QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) speed? not really, he doesnt get on enough, power? nope. defense? nope. avg? nope. but what other choice do we have? Gload, Mackowiak, Sweeney

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) You can say that about a few players on this team. No, he's the only person who I honestly think doesn't contribute a single freaking thing to this team. He's so much worse than your average MLB starter.
-
Thank you Pudge....now get Garcia the f*** out of the game.
-
QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) Seriously....what the hell does Pods bring to this team? Nothing, and if he went on the DL tonight, we'd be a better team because of it.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) this is ridiculous. This team deserves anything bad that happens to them this inning.
-
Paging the bullpen. Where's the urgency Oz?
-
Does Pods have more errors in the 2nd half of this season than he does steals?
-
Terrible reaction time by Pods...what a shocker. If Ozzie has Thornton warming up, why didn't he bring him in to face Guillen?
-
Garcia is throwing some great pitches to hit this inning for the Tigers. It will be a minor miracle if Guillen gets out.
-
Thornton's up in the pen...interesting.
-
This would have been a nice time to bring Thornton into the game, and see if he can give you 2 strong innings.
-
First pitch hanger, and Ordonez with a single. Ozzie better get the bullpen up.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) I thought it was even more interesting, because when Gload PH it was leading off an inning. I still think Ozzie is making the call. On the radio this morning, the media members that were in the clubhouse after the game didn't think it was Ozzie's decision.
-
Damn...that ball hung up there. A much better AB for AJP.
-
I didn't think about this last night, but anyone else find it interesting that in a game where Ozzie gets tossed, whoever was in charge made the decision to play Gload in LF over Pods? It seems like it's been forever since AJP hit a liner for a base hit.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) Has anyone talked about who to bring up if Thome is out for a while? My guess would be Sweeney for RF, and Dye to DH. Sweeney might not play everyday, Mack would see some RF. But Sweeney could get a lot of AB's. I'm 99 pct sure we'd play Gload everyday at 1B/DH with PK.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) I went there after the game last night. I played blackjack and was up $80 after 2 hands. I would rather not say how the evening ended. Although I did get solicited by an approx. 55 year old blond. I told her I was broke. Oh...so Milkman's mom was working last night?

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) Would it be to much to ask to pull Freddy now? Give the actual solid part of our pitching chance a staff to close this one out? Our pen has been so solid, I'd let them have this one. How far was Chris Young's homer today?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) No. I had a couple of $8 beers though. We stayed in Windsor, home of the Cuban cigar shops on every block. I think if I was 19 again, I may have died in Windsor. Did you stay at the Windsor Casino? They have a sweet horse racing gambling game there.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) Conjecture. He isn't facing Santana and Verlander over in the NL and it would have cost us major prospects and we'd have probably lost him at the end of the season anyhow. All that and there is NO WAY you can gurantee anything because our pitching stinks. I didn't want a friggin left fielder when our Starting pitching staff all have eras over 4 or 5. If we had great pitching, but just needed some more punch then sure...go for the guy, but he would have done nothing but deplete resources and instead of losing 7-4, we'd just lose 7-6. It would have been a totally assinine trade and IM glad Kenny didnt make it (McCarthy and Fields/Sweeney + ANOTHER prospect?....yea give me some of that whacky weed). Even though I disagree with you, I like your style in this post. We need more people on this site who can put together an argument like this.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) Freddy growing cajones right before our eyes. It's a good thing he has a 91 mph fastball, and not his 88 mph fastball. That extra velocity allows him to get in on the hands of someone like Monroe.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) Very nice, very nice. Cintron, just stop that. I honestly think my entire chest cavity shifted when I saw the trajectory of that throw.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) We were up at Comerica last year, and I thought the same thing. Brutal. Did u check out the cigar bar they just put in? You're too young to be smoking! Holy cow...my heart definitely skipped a beat. Good job Freddy!
-
QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) Because he can't pitch. They just said it...Detroit has a mediocre scoring offense, but have by far the best record in baseball because of their pitching. Its all about pitching. Soriano would have definitely added a few wins to this team's record since the deadline.

He got Granderson to chase that. Here comes the Tigers hottest hitter...is a double play too much to ask for?
