loss if I think Mr. Pessimism is being a little too optimistic. They played it like a must win game and lost. What does that say about their chances in other must win games? Well, if it makes you feel better, I think our current chemistry sucks and Ozzie has absolutely no clue how to manage this personnel.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) I haven't read the thread but how about some blame for Joey Cora. Getting a guy thrown out at home with less than 2 out is inexcusable. As I said in other threads, you could feel the entire momentum of the game shift then.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) Their rotation is better than ours has been (for months), even without Radke. Obviously that is a problem for them, but they have been playing better than the Sox in every way for the past two months. I don't know why that should suddenly change. Losing Radke would be huge for them. He's been great over the past few months. I like our chances if their rotation is Santana and then 4 other guys a lot more than if it was Santana, Liriano, Radke, and then 2 others.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:23 AM) ADR, that's one of the more underwhelming calls I've ever heard. ADR? What does that mean. If we can come out of this series 1/2 game out of the WC lead, I like our chances the rest of the way with Radke injured and Liriano not returning as a starter.

QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:21 AM) Again, if Riske can't be trusted to get an out in the 6th inning, he should not be on the roster. Your problem is with Kenny Williams. KW did as good a job as he possibly could with this bullpen AFTER what we started off with. It's not his fault that Ozzie keeps using Cotts in close games. FWIW, I have a much bigger issue with bringing Cotts in than I did Riske.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:20 AM) The way we should approach him for a game. Is to try and take his fastball into right. If you do happen to get the change, with you trying to hit the ball to right you may stay back enough on the change to put it in play fair. Just going up there confused and looking for a pitch to park is not a way to beat this guy. Other teams have put runs up against this guy, he is not superman. I couldnt help myself. I always enjoy Konerko's ABs against Santana. BTW, the more I watch Gload bat, the more I'm convinced we've wasted his abilities this year. Considering how bad Pods is defensively, there's no way Gload can be worse than him out there. I'm 100 pct sure that Gload has more infield hits than Pods this season in 1/4 of the ABs. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:21 AM) Does anyone think 20 wins in the last 34 is possible for this team? That's what it's going to take to get into the playoffs, at least. Not if the Twins have a rotation of Santana....and pray for rain. I'm calling this right now...Sunday is the turning point of our season one way or another.

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:18 AM) We got no chance tomorrow, but they still have to play the game. Hope for Santana to sprain his wrist while he's shaving or something. We got no clue how to hit this guy. If you're feeling down or gloom....just keep this in mind: we're one game closer to hopefully seeing the end of the Pods and Garcia era.

I love when Rongey starts talking about confidence, and that's his answer to every question.

We have one of the best overall offenses in baseball. He's not going anywhere. He's the one coach who actually should believe he's done a good job. Ozzie, Cora, Cooper, and Raines have underachieved big time.

QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:12 AM) First off, where do you get your information that Riske is horrible in "close situations"? Second it was the 6th inning. I'm trying to confirm the stat, but someone said he had no holds for the Indians last year. And with 10 outs to go in the game, that's a huge situation.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:12 AM) This I wouldn't mind seeing from now on. Kind of like Barcelowe (haw haw Barcelo + Lowe I am funny) when Manuel was managing. Vazcarthy sounds good to boot. Barcelowe was a great combination. Thanks for bringing that up...good memories.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:11 AM) We should handle Javy just like we handled El Duque down the stretch run. The minute he shows one crack, bmac comes in the game. He is the bridge to the back end of the pen. The funny thing is that we should all stop requesting McCarthy. When Ozzie said that stuff about him not being Cy Young, it was very telling about how he views him. My personal opinion is that if it was up to Ozzie, McCarthy would have been traded at the deadline for one of his golfing buddies.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:07 AM) I don't get to watch as many as I'd like, but I listen to all of them. I don't have to watch them to understand that hindsight Ozzie bashing will occur. He had Vazquez on a short leash and the players that he brought in should have got the job done. That's what they get paid for. He didn't overtax anybody and they should be ready for near future games. Asking Cotts and Riske to retire a batter is not asking as much as Guerrier to go 3 innings and Crain 2. The Twins beat the Sox. Their players performed better in the clutch. for just once I would like to hear the players take the heat for their on field performances. Last year Ozzie kept pulling a rabbit out of the hat. I guess he was completely lucky and his true idiocy has finally got the better of him this year. Give me a break. 2 teams are trying to win these games. Their players pulled it out. So Ozzie pulled a rabbit out of his hat last year, but the Twins players won the game tonight? I know Ozzie gets too much of the blame on here, but tonight was as bad as I've ever seen.
-
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:07 AM) I can't even listen to the score anymore....Rongey is a tremendous homer-iffic tool..... I said this after listening to the pregame show tonight. It's insulting to listen to.
-
QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) Why are Riske and Cotts on the roster then? Riske has been solid, btw, and you're acting like he's Cliff Pollitte. Riske is a horrible pitcher in close situations. Cotts shouldn't be in unless it's mop-up duty right now.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) I thought they looked flat after the Twins came back and tied it. THAT is when you really have to sack up, show your fire and do what it takes to win. Instead, they rolled over. They've been rolling over a lot since the ASB. The Sox got beaten by a team that simply wants it more, and plays like it. We lost all the momentum the second Gload was thrown out at home. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:05 AM) I don't care, ban my ass. I don't care if I'm banned for not allowing people to call 3 run homers by great players luck, when it was off one of our inferior pitchers. If you think your internet threats are going to shut me up, then uhh no. My advice....go find yourself something indecent to do tonight.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:02 AM) And lose to Johan, and then get swept on Sunday since Mark Buehrle forgot how to pitch. Our season just might have died because of our manager, and people STILL love him. 2005 is OVER. Let them love him...why does it matter to you if not everyone agrees with what you say? It's not like you don't have some people on here on your side anyways.

QUOTE(Wealz @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:01 AM) You don't burn Thornton in the 6th when you know Mauer and Moreneau are going to have another AB. The worst Moreneau could have done in that situation was tie the game. Tie game in the 6th - big deal. Sorry, but against a team with an amazing bullpen like the Twins, you go for the freaking win in that situation. Even Ozzie himself said he's nervous about them having Nathan at the end of the game. You win the game tonight, and then you worry about the bullpen tomorrow. It's not like I'm saying we should have used Jenks for 3 innings, etc.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:00 AM) Ban my ass, I don't care. I'm tired of people defending things that aren't even close to being controversial. It's fine if they disagree....you know the rules, show a little more class. We're all pissed the Sox lost...but they'll play again tomorrow.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 03:59 AM) Has Ozzie FINALLY figured out that his team is sleep walking and playing with no intensity and no fire? How could it have taken him this long? Is he going to do anything about it? I think if he knew how to motivate them, he would have done so by now. He's pathetic. Well, that starts with our "catalyst", and he's busy sleepwalking in LF. I would love to see how this team can do in a series with Mack leading off in LF and Anderson in CF.
