  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) It would be a shot to us and to the twins if we actually tried to hit line drives next inning, and strung a few hits together. I know it goes against our whole offensive strategy of lift and pull and pose, but it might win a close game. Just a thought. That's one of the main reason we've always struggled against guys like Nathan and Rincon. They have that quick slider on the outside to righties, and everyone on the team will swing over it.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Alright, you know the gun's off when Thornton's only hitting 92.........PHEW, on that hit by Mauer I think it's 3-4 mph off tonight.
  3. Whew...I thought that was gone off of the bat.
  4. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) I'm still scratching my head over Ozzie's decision to keep Pods in against a tough lefty. Maybe Brian wouldn't have come through at the plate either but at least your defense is improved considerably in the late innings when every run is crucial. There's honestly no reason he was left up to bat, especially considering Ozzie has said he won't start Pods vs LHP due to his inability to hit them this season.
  5. Some very tough outs coming up for Sox pitchers in this 8th inning.
  6. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:42 AM) Uh, no he doesn't. Their stats are very similar. Not over the past 2 or 3 months. Pierre has been very solid since his terrible start, and Pods has been terrible since his solid start.
  7. This game just seems too much like ever Twins/Sox late game series over the past few years.
  8. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) Barry 'this will add an extra 2mil per year on my ensuing contract if I can finish it' Zito with a no hitter through 7 versus Texas. Nice jinx
  9. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) I can't help but to keep thinking of Cora's gaffe earlier. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) The only way we make a change at the top of the dish is if we trade for Marlins template player. A noodle armed Pierre might chase noodle armed Pods out of LF. Pierre is infinitely better than Podsednik right now. Pods makes Pierre look like Ty Cobb.
  11. How many hangers are we going to swing and miss tonight?
  12. Our 1-2...can you please do something?
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) this fan forum is an extension of the stands packed with only whitesoxfans...... if some guy sittin next to me at a whitesox game with whitesox gear on yelled out "i hate you OZ, PODS & JC" it would definitely bother the hell outta me. OZ learned that if he doesnt have anything positive to say....well he aint supposed to say it.... I don't get the Oz comment. He's still saying whatever he wants in the media.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:34 AM) Mccarthy? I saw him at the Bears game with Rowand tonight.
  15. What I simply don't get was that in the 6th inning, Morneau's AB was a huge out in the game. Thornton's proven he can go more than one inning in an outing. Why not make Morneau beat our best lefty?
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) Well Thornton out now. Cotts and Riske going in the last inning was the Ozzie equivalent of letting Boone Logan face Hafner in the 8th up by one run because he was a lefty and there happened to be a lefty up. I disagree...this move was worse. At least Logan hadn't been in a massive slump prior to being brought in.
  17. We only have Jenks and MacDougal left in the pen.
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) Bevy once signalled to the bullpen for a reliever who wasn't there. It's going to take a lot more than that last inning to eclipse that. I still laugh at how Ozzie signalled for the wrong throwing hand, and had to bring in Politte to face a lefty instead of the lefty he wanted to bring in.
  19. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:29 AM) True, but he surprising pitched pretty good today up until his natural mid game crises. We can use this line for 90 pct of his starts.
  20. QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) There's no way around this. Worst inning for a manager (as far as being able to second guess his moves). easy logic is leave in vaz till he at least lets in 2 runs or go to bmac. easy pitch hit for the lf'der who should be in AAA (and sucking there). easy I just don't know what he was thinking there.. Pods in the minors would fit in perfectly with all the other guys who had a lot more power in 2004.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) So Pods doesnt get on base anymore. He doesnt steal. He doesnt play good D, he doesnt throw well. What does he do again. Oh I know. He stands statuesque as he takes strike three down the cock. He prances around LF lets balls drop in front of him because he plays on the track, then dives for a few so they can roll to the wall. He's a zero tool player.
  22. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) Riske still in.....Hang on Boys It's not a hold situation...he'll do better.
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 02:27 AM) We deserve to win this game in every way except the coaching department so far. But that could still wind us up with a loss. Don't forget that Vazquez continues to lack guts on the mound.
  24. The 6th inning was the worst managed inning I've ever seen. Ozzie violated my #1 rule for a manager, which is to always put your team in the best position to succeed.
  25. We might have just saw the worst managed inning in White Sox history.
